Random questions....Do people put body glide in T1 and T2 bags and run SN? Do we bring our own sunscreen? Are BOP'ers wearing sunglasses on the run? What do you do with them when it's dark? When's daylight savingstime? Is PCB Central time zone?  Once again, thanks to the smart/experienced folks here   And thank you to all who have really made me realize what a special place BT is. Knowing that people I havent even met yet show such kindness and compassion is very heartwarming. Thank you.

I put body glide in t1 and t2 bags...if you feel you needed in sn bag then it doesn't hurt.

They will have sunscreen, but i have heard sometimes the run out, so doens't hurt to have your own.

It gets dark around 5:30pm.

Daylight savings time is this weekend.

PCB is central time

Body Glide -- if you plan to re-apply, you will need it in multiple bags
Sunscreen -- IM has some, but they could run out (per Kathy), so not a bad idea to have your own
Sunglasses -- I will wear them and then drop them in special needs / throw them to family / stuff them in a pocket
Time zone -- PCB is central time and daylight savings start this weekend, so the sun will be setting around 5 pm on race day

I love BT and hope to meet a bunch of you guys.  I am in for a swim at 9 on Thursday.

Just got this in an email from my IMFL yahoo group.

Funny- Maybe i need to put some in my special needs bag. lol

He's My Brother - Priceless      Two young boys walked into a pharmacy one day, picked out a box of tampons and proceeded to the checkout counter.   The man at the counter asked the older boy, "Son, how old are you?"    "Eight," the boy replied.   The man continued, "Do you know what these are used for?"   The boy relied, "Not exactly, but they aren't for me.  They're for him.  He's my brother. He's four. We saw on TV that if you use these you would be able to swim and ride a bike. Right now, he can't do either."

Trivol - 2009-10-29 4:13 PM Someone just mentioned taking a cab to the race site. I have been to PCB quite a few times but I know there are people on this thread that have been more and live close. I might look at rental car or something as cabs were not prevelant. Just a thought. None of us will need SAG support, None of us will need SAG support, None of us will need SAG support. Adding this to the things to hope for.

Cab service is slow at PCB. I am staying 2 miles from the race site. I am bring in my own cab IE my old mountain bike with big fat tires on it. Easy to park and the fare is pretty cheap.

In the event you don't have the mountain bike option...there is a company near there that rents golf carts that can be driven on a public rd. They are tagged like a vehicle. They aren't cheap but if you are going to get it for a few days they might give you a deal. Go on line and put in PCB golf cart rentals. They will actually deliver it to you, I think. My parents are going and have bum knees and I was considering getting them one. But the cost was kinda high for 1 day and that is all they would have needed.

I have been sweatin' pickles about mechanical issues also. I took my bike in for its IMFL ck up and after paying quite the sum have had to take it back twice. I rode some today and things were good. I hope they stay that way.

Its funny, but we have 140.6 miles to go that day and I am most worried about the first 2.4. I have always been told that to be really ready for IM you should go lie on the beach and let someone beat you with a bat. Then you are ready for the swim. YIKES!!

7 Days and change......  Accuweather forecast (70/54) mostly sunny, Weather Channel forecast (77/63) rainy!  Water temp 74.3 degrees.

It is interesting to see the difference between Accuweather and Weather Channel.  I am going to go ahead and root for Accuweather.

Well Florida peeps, I'm sad about this, but I'm not going to be in PCB with you guys this year.  My responsibilities to my Soldiers as an Army Officer are taking priority over this race.  Due to some incredible friends and reason for my pulling from IMFL, I am fortunate enough to be able to do IMAZ '09.

I will be rooting and tracking y'all on 11-7-09, and it will be weird to not be there with you.  I just might have try and sign up online for 2010...so much for not doing back to back Ironmans.

Be safe this next week, don't try to cram training in...I'll probably try to cram in some long stuff this weekend if my current obligations allow! Just when I thought I was done...

KICK BUTT IMFL'ERS!

You will be missed in PCB, but at least we have someone to root and pull for in AZ.  Thanks for all that you do for us and our country and for everything during the prep for IMFL.

Sorry you won't be able to race with us - you'll do great in IMAZ It must have been tough to make that decision.

What does everyone wear under their wetsuit?  I need the full padding of bike shorts for 112 miles so am not wearing my tri bottoms, but don't know if I should wear the bike shorts i under the wetsuit or just a swim suit and then slip bike shorts on in the transition.  Any advice?  Has anyone rode in wet bike shorts before?  any issues?

thanks!

I require full padded bike shorts as well.  I will be wearing my tri-suit under the wetsuit.  In T1 I just throw on the pair of full-padded bike shorts over my tri-suit and go.  Makes for a pretty fast transition without losing the comfort factor.

I am wearing a bathing suit under my wet suit and then after the peel hitting the changing tent. I usually wear tri shorts in the water and then just jump on the bike as everyone does. I have to believe that the wicking fabric of the shorts would dry but the padding....? My guess would be--YUCK, for 112 miles after that. The padded shorts over the tris are a good idea, but does the tri suit underneath get enough air to dry? Maybe with your goals, it wouldn't matter so much to you as the time saved vs the comfort of the dryness.

Just completed a poll of my male friends who did IMFL last year...they wore tri shorts under their wetsuits and thats all they wore for the bike after. Thats just their .02. Being a Southern Belle, I personally favor comfort over speed, but that me. Oh, fiddley dee...

Im wearing tri shorts, sports bra and rash guard for swim under wetsuit. T1 rash guard off, bike jersey on, slather self w/ chamois butter. I guess with all my "natural padding" the regular bike shorts have too much padding and I'm more comfy w/ just tri shorts.

I'm doing 2 full wardrobe changes.  My plan is jammers under the wetsuit, then in T1 change into a bike kit (I prefer bib shorts) and then change into running shorts at T2.  It adds time to my transitions, but I figure if I'm going to be spending close to 2/3rds of a day doing this thing, I should be as comfortable as I can get...
