And in the "noob biker category" we have me

1. Bought used for $450 three months ago.
2. Regular old pedals.
3. Don't know any technical specs on it. (don't know anything about bikes, really)

but...

1. I've ridden it over 1,500 miles in the past three months.
2. It has taken me through two centuries painfree.
3. I've grown to love it and, really, that's all that matters.

Nice ride Ben. We're all traveling to the same destination. Whether you're flying 1st class or coach is irrelevant. Enjoy the journey my friend.

x2

They are just toys.

I would like to ask you to remember to be nice as you pass me though.  Don't take a second to look at my  bike from front to back and then glance at yours before saying "tough day?" or "does your wife know you spent that much on a bike to suck this bad?"

It's not about the bike!  Get that thought out of your head.  You have done the training and that is all that matters and you will still going to pass me.  Trust me on this.

Yikes...ppl already leaving for Louisville!

Besides the Spaghetti Factory that I keep hearing you guys mention, what are some other good places to eat? One thing to keep in mind is that all of the "pasta" restaurants may have long waits b/c everyone is looking to "carb up" before the race next day...

BTW, the bike won't matter much...unless you keep dropping the chain on the uphills! The engine is what matters!

With some more time during taper, I looked back at my training log to see my journey to my first IM.  Since mid Oct last year, I have racked up over 5000 miles of SBR.  That got me thinking of what it would look like on a map (S is red, S+B is orange, S+B+R is green).  Pretty impressive to see where I could have gone.

Congratulations to all of you for completing your individual journey to get to the starting line.  I look forward to seeing you there and cheering you on!

Just wanted to welcome everyone to Kentucky.  Looks like the weather's going to cooperate (at least relatively speaking).

What's funny is my wife and I are going to her high school reunion on Saturday.  She asked me to book a hotel and I went the Hotwire route.  It spit back the Galt House.  Half an hour later I realized we'd be staying at "official race HQ".

So . . . um . . . we'll try not to make any noise coming back to the room, okay?

And if we don't feel too bad, we'll try to make the swim finish to cheer some of you on.

Good luck!!
