Glad to know that I'm not the only one who is having trouble concentrating at work. What happened? Is my brain in taper mode too? Geez!

It has gotten so bad that my aide has started laughing at me. I'm an elementary PE teacher. We labeled the walls of the gym north, south, east and west. The kids face different directions for their warmup exercises.  Yesterday I told the kids to lay down (for curl ups) and put their feet to the south and heads to the west. Half of the kids tried to do it. My aide started laughing and then the whole class joined her.

I'm bored......I sit around waiting for pts to show for 45 minutes with NOTHING to do then 10 people show up within 10 minutes of each other and I'm hosed.  WHY can people not show up as scheduled? Also I'm hungry and have nothing to eat.  I'm just whining.  argh.  after today 3 more working days til I can blow this pop stand.  Maybe then I'll get some enthusiasm for this race.

I can't even focus and I'm only going to be there to volunteer and cheer all of you on. I'm so excited to see an Ironman in person and to meet some of you after reading about your training. Good luck to everyone and safe travels whenever you leave.

Daremo - 2009-10-29 12:46 PM Not too mention it will do absolutely nothing to avoid cramping ..........

Good luck all!  I remember my trip down there and the week I had back in '07!

I'd stay hydrated the week before but wouldn't do anything extreme...we aren't camels so we don't store water, and our bodies are in constant flux.

Im in for a swimmy Thurs. at 9! Do we post contact #'s on here? I won't have a computer while down there...and I just found out my travel agent lied to me when she said the place is .5 miles away from finish. More like 2 miles. I'll have to cab it!

I'm in for the swim on Thursday. I'll wear my BT orange shirt...Well, it might stink by then

Ok, I know I should probably know this but someone please help. What if your chain breaks or a cable on the bike breaks?? I only know how to change a tire. Will there be bike support or is our race done. This is the scenario that worries me the most.

There are bike support vehicles for chain breaks and the like.  However, you might have to wait a while before they find you.

Cool lets just plan to meet somewhere at 9am Thurs and if we want to go again Friday we can talk about it then. Wear a BT shirt if you have one.

Edit: Where is a good landmark to meet?

Support vehicles will carry chains and tubes and simple things, but I do not think they will carry more complex things like cables/derailleurs/brakes etc.

That being said - no more negativity! Your bike will function great!

The gatorade swim start is pretty obvious.  We may want to go at 8 tho I thinkt hey stop having a gear bag check at 9....could be wrong tho

Someone just mentioned taking a cab to the race site. I have been to PCB quite a few times but I know there are people on this thread that have been more and live close. I might look at rental car or something as cabs were not prevelant. Just a thought. None of us will need SAG support, None of us will need SAG support, None of us will need SAG support. Adding this to the things to hope for.

I'm planning to swim Wed. am - hoping for 8am'ish.  Looking to do one full loop and check sighting, observe currents' impact, ID the sand bars, and just get used to the Gulf swim.

Off Thursday, small brick (final check) Friday, so another short swim then.

Cheers,
Mark

Come on now.  Are we really going to let our thread get down to fifth on the list.  I have officially lost my mind.  I cannot think about anything but the race.  I am starting to feel really fat and psychotic.  LET'S DO THIS!!!!

me neither.  Got out of work 1/2 hour late...just one thing after another..and I am talking to myself "I have to get out of here and get on the road"...everyone at work wished me well..others will be following me on Ironman.com.  Got to my hotel for the night in Western PA.  Went for a swim in the ultra-small indoor pool...mainly just did leg work...I feel so much better after getting in a swim...Head to Indiana tomorrow to get my parents for the trip.  Will try to go for a run when I get there.

For the Gatorade swim, do they have "lifeguards, kayak, etc" people while you do this swim?...or are you sort of on your own?...

travel safe everyone.

Random questions....Do people put body glide in T1 and T2 bags and run SN? Do we bring our own sunscreen? Are BOP'ers wearing sunglasses on the run? What do you do with them when it's dark? When's daylight savingstime? Is PCB Central time zone?  Once again, thanks to the smart/experienced folks here   And thank you to all who have really made me realize what a special place BT is. Knowing that people I havent even met yet show such kindness and compassion is very heartwarming. Thank you.
