Morning. Not much on tap this weekend, lots of family in town to see the little guy and we're just hanging out. I went to the pool for a swim this morning and it was immediately obvious that I have not been swimming much lately. Apologies for the lack of formatting, this browser apparently doesn't support basic english standards.

so that is what that yellow spongy thing was for.  I have the new bottle like in Tony's picture and couldn't figure out what to do with it. The directions referened 4 different figures but didn't have any figures printed on the sheet!   I'm still trying to figure out how to work the rubberbands - or if  I really need them.  I guess they are a good idea b/c  I assume the vibrations from the road would move the bottle.  I've never bought a water bottle that came with instructions Yell    I'm thinking I'll have to switch out the watch band to the velcro wrap, regardless of how I mount it.  Currently I have the buckle type but that seems like it will take too long.

I was going to buy a wetsuit this weekend (or at least go shopping for one) but considering I got a ticket on my way into work this morning I guess I had better pay that first.  Crap!!!!  And  I wasn't even speeding - such a waste.

I still use the yellow thingy inside the bottle under the cap, just helps with splashing.

Buying a new front wheel this weekend, going the cheapo route and getting a neuvation.

Can't wait for my kids to go from pre-school to free-school...

I hear that!  For me it'll be a few more years though.  While I love every minute with my wife and daughters, the school thing is a good thing for my sanity

we used to talk about all the money we would "find" when our girls were both out of daycare and into "free" school.  However, when that transition happened, we discovered the wonderful sport of triathlons, so guess where all that money went?

Hey guys...can I get back in the group?  I think I have been out of town for about 5 or 6 pages now.  Finally got caught up reading most of the posts.  I have been traveling with some sales manager types for the last  few days and am back finally.  I did manage to get a workout in while I was traveling.

Got to give Jeremy some KUDOS on the bike!  That is a sweet ride there and probably the bike that I would get myself at this point.  Looks like the other couple of hot topics had to do with white handlebar tape and white socks...and I say go with both.

It is raining here in the south, so got to try to squeeze a couple of good workouts in over the weekend.

Hey gang. Just got back from my Friday swim so the rest of the day is mine and only have an ab class tomorrow morning. What am I going to do with all the extra time I have? (rhetorical question, no suggestions required).

Everyone have a great day.

Hi Guys...

My last long run before Boston is in the bag, thankfully.  Appreciate all of your ideas and support over the last few days.  I have a 50K relay next week to get my brain wrapped around MP, but other than that a few quality work outs during my taper and that is that!

Enjoy your weekend!

Suzy

With the exception of 5 Newton Hills, it is all sorta downhill!

I just got off my second webinar with Gordo on Endurace Corner.  I am sure he will post it and I think it will interest some of you.  The topic was "HIM WorkOuts".    It gave beginner and advanced examples for each discipline which was helpful for me.

My favorite: 5m run/45m bike/5m run, with the second run done at goal pace.  No SWIM!

If you want more details and don't want to listen to the hour long recording, I can post some more stuff.  Just let me know.

I just did a PB bike: 40.48 miles.  My previous farthest distance was 35 miles (last year).  But I had an overall avg pace of 18 mph.

I'm stoked, this wasn't exactly planned, but who's gonna complain?  Not me.

Awesome job, Jeremy!

Suzy, we are so glad for you!  and in awe of your 24m run, WHEW!

Tracy, when you finish your set up, will you post a pic, too?

The weird thing about my aerobars (profile design carbon tri-stryke, i think) is that the bars as they taper are not round and my little mount attacher thingy is round, it doesn't seem to fit quite right.  Will Tony or Steve just come out to SF and help me set it up??? please, I'll treat for a pedicure

Jeremy/Suzy... Both fantastic and IT'S ONLY FRIEND!!!

Tony being 3hrs ahead of me timewise I am sure you will have your 1st glass before I!

Tracy- Keep in mind you have a month or 2 to pay for your ticket- Longer is you set a court date! Get the suit !

Kim, I think you have the Airstryke Aerobars (maybe? The Tri Stryke is a saddle)?  I see what you are saying.... Here is a couple questions- What computer's are people using?  Why can't you wear on your wrist?  Why can't you but it on your stem?   I have a Polar CS400 that I have mounted on the stem, and if I am using my Garmin, or Polar 520 then I wear them on my wrist.

Side note... Just got some new shoes to match the saddle, bike, and helmet.... Used my divident at REI... They cost me a whopping $1.37!!! (which is not a good thing, because I obviously spent a ton of money at REI last year to get that much of a return this year !

Just got back from a fun hill ride on my new bike.  Had to test out the double to see how it would do on hills, a bit more work but didn't seem like that much more than the compact.

Had 2-3 cars come into the bike lane a few feet from me to pass another car.  I started going faster than all the cars and some lady not looking makes a right hand turn and I am going 35 mph at the time and have to slam on the brakes and thought I was going to have to bail but luckilly she stopped at the last minute.  I would have been ok but bike would have smashed into her car...

Another part of the ride went from a nice downhill to a long flat area cruising along at 40mph in a 30mph zone and I pass two cops with a radar gun, I see the guy with the gun show it to the other guy and there aren't any cars on the road and I think oh crap I am going to get a moving violation on my bike.  They didn't pull me over.

On my way back they were still there and one cop starts to cross the road pointing and I am thinking to myself again, oh crap why did I ride back this way.  He was pointing at the car directly behind me, whew...

The tri bike is waaay faster than my road bike.

So a very eventful 45 minute ride around the neighborhood.  Time for some wine!

Jeremy: nice ride. I think the farthest I have done outside is about 40K also. Sure feels great doesn't it when everything goes right.

Tony: sounds like you had a great ride also. Those exciting moments surely break up the ride.

Steve/Kim: I have the same bars and tri shoes as you show in your photos and I am not sure if that they address Kim's dilemma. The bars themselves go off at an angle they don't differ in circumference. .

Hey Steve, Tony and anyone else who has a CT.....which version? which software?  I was thinking the Pro with 3D Software.  Does that make the most sense?  I get to buy it this weekend for my upcoming b-day! It's basically in my cart waiting for me to push "GO".

Never mind. I ordered it!

Yes, LP.  I wanted Madison, but it isn't ready and they wouldn't let me pre-order it.   I'm very excited.  Even though we are heading into good weather there are plenty of times where I could fit in a shorter ride if I knew there was no chance of mechanical melt down.

Suzy, I am super jealous but extremely happy for you of course   Happy pre birthday, mine is coming up soon, not sure I could justify that since I'm sure I'll have to pay Uncle Sam on April 15th!

 Anyhoo, here are my aerobars

http://www.profile-design.com/products/aerobars/carbon-stryke/

see how they get narrower as you go away from the elbow pads, they are not round out there, they become oblong sort of like a hexagon!  Anyhow, that is not even the most current dilemma I am having with the Garmin.  For some reason, it is not picking up the pace or dist traveled when biking. It does pick up HR and cadence though.  It works fine in run mode.  I emailed Garmin and they had me do an update to my unit but still is not working.  Strange, I will email them again and see what they say.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend.  I will be watching the Stanford women's game tonite and Cal Bears women's game tomorrow!  Go Pac 10!!!

Hey Kim

In case no one in this group can answer your question, here is the brainiac that answered all of my Garmin dilemmas: tech_geezer.  I am sure he would not mind you PM'ing him.

Glad to see you don't have to work 24 hours today and you can actually watch the games.  I thought we agreed you were going to stop working on Saturdays to get those long rides and runs in.....

This may sound silly but are you hitting start?  HR I know comes up no matter what, not sure about cadence, but you have to hit start before it will record distance.  Other than that I haven't seen that before.

Not silly Tony, I have been known to do things like that, but yes, I am hitting start and the timer does start, but keeps "auto-pausing" when I am still pedaling.  Leads me to believe it is not charging completely or something is defective in the unit, but it acts just fine on all of my runs.  Very strange.  I have emailed Garmin again for further instructions.

 Thanks anyways.
