Asalzwed - 2012-06-21 3:03 AM Oh boy I can't tell you all how nice it is to have a day off! From work, from training...all of it! I also managed to make my first flight (I am flying standby) and that usually doesn't happen. Woohoo! I'm so excited to see my immediate and larger family. I promise we won't set anything on fire I am at LAX right now, which sucks but I can't complain TOO much.

LAX does suck. It's one of the worst major facilities in LA.

Happy trails!!!

bcraht - 2012-06-20 1:01 PM BTW, I don't begrudge anyone changing their avatar/profile pic, but it really confused the HECK out of me!  Sealed

I said the same thing to Chris but then I went and changed mine.  Oops!

I lke the change, it keeps me on my toes. Is that from 3MM?

I'll probably change mine again here in a bit. I've heard that change is good.

Oh and I got to cuddle the piglet (of course) ... and a lion.

I admit, I checked out during the cat conversation. But, "Shut The Front Door!", who gets to hang out with lions? Your life is like none I have ever seen before. That is completely awesome!

It's time for some BAD-AZZ peanut butter and jam Sam, I have been cleared for take-off!  Who-Hoo!  There's an easy 18 mile group ride that starts 5 minutes from my house this evening, that'll be a nice start.  A few of my masters swim buds will be there that I haven't seen for weeks.  Now I can lose some of this weight I've gained over the last 6 weeks.

That's great news and after 6 weeks you won't have the 'why bother' thing going on that lots of us seem to!  I certainly do.

however - it's 8 weeks until Sydney City2Surf which is a 14km hilly run.  80,000 people real fun weekend away.  Then 1 week later I have a half marathon near home which will be good fun.

I should also have my training plan ready by then so will be back into it.

I've been so sleepy since Cairns - you don't realise how much a big race takes out of you.  It is very unlike me to fall alseep on the couch and the past two weeks I've done that every night!

Doesn't help that it's cold dark and raining!

How cool, I heard that working in the T1 tent is fun, you get to talk to the athletes at least.  I hear a lot of stories about people working the T1 tent, then going the race the following year and seeing the same volunteers from the year before.  Usually there are repeat volunteers there.

You know this is where it all begins....it's what happened to me!  Ok - T1 is awesome because so many triathletes really struggle with the swim and they are so relieved (you get to strip the wettie off unfortunately they only assign females to females, males to males )

I did Special Needs Bike Aid Station - fast and furious but I got to hand Crowie his bag and he won the race and I like to think without me doing that, he would not have!

The other good one to do is Catching on the finish line.  In fact if you're up for a long day you can do T1 and Catcher!

Then sign yourself up for 2013 - you know you want to.

Just had a nice ride in the beautiful weather we got for the first day of summer.  Just 20km, but a couple good hills in there.  Practiced getting my rear wheel off and on when I got home.  Figured out the trick to make it easy--lay the chain on the smallest cog and it just falls right into the dropouts.  Just have to remember that...

Nice one Kirsten. Lovely, selfless thing to volunteer so that others can benefit.

My money is with Jo's though. Guess i'll be tuning into the ironman channel for IM Canada in 2013.

That is great, a few hills, a nice ride, and a great learning experience, all in one. You can't beat that.
