Also, just making sure everyone here knew about chainlove.

www.chainlove.com

They sell one item at a time at drastically reduced prices.  I am on there all day looking to find something I need pop up.  They have a little program you can install on your desktop that pops up every time a new item is for sale.

I'm totally addicted to that site and their other sites, steapandcheap.com and tramdock.com that do the one item deal, as well as the parent site backcountry.com which has 20% off right now.

Tony,  I might be headed out to DC in December.  I find out next week if there's room in the budget for me to attend a conference.

Cool, let me know if you will be up over here.  AFAIK we will be around all month.

Going to go out on Sunday and cheer on the Marine Corps Marathon folks for a bit.  The route goes less than a mile from my house.

Thanks for the info on Chainlove. Maybe I can get some stuuf I will need for next years HIM.

On another note. I have just got back from a swim session. About 1800 meters overall. I am still really tired after workouts these days. Is this normal once you get into the longer distances?

speaking of swimming, I am thinking of joining the Masters group at my pool.  Does anyone belong to a Masters group?  I am not clear how they work. There are coaches on hand but I'm sure its not run like a swimming lesson.  Any thoughts?

My wife goes to masters for her swimming and I have been to one or two.

At this particular one they have stroke clinics 2x a week, Mondays is always freestyle and Wednesday is whatever stroke he feels like teaching.  Each lane is designed for certain speed swimmers, the ones in the far right are the super fast people and each lane gets progressively(sp?) slower.  The coaches are available to ask questions and such.  Sometimes they might offer suggestions as they see you swim.

I wasn't overly impressed with the coaches at hers but YMMV at your masters class.  Alot of people seem to like them, they usually give you a freebie your first night so doesn't hurt to check it out.

Thought you guys would forget about that one.... I decided not go to... $$$/TIME, etc... I think I lost my "mojo" after Canada.... I would have probably finished right in the middle of the back based on the results, and my qualifing time!!! There is always next time.

No offense to anyone, but racing in the middle of the desert and swimming in a resevoir doesn't appeal to me... AT ALL!!!!!!

I am such a good salesmen!! I talked my wife into joining me bouldering, and she is TERRIFIED of heights!  I didn't realize it was THAT BAD for her (her fear of heights), but SHE ROCKED IT!! Got up there, climbed some routes (hands and arms shaking with fear)!!!  She said she felt better the more she did, but SHE IS A STRONG CHICKA!! I am proud of her for even attempting it!

You too. Have a 3500M swim today, going to try out the wetsuit again, haven't swam more than 300M in it so far.

Going tomorrow to cheer on some BT'ers in the MCM, it comes within a mile of my house I figure I can walk down and cheer them on for a bit.  Then having a halloween party for 20+ kids under the age of 5 at my house.

So busy weekend.

Yay 30k race today (18.667 ish miles). Race report up. Longest run ever was last week at like 15 miles. This run was significantly harder.... with 8800 + total assent and decent, very steep hills, dirt, rocks, dry leaves, 8 stream crossings. Roughly 10 major climbs. Verry challenging course with the steepness and poor footing etc. I finished in 2:55 or a 9:28 min mile pace and had 1:30, 1:25 split for the run.

I took what I learned from my HIM and hit the GU 30 min from the finish and did not run out of gas. The guy who was ahead of me (in my age group) for 16 miles.... ran out of a gas 2 miles ish from the end, probly due to nutrition.

I almost placed, was 4/7 in my age group and missed 3rd by less than 2 minutes. I was 12/38 overall. In my age group 1st place in age group was 1st place for entire race and 2nd in age group was 3rd for entire race. Sucks to be 40 something. Oh well, I finished fater than I had anticipated, so much so that my family was um not there when I finished.

I had 3 sons do the 1.35 mile race and my oldest son got 2nd place overall and his team got first place winning $900 towards their track/cross country team equipment (donated by the race group from entry fees (kids ran for free).

Oh well off to get some more fluids.

Sounds like it was a very successful race for the kids and for yourself.  It's always good to be able to apply what you've learned from one race to the next.

swbkrun - 2008-10-24 4:28 PM HOPE EVERYONE HAS A GREAT ADVENTUROUS WEEKEND!!!!!!!!!!  Don't forget good wine, and good laughs with good people!!! !!!!

Our adventures this weekend were more like mini scavenger hunts.  Lily's new thing is moving things from one room to another - keys, cell phones and remotes are her favorite.

The wife and I did get to go out to dinner alone Saturday and then to a "birthday/passed the bar" party for a friend.  No wine, but good beer and good friends.  And to top it off, the Seahawks didn't look atrocious yesterday.

Saturday it rained all day.

Sunday, JS'd at the MCM, I told the people I knew that I would be wearing an orange jumpsuit so they would see me.  Then had a big halloween party with all the neigborhood kids at my house.

Comet stopped racing and had her friend take our picture.

Great picture. It looks like a lot of fun.  BUT WHY AREN'T YOU RUNNING?!?!!

I too had a fun weekend.  We hosted our 5th annual adult costume halloween party. The theme this year was Heroes and Villains.  There was a very drunk, 60+ year old tooth fairy, Captain Underpants (complete with skid marks), Lex Luthor, a sub-prime mortgage lender, and a pair of deviled eggs.  It was a lot of fun.

Doing Shamrock 1/2 in Virginia Beach in March and still debating on which full to do.  Either MCM or Wineglass in NY.

What did you wear to the party?  Inquiring minds want to know.

I was too pooped from all my racing to give my costume much thought this year.  I took the easy way out and sported a Dara Torres swim cap with my bathing suit.  She certainly is my hero!  After watching her performance both in and out of the water at the last olympics I think  she is a very classy lady.  And not too shabby looking either
