This year, they said we had to have health screenings to keep our insurance. But that they woudln't drop us or charge us no matter what they find. Then why do the tests?mr2tony - 2012-09-14 3:51 PM Food is so good -- you don't realize it until you have to fast for a work-related blood test. Why are they taking your blood for work?! What did you doooooooo? Probably so they can have a baseline for how unhealthy/healthy everyone is? But if your health insurance is free that doesn't make much sense. No incentive to get healthier if you don't pay for anything... |

No incentive to get healthier if you don't pay for anything... It could be something the provider is requesting....kind of like an HRA (Health Risk Assesment). Could be used for wellness programs and/or where the company and health insurance provider need to focus more education on. Could be away to fingure out who they need to terminate while they legally can......lots of reasons. |

For me that equaled $7.20. Not worth taking my blood for that, sorry company. We have a point system for healthy living. If you get 750 points, the health insurance discount is $30/month. That is worth something. The points are awarded for all kinds of things so you can be very unhealthy and actually qualify. You get 25 points for eating fish twice a week for a month, 25 points for drinking 4 glasses of water a day for a month, etc. It would be a bit of work but it can be done (Or you could just lie about it. The points are self-reported.) The big items are not smoking, BMI under 25, normal BP, normal cholesterol, and using seat belts. Doing all these gets you 500 points on January 1. You would not be surprised about which people complain about the system and which do not.

No incentive to get healthier if you don't pay for anything... But more likely your HR / purchasing organization is requesting. Let's say, in the background, your company is paying $800/person for insurance, which is average. Based on the screenings, your company's health profile is better than average, then you have leverage to negotiate a better rate. Providers have claim history and actuaries, over much greater numbers than a single company, to tell them what to do. |

It's $20 everytime I see the doctor. Or $100 if I go to the emergency room. Details details. |

Weekend recap not all that epic Went to Sable (new mixology bar) friday night, met a guy who was 6'11. He was definitely tall enough, maybe too tall. I know us girls are never happy. Did get ask to an after hours party on the way up in the elevator at 12:30, guessing they were just starting and I was going to bed?? I polite refused but thought about it. Saturday woke, ran, a little free weights, SHOPPING (spent way too much money and officially a size 4), and then night with the kids. They watched Back to the future while I read the 50 shades Darker, liking this one way better than the first. Sunday, cooked homemade breakfast pizzas for the kids and the ex, and made chicken enchiladas. Pee-wee footbal 60-0 the good guys and my kids scored 34 points :-) B-day party where my family asked why I am still single and if I was switching teams (they have not seen me with a man in 3 years, guess they are counting?). Back to the city to wash my hair and get ready for a TAN night out, I think! Edited by NRG42 2012-09-17 8:42 AM |

Back to the city to wash my hair and get ready for a TAN night out, I think! Cheri, that sounds like a normal epic, maybe not super epic. Great game for the boys. Breakfast pizza with the boys and ex? Hmm. One eyebrow is raised slightly. Janice was home on Saturday and Sunday. She has been in Atlanta all week. The most fun we had was going to the lake on Sunday and taking the boat out of the water for winterizing. This the earliest I have ever ended boating season. This fall is going to be busy, not epic busy, just boring busy. TW
