OK, I missed the knowledge boat on this one and tired of not knowing.

What does "indie" mean?

The new game I got won "best indie game of the year", and indie films, and indie rock, and "best of indie" streaming audio...

me no gets it.

Independent.

So it's not affiliated with a major company.

OK, I'm finally getting angry at the "how fast can I go/predict my time" threads.

Who would know better the answer than the OP?  Or a coach?  I just don't get it.

It's obviously a "please look at me" ploy to get people go to their logs and focus on them for a moment.

Unless I'm drunk, I'm sort of an anti "look at me guy".  I try to blend in.

I have actually STAYED OUT OF TRI TALK like everyone warns me to, for weeks. Too busy mostly (I haven't even really been in here) but also, just can't frickin' stand it sometimes ... either someone has posted good info (so I don't need to) or I'd be too tired to deal with idiotic posts/responses. Either way ...

What's crazy, is you get some people with a quite a bit of experience doing it.  "I have done a dozen HIM's before, do you think I can break 6 hours this time?"

REALLY?  It's not your first rodeo, you know what it takes to train and race and you KNOW what you have been doing.  So why ask?  Obviously not for an answer.

If I dared to ask that question about AZ, and someone said 11 hours, I would say they are full of it.  If they said 14 hours, I would say they are full of it, because I KNOW it should be between 12-13.  I know that, so I get people to confirm that, or I would reject any answers outside that range.  pointless.

Yeah. Predict my time for IMAZ!! I haven't swam in 2 years. I can run about 400 meters before I have to walk. I ride my bike about ...once a month. But I do crossfit. So that makes up for it all. Right?

I responded with somethign like "the people that do IM's have no shortage of drive and persiverance - the military did not corner the market on heart and dedication."

That went over well with him.
