Pro 4100 Wherever the trail takes me, WA. | Subject: RE: swbkrun's group - FULL Tony I do notice a BIG difference when you put on the race wheels! BIG! I notice a difference with the Zipps (606) vs. the cosmic. I had such an AWESOME run this morning. Went out to the mountains/woods (4 miles away), and did a trail run with a friend of mine. It was 35 degree's, not a cloud in the sky, and a full moon busting through the trees!! It is GOING TO BE A GOOD DAY!!! Race's next year?! That is a tough call... I am going to do 1 Ultra, 1 Marathon, the Boise 70.3, Lake Stevens 70.3, and the Chelanman 1/2 Iron. Ouch.. That is a 1/2 in June, July, and August?! I may have to rethink that one?! !!! Probably not though! I don't always make the best decisions! |

Elite 5316 Alturas, California | Subject: RE: swbkrun's group - FULL I am looking to seriously up my vollume/distances in training. Racing is less important, but I do want to try to get ready for a Full Mary in January in Redding, CA, probably an Oly some time in the spring, possibly the Door County HIM in Wisconsin in July and possibly the IMAZ if the registration goes to online. I can't take the time to go vollunteer or drive down there. If I can't get into that I will probably do the Vineman full IM distance, both are in the Fall. It sucks signing up for a race a full year out, not knowing if you will be in shape for it by then or not. But, C'est La Vie. 15 mile run this am before work yay. Expert 1231 B'ham | Subject: RE: swbkrun's group - FULL I am so sore from a Sport Circuit class I went to yesterday that I skipped spinning this morning. Definitely eye opening to the fact that even though s/b/r seems very 'all-inclusive' there are a lot of muscles that don't get much attention. The good news is that the knee held up through all of the running, jumping and stairs and doesn't hurt today. I'm going running this weekend!!!!! Unofficial Poll: Do any of you consistently do strength training (core excluded)? Unofficial Poll #2: What other fitness activities besides s/b/r do you participate in (i.e. Steve's mountaineering, rock climbing, bear wrestling, etc.)?

1) I do consistent weight training with my workouts. I just don't bother recording. I also make sure that I do about 15 minutes of stretching after each run or bike. 2) I haven't done any bear wrestling but I did watch a couple of young ladies mud wrestling once. Does that count as a workout. I usually play hockey and used to do karate as well. I still do some karate workouts but only on my own and not frequently. I will be starting a new body core class this Saturday. Most recently my extra training has been moving lots of furniture. |

My workout has 2 x strength training a week, Sometimes I get it in, sometimes not. I think I feel better when I do but when time is lacking it is the first workout to go. As far as other sports does 12oz curls count? I train 2x a day most days so no real time to get in any other sports besides the occasional round of golf. |

Master 2436 Apex, north carolina | Subject: RE: swbkrun's group - FULL I do Pilates, Tae-bo and lots of stretching. I was a dancer/cheerleader so my stretching routine is pretty intense. And I hesitate to say this to you guys, but I have been known to partake in belly dancing classes. I think you guys should try this, great core workout Plus it is a lot easier on your body than gymnastics or strapping on a pair of toe shoes. The hubby and I are getting too old to do cheerleading together. Who would have thought triathlon training would be the “easier” way to exercise. I would love to get in a regular weight training routine. I need some buff arms! Buff arms and a pink bike are a killer combination!!! Ggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Does that count as a workout. Only if it got your HR into the working zone. And 12oz curls only count if you do at least 6 sets. Thanks for the replies, I've been doing some sport/core/spin classes lately and it's been a nice change from the norm. Having a familiy and a job doesn't leave a lot of time for extra workouts, so I was curious as to what others were doing - especially now that the 'offseason' is here. |

I am really enjoying the rock climbing gig (man that hurts my arms!), digging the adventure racing now, and digging trails!!! |

I'm not even swimming right now for that same reason. I spend all my lunches either biking or running, and don't have any time in the evenings for it. 2) Does walking the dogs count?? If not, then nothing else! |

Nice Rob, I might sign up for one next year, I like to know that I can finish the distances well in advance to signing up so I might chicken out. Thanks Tracy, all of My Tri pictures are fuzzy because I won't pay 50 bucks for a digital image so figured I would try something new. |

Nice!!! That is awesome... One thing that really helped me early on was to have "SPORT SPECIFIC MONTHS!" So one month is all biking (working on form, speed, nutrition, etc.) the next month all running (working on form, speed, distance, etc..) followed by one month of swimming (working on FORM, DISTANCE, etc...). When you have done all these then you start combining, switching up, and go back to training as you normally would.. |

How long until your swim spa is done? 45* is cold, I hope you have some neoprene gloves, socks and swim cap(s) - gotta keep those digits. What's the 50/50 rule? Something like the 'average' (I know this doesn't apply to any of us ) person has a 50% chance of surviving a 50 yd swim in 50* water. |

He says that he will start work on framing today so I hope he does. We are still looking at probably 6 weeks before the swimex is gtg. I am being optomistic here. I was hoping for mid to late September, then mid to late October, then mid to late November, now I am hoping it is done by Christmas. Sigh. This has already been a 6 month process. For the weekend. F- 6-8 mile run, Sat 75 mile bike, 3 mile run, Sun 9 ish mile run. I am a little fatigued so we shall see how it all works out. Already have 29 miles run so far this week (Sunday-now) due to moving my long run to Wed am from Sunday. |

Tomorrow we're going with a couple other families to a Pumpkin Patch/Apple Orchard/Corn Maze/Petting Zoo. They have the BEST apple pie at this place, totally worth the trip. Sunday is church and what looks to be another disappointing Seahawks game - I might try to mt bike instead. Have a safe one everybody!! |

Allready given up on the Seahawks this year, they just don't seem to have it in them. LOL, the local team here (Redskins) are picking up all kinds of Seahawks, just signed Alexander, Plackemeier and I thought one other. Getting harder not to like them if they keep picking up Seahawks and coached by Zorn (I have a zorn jersey in the closet) |

Master 2436 Apex, north carolina | Subject: RE: swbkrun's group - FULL I actually have a tri this weekend! It is a one year anniversary of my very first tri. It's a super sprint and my goal is to get in under an hour (last year was 1:09). It feels funny to think of 250yds, 9miles, 2miles as a race - those are warm ups. But it is a womans only race and several of my friends are racing for the first time so it should be a fun supportive day. If you guys remember a while back this was the race my daughter wanted to do with me. I had decided to let her race, but sadly the registration was full by then. So she is going to watch this year and next year we will race together. I am very excited to do this with her. MY BABY IS GROWNING UP SO FAST!!! Excuse me while I wipe a tear from my eye |
