Since I was mentioning the early registrations the other day, I thought I would give a heads up on the early ones that expire at the end of this month for Pirhana Sports. These are all basically in NJ, DE, MD, and Eastern PA (plus Pittsburgh). Very well run events. http://www.piranha-sports.com/ Edited by willie05 2008-10-17 3:16 PM |

That is what makes the SPORT A SPORT!!!!!!! My arms would be dead too - from hanging on for dear life. Are those that chose to use a parachute not really sky diving? |

I have a lot of training to do before next Sept. At least I have a year to do it. I forgot to say GREAT JOB!!! I'm still using scheduling as my excuse, but that will only work for so long. You are braver than I. Go get em tiger! |

Elite 5316 Alturas, California | Subject: RE: swbkrun's group - FULL Hrm went for a run with my son's cross country coach today. He is pretty fast, but I ended up having more endurance than him. However, he wants my kids to to run in a race next Saturday because if their team win they earn money for the cross country team for equipment. There is also a 30k trail run and I suppose that if I am going to drive 200 miles to take he children to the race, well I might as well do the adult race. So, the longest I have run in practice is 15 miles, on Wed of this week, so 18.5 miles on trails with big elevation should be um well a challenge. And I guess I will need to start tapering like um yesterday. Kind of nerfs the 75 mile bike ride I had scheduled for tomorrow. It will cost me 2 weeks of training for the taper and recovery, but not so much going on this time of year anyway. Night all. |

Willie, yeah my wife did the Cape Henlopen tri (turned into a du) this year so I saw some pirahna stuff this year, they have one of the best websites, very organized and gives you a ton of detail. Finally got the aerobars on my wife's bike last night + pink bar tape. I think I like the S-Bend I got her more than the Ski bend I have on mine. Was a pain, she had an extra set of brake levers on the handlebars so I had to pull both brake cables out to get the levers off + specialized put about a ton of gel on the bars which stuck to everything. My wife and I learned a valuable lesson in scheduling this year, November is waaay too late for your last tri of the year (also my first olympic) I am so antsy to be done with 2008 training and focus on 2009, I just want the tri to be over with. Getting ready to head out to a golf tournament, should be interesting, I used to be an 8 handicap way back when BK (Before Kids) wife and I used to play 4+ times a week. Now I barely play 4 times a year. Edited by dalessit 2008-10-18 7:58 AM |

Now I barely play 4 times a year. I learned that same lesson about scheduling last year. I had planned to do a race at the end of October (it was also going to be my first Olympic) but I was pretty wiped out with a few weeks to go and ended up hurting my knee. I was going to do the race anyway and probably walk for a lot of the run. Kind of fortunately, work plans changed, and I couldn't travel for it, so I ended up canceling with a couple weeks to go. Good choice, and I was able to rest up and start to walk normally again! Nice job doing those aerobars - I haven't tackled anything like that yet.

Master 2436 Apex, north carolina | Subject: RE: swbkrun's group - FULL Last tri of the season is complete. I missed my goal of breaking an hour but not by much. 1:03:52. Plus that cut over 5 minutes off of last year's time. I was 3rd in my age group on the bike and 92nd /457 overall. It was a woman's only race ( so don't get too excited) but I am pleased. It was lots of fun despite to temperature (37degrees -buuurrrr, shiver!!!) Great job on that run this weekend Rob. All that speed work on the tread mill seems to be paying off. |

I wear the same thing and often times I feel like the shoes need more cushing on long runs. My husband switched to Sauconys with this last shoe purchase and he thought the same thing. Or is the lack of cushioning a trade off for their light weight? |

I haven't found them to be lacking, but I only have a handful of runs longer than 9 miles so I'm can't really comment on the longer runs. The pair I exchanged still felt great after 250 miles and I replaced them w/ the same model. The new ones do feel less cushiony (??) but I only have about 30 miles on them. |

Pro 4100 Wherever the trail takes me, WA. | Subject: RE: swbkrun's group - FULL Trail shoes... My cup of TEA!!! I am a huge fan of the Brooks Cascadia (not the best color choice now). It has great support, and GOOD cushioning! Vasque makes a shoe called the Aether Tec w/ BOA LACING (THIS ROCKS), but the shoe actually feels TOO LIGHT for me! I am now using a pair of NORTH FACE PURGATORY shoes, and they feel awesome! You know that feeling when you put on your favorite pair of running socks, and they just feel so soft, light, and cozy!? That is the feeling I get when I put these shoes on.... I knew instantly when I put them on.... LOVE EM' .... |
