So big plans today for a ride on the trainer, a massage, and then a swim...oh and some marking and report card comments in there too along with dog sitting for a friend. Well, the good news is that the dogs are getting along wonderfully and will easily tire each other out without a lot of work by me- other than filling up the water dishes and moving the furniture back once the wrestling ends. The bad news is that a water main on the street broke at 4AM and so no water...not sure that my MT would appreciate a sweaty post-ride body on her table. Oh well, best to get at the report cards anyway. Hopefully, I can get a swim in this afternoon and then shower up at the gym.

So last week, Julie reminds us of RoadID, my safety tip this week as the broken water main has reminded me....Does everyone have an emergency kit in their homes? cars? We had one when we lived in Vancouver due to the possibility of an earthquake but I don't think we restocked our water when we moved back to Calgary. No doubt that there are lists online with everything from food, water, flashlight, radio, blankets, first aid and extra batteries amongst other items. Be a girl/boy scout and be prepared!

Have a wonderful weekend!

good safety tip yvonne!! it always seems like when something DOES happen, it's like "WHY don't i have a flashlight ready!?! it's not like it's HARD!" we've had a LOT of........call them practice emergencies, time's when the power's out, but only for a few hours, or something where it's not really an EMERGENCY but a good reality check. we have an emergency kit in the car (blankets, flashlights, a shovel, toilet paper, granola bars, water bottles, etc) and we have a kit of sorts in the house too. i never feel like it's enough though, you know? most emergency lists or whatever say that you should be prepared to spend at least three days with no power, no water, no contact with the outside world. we have enough maybe for 2 weeks on some things, and maybe 20 minutes on other things. LOL it's not a "well balanced" kit! LOL

i think i'm going to be running around most of today, so i might not be on here too much. on the flip side i am taking my suity in and i'm going to AIM for a swim!! (i know! i know! don't faint!! i actually DO swim on occasion!! although not since about september LMAO) have a good day guys, ooh ooh! is anyone racing this weekend? i haven't seen anyone say anything, but i haven't been around to all the logs in a while (bad lyssa bad lyssa!!)

Alyssa- hope you had a great swim!

Julie- way to ride and bike handle with the blow-out. No doubt that your MB skills helped with the  bike handling! I watched as my hubby broke a spoke going down hill at about 40mph just as I pulled up to him, the back tire blew- we thought he was pretty lucky that it was the spoke that went first!

Julie- so happy to hear that your little Lexi is feeling better. Hope you can get back out there soon!

No more procrastinating...back to marking and reports....sigh....

Hi,

I did my morning run and then spent the rest of the dealing with my MIL's memorial gathering. I got to meet a bunch of people I've heard about for years. We shared stories about Jeanne and got to learn more about her life. All in all it was a pretty good day considering.

Tomorrow is my 4th anniversary. I might start the day with an easy spin on the trainer but then we've got afternoon appointments for mani/pedis and then out to dinner.

Good morning everyone,

Sounds like most of us are getting some decent training in, despite tire blow outs, sick daughters, and grades that must be done.  I've had an easy weekend for a change.  My husband is off on a couple of trips (Brazil and Paris, so don't feel bad for him -- he's an airline pilot).  When he's gone, I get control over my schedule.  So training it is!

We're having our typical late winter/early spring weather -- one day it will be sunny and in the 60s or 70s, and the next day it plunges back down into the the 30s and 40s.  This morning it's gray and windy out there, but it's almost 50.  That's great for a long run!  I'm heading out shortly, and plan to do 8 miles.  This is the last big run before the HM next weekend.  I'll get a few more in this week, but nothing longer than 4 or 5.

And happy anniversary Nicole!  I hope everyone has a fabulous Sunday!

I ended up sleeping in; didn't get out of bed until nearly 9:30! It felt great! I guess I'll do some stretching or something for my peach.

Have a great day!

It also reminds me of Lance's wacky detour during the Tour a few years ago when there was a crash and he ends up going off roading- they figured his MB and cyclo-cross experience saved him there. Glad you're ok...hope the tire is an easy fix. Were you able to fix and ride home?

ok. i give up. i know when i'm whipped. i tried,i really really did. i got all dressed, got out the door, walked for a few minutes, then ralphed in my neighbors driveway (serves her right, since she lets her dog poop on my driveway every day, and never picks it up) so i turned around and came back. i'm done. i didn't even log it, i don't think 20 yards walking really counts as a run anyway. meh, think maybe i'll go lay down with a heating pad for a bit.

Have a great 4th anniversary! I say you take the day off! but then again if you are eating out and like me....if you do a spin in the morning...then you can have that yummy dessert for dinner!  whatever you do....have a great day! and tell your partner we wish her a happy anniversary too!

What?!? And give up my Peachy month?!?

I ended up sleeping in; didn't get out of bed until nearly 9:30! It felt great! I guess I'll do some stretching or something for my peach.

Have a great day!

 NICOLE!!!!!

lyssa-gator - 2009-02-22 2:48 PM ok. i give up. i know when i'm whipped. i tried,i really really did. i got all dressed, got out the door, walked for a few minutes, then ralphed in my neighbors driveway (serves her right, since she lets her dog poop on my driveway every day, and never picks it up) so i turned around and came back. i'm done. i didn't even log it, i don't think 20 yards walking really counts as a run anyway. meh, think maybe i'll go lay down with a heating pad for a bit.

Ok girl, now I've had horrible cramps but NEVER felt like I would hurl with the lovely "time of the month !!".... you get to that doc asap !    I am very proud of you however for trying so hard to do this no matter what ! You deserve the heating pad !
