Looks like a trainer day for me.  Guess I'll knock out my intervals instead of my medium ride.  Strength training first though.  I've learned that if I leave that for later in the day odds are it won't get done.  I don't mind the second shower for any of the sbr workouts but for some reason I do for strength training.  At some point you have to draw a line in the sand regarding all the showers.  lol

Hit the trainer this morning, and I'm going to run this afternoon.

I feel like I'm about to fall back into the swing of things...

Decided today was the day I would follow some weight loss advice from Kim and Chris. Today I have made a commitment to making one specific change in my eating habits. The change will be to only eat what I have packed for the day. I almost always put together a healthy breakfast and lunch filled with good proteins, fruits and vegetables. The problem is in addition to eating those I also snack on crappy stuff throughout the day. This is the one specific change I will be committed to until out Cozumel trip starting April 2nd. Thais doesn't mean things will change at that time, just time to evaluate and look if another specific change is in order. I'm really hoping this helps to kick start my weight loss again, been stalled out for way too long.

Been really busy with work so catching up some.

Yesterday I took a complete rest day and feel great today.  I ran 8 this morning and plan to hit the pool a little later.  Hoping for a solid week of training this week.

Hope the recovery goes well Fred.  Are you still planning to do the HIM in April?

The sun is taunting me right now as it periodically pokes through the clouds.  I just checked the radar and there is a nice big blob coming my way.  I only need 70 mins of clear sky's later this afternoon.  We shall see...

Good article on trusting your training and the fact that you know your body and racing by feel instead of worrying about pace, hr, or anything else you might be using

As an aside, it actually snowed here today.  It happens but it is pretty rare.  It was 80 a few days ago...

Got 50 mins of intervals (Revolver) last night on bike, after some seafood for V-day dinner

Got a nice 6.5 mile run in this AM, gonna swim tonight.

That was my workout from last night, first time i really trained with power, i have been on power based systems, but never with a workout, i guestimated my FTP, i plan on doing the 20min test tomorrow night, that should prove interesting.

Feel is really important. What's your philosophy on this Kim?

I think one of the nice things about training by HR is it really does tune you into your body.  I can pretty much tell what my HR is going to be without even looking at the watch .  I think training is where you get that.  You learn how your body reacts to heat, hills, cold, humidity, distance, dehydration, etc.  Come race time I still wear the HR monitor so I can get the numbers after but I totally race by feel.  I have learned how hard I can push myself.  I think race experience plays into that as well though.

Long swim day for me today.  I had a really hard time getting out of bed.  Thoughts crossed my mind of blowing it off but I gave myself a pep talk.  I mean, after all, its the only workout on the schedule.  Be lame to skip it.

I can see why she got offended.  There are a group of you that post good stuff and don't always agree and the discussion is civil.  Then there are a few folks that are just...I don't even know how to describe them.  It's like sometimes they are arguing for argument sake.  One in particular likes to throw around vague places, vague people, yet will not really come out and name them.  I just don't trust someone who is going to come in and argue with every single person and yet won't lay down what his credentials are that makes him so right.  He doesn't just argue with her, he seems to argue with everyone that is generally well respected on the forum.  Doesn't necessarily argue with the newbie's though.  Then there are a few others that are just very opinionated.  The shower thread was one of those threads that brought those people out.

But, I think it will eventually short itself out.  It'll come to a head, they will leave, there will be peace, then it will come back around again.  I do think you need to have a somewhat thick skin on the internet and you have to be willing to be called out regarding your views, methods, whatever.  But personal attacks and insults don't help anyone.

Looks like normal forum stuff to me.

The key is to not get offended and not let the trolls (or mean people, or whatever) derail your conversation. Though, sometimes, that is difficult. But it's like bullies when you're a kid - if you ignore them, they get bored and move on. If you get upset and you react, they stick around.

I very seldomly go to the main forums anymore. I may check out the Ironman threads and my Minnesota threads but that is about it. With the addition of this mentor group I barely have a reason to go anywhere else now. I guess I kind of lost touch with the "feel" of the group. A lot of people I used to talk to and have fun with on the forums are no longer around and have been replaced with what I see as a more combative group.

Good run this morning. My mis week runs are getting longer and this week they are at 6 miles. Felt like I was getting my breath back better and lungs felt much better. Heart rate is still a little higher than normal but getting better.

woke up yesterday feeling terrible- cold symptoms and I was able to stop the faucet from running just in time for the bike fit. Seat post came up and he got me closer to the cockpit. Cockpit dropped as well. The new position felt great and I could not wait to use it when I got home for the 20' test.

By the time I got home, I felt worse! I took plenty of meds to knock me out last night. I still don't feel well; it will probably be a short day at work. We'll see how I feel by this afternoon. I am really hoping is a 48hr bug.

I don't frequent the other main threads- so can't comment on it.

It is the same usual BS that goes on when everyone is training and not racing.  For the most part i have been avoiding TT as much as COJ, as the posts usually just peeve me off and i would rather not get excited about them.  Unless you make a point of letting us know about a thread, i usually don't even look at a post unless i know the person who originated it.

I will say, there are a few more DB's on the site lately than normal.  But, Hey...i am an old crumudgen...NOW GET OFF MY LAWN!!!!!!!!!  LOLOLOLO

Hey question for the group, and would love to hear from as many as we can on this one??

What are your thoughts on BT these days of the main forums?

I ask in relation to adventure bears thread in tri talk.

Is there a problem?
Normal forum stuff?

Want to know?

IMO I thinks it is normal, even pretty calm.

If you post on an open forum expect rebuttals, doubts and attacks.  You have to ask yourself prior to the post will this help, will it explain my thoughts and is it correct in my mind, all in a few short sentences.  That is very hard!!!!!  I don’t do it well and very few people do.  Don’t be thin skinned and don’t give up your stand.

I wish new the thread that offended her.  Any link via PM or did the thread get deleted?
