I just realized over the weekend that school starts in a month. It is starting over a week earlier this year than it has in the past. I need to start getting school supplies and taking the kiddos shopping for clothes and shoes. I'm not buying Caleb pants until at least October. I swear he is taller every morning.

We were talking while we were on vacation about next year either leaving a few days early, or coming home a few days later and combining our trip to the beach with a visit to you. Of course it all depends on which week his family picks to go to the beach and what your summer plans are. I'll let you know as soon as they decide, but that won't be until December or January.

Let us know. The only "definite" plans we have for the summer are Memorial Day weekend, Picking up Mom weekend (usually the weekend after Memorial Day), Highland Games (week after 4th of July). I hate that you can't come this year, but you never know... you could change your mind

Does his family go to the same beach each summer, or do they pick a different location each time?

They have been going to Oak Island for 30+ years now. The dates change, the houses change, but it is always the same beach.

Believe me I have thought about just running away for a weekend in order to maintain my sanity!

I'm just not sure my car would make the trip.

Good Morning, Ghoulies!

I am feeling good after our BUSY weekend, but still a little tired.  Couldn't possibly be age, could it?  Wink

Saturday our car club hosted our annual car show.  We take stuff to the site on Friday evening, then arrive at 6:00 on Saturday morning.  Busy time of set up!  Cars start arriving at 7:00 (official start time is 9:00, but this is typical of car shows).  We finished the last of the cleanup about 3:30 or 4:00 that afternoon.  Between that time, I was on my feet walking from one station to another except for about 15 minutes when I ate lunch.  Whew!

We had great weather, and a really good turn out.  95 participant cars entered in the show and 18 host club cars.  The participants vote on two trophies, Best of Show   and   Best Host Car.   We won Best Host Car!  That is especially cool because it is all of those "car guys" that are picking your car.  This is the only trophy at our show that the host cars are eligible for, so it is quite the honor!

On Sunday, we had church in the morning, the new dog sitter we are going to use during our trip came by to work with the dogs one more time before we leave, and then potluck and games with friends in the evening.  Some of them were staying until after dark to look thru a new telescope that one of the guys brought.  But we were too beat, and came home about 8:30.

A couple of more days to work and then we are off to California for a week!  Whoo hoo!

Getting up and going to work this morning was ROUGH!

Caleb started basketball camp last night. He rolled his ankle twice. The second time he screamed and hit the floor when it happened. He saw the trainer, who wants to see him again first thing this morning. I had to help him walk to the car, into the house, and to the shower last night. He said it hurts worse this morning than last night. He may be done for the week.

Ouch!  Hope the trainer can get him going again soon!

Finale is over.  Branch is getting back to normal.  I won't be posting any pictures cause we are very careful regarding pictures taken and only having them used for the library.  Just know there were lots of very happy faces in here this morning.  The magician is one that has been to the library many times over the years so it was really nice to see him again.

Good morning Ghoulies!

Did you hear it? Last night, just before 7:00, did you hear the giant fall?

Keri's softball team beat her old team, who was undefeated on the season, and had beat her team twice this year, and the top ranked team, 6-2 in the semi-finals of the league championship tournament! Keri played a great game throwing out 2 runners at third, walking twice, getting a hit, and scoring a run. Our girls WANTED to win that game. Our pitcher went out and was on fire, she just kept sitting them down in order. Our girls were scoring, while they were striking out and you could see our girls get even more pumped while they deflated quickly. By the 5th and final inning, where they scored their 2 it didn't even matter because there is a 5 run rule and at that point they couldn't win. I don't think I've stopped smiling since last night.

I had less than 4 hours sleep last night because I was so pumped about Keri's game, and in other sporting news Caleb played basketball all day yesterday. He saw the trainer who told him it would be okay if he sat out this week, the decision was his. Caleb played ball.

Donnie went to watch their 5v5 games last night, and pick the boy up while I was at the softball game. He said Caleb played hard and was smiling the whole time. He was rebounding, he was shooting, he was having fun. He played a team that had not only 1 of his teammates on it but the kid is without a doubt the best player on Caleb's school team. Donnie said Caleb hung right in there with him fighting him for rebounds and even blocking one of his shots. He said both boys were smiling and talking to each other during the game, but they were playing hard.

So can someone please wake me up in time to go home so I can continue my nap there?

Oh... and Keri's championship game is next Tuesday night at 8:30 under the lights. Why would you schedule a game for 10 year olds at 8:30 at night? :-/

Hi. I am alive. Pretty tired since ironman and its been a bit crazy with residency starting. Huge mentality shift and the responsibility freaks me out the majority of the time. Apparently this is normal. Been deciding what I want to do with races and so far have decided on a Half marathon in Victoria the weekend before hitting up Seattle with my mom for an emergency medicine conference in October. Might do a Oly tri in August in Kelowna but undecided at the moment.

3 more emerg shifts and then I am on family med for 2 mo. I've met a dude here too. He's a homicide cop/detective/investigator--whichever term you want to use.

Hi Princess!!

I hear the transition is a difficult mental one. You will be just perfect at it.

Nice on the man-friend. Before I met Jim, I loved dating cops. They are "here to serve" if you know what I mean

Just spent over an hour and a half with the investigator doing my re-check for my security clearance.

He told me that someone in New Cumberland, the place I worked before here where I was absolutely miserable, said some less than pleasant things about me. I don't care. I know at least 1 gov't person there hated me, and that's probably who they talked to because she's 'important' in the department. I'm not losing sleep over it. I told him how I felt about being there, and I told him about her, they can all kiss my backside for all I care. I'm WAY better off now than I was then.

Sunglasses hide closed eyes while you nap. Just don't drool on the electronics.

Seriously, sleep is not a luxury, it is a necessity.
