Oh, and how can anyone tell that I'm delirious as opposed to how I usually am? :D

For excellent news, my fever peaked at under 101F tonight. So. Happy. I also thought I would like to have a yogurt drink (have had no appetite for anything but have been making myself eat iron rich foods) ... AND I found it delicious!

My diagnosis wasn't that far out if you are pleased with 101. I thought you were supposed to eat toast when you were iffy. and how much iiron do pop tarts contain??

1.2g of non-heme iron per tart, thank you very much.

Bless you for suffering through the ridiculousness to find that gem.

So I just got a travel reimbursement from work (woot!) and I decided to buy an indoor trainer. I was particularly motivated b/c I haven't been out on my bike in TWO WEEKS, partly b/c my coached class is over, partly because I went away, and partly because it's rained ALL WEEK here.  So, it seemed like the trainer was a worthy purchase. I cheaped out and bought a RAD on Amazon, but I figure if it sucks or breaks, Amazon is really good about returns.  Now, what do people do for workouts? I've heard about those Spinervals, but I was thinking I'd like to watch my DRV'd TV shows that hubby won't watch (e.g., The Voice and Mad Men).  Should I try to set up an interval workout on my Garmin and have it beep at me?

Personally, I am a huge fan of TrainerRoad which I partner with watching TV (hockey, DVR'd shows, movies, whatever).  I have my laptop set up next to my bike so I can reach it and see it.  It has made a huge difference in my willingness to get on the trainer this winter/spring.  In fact, last week I did a trainer workout without it for the first time in months and just about went batty.

I *think* they have a month free demo (could be wrong) but if you choose to pay for it, it is only $10/month and there are tons of workouts to choose from including Spinervals broken down by duration, type of workout, intensity, etc.  There is a long but good thread on TrainerRoad on BT here somewhere.  The 2 guys that created it have a very personal touch and are very much vested in their project (quick responses to any troubleshooting issues) and they continue to try to make their product even better.

Some workouts come with 'instructions' to help users know what they should be doing, how they should be feeling during the workout, others are without instructions.

You can even enter in which trainer you have and it has an algorithm for determining power (watts) that is useful, and if you have a HRM and/or cadence sensor or other gadgets it can help provide even more meaningful numbers.  Mine syncs with my HRM and cadence sensor, so I have a better feel of what my body is doing inside and out (other than sweating buckets!).

Sorry, I could go on and on about it, I like it that much.  I just made myself stop writing more info!

And you should have a fan.  Trust me, it makes life so much better!

Groan. I'm not even well enough to be an addict right now. So sad. Because with the way I can usually eat Pop Tarts, I'd be up to my iron needs in a jif. Provided I ate them with some kind of Vitamin C source.

Heme, meme, creme, theme!

More incentive for Yanti to get better:

That's SO BEAUTIFUL!!! Especially the Spring Berry one. Look at it, just bursting with joy and goodness. All that AND real fruit? It HAS to be good for you.

I can't think of a better get-well card. Thank you!

Busy Pod this weekend!

  • Reece - have a blast with the 5K (and tons of riding afterward)
  • Adrienne - Lilac Bloomsday!  50,000 runners, are you kidding me?!
  • Claire - Mini Marathon!  Not to be outdone by Ms. Lilac Bloomsday, Claire is running the nation's largest half marathon!
  • Erica - graduation!

Woo hoo!

HAVEN'T YOU FORGOT SOMEONE JANYNE??

I THOUGHT JMKIZER  (whoever she is) HAD SOME SORT OF RAMBLE GOING OFF ON SUNDAY?

It's not really a race.  It's, well, more ramble-ish but it is 100+ miles of rambling.
