shelly123 - 2008-03-24 9:45 AM I think we should go cheer BITM on for the Marathon! Just like he cheered us on at Jingle!! Then do a fun VAMDDCBTTC night on Sat night

I would like to see ya all at the Finish line, I was thinking taking a train with Alex and Stas there. Unfortunately we will not be able to party on Sat night because it is my father's birthday and I have to cook and throw the party.

I'd like to run around the mall if possible Sunday while we wait...where is the finish? close to a metro? I'm not familiar at all with the course.

and the race is Saturday, not Sunday.

hmm SOMEONE told me Sunday.  like I said, I"m not familiar.  Ok, Saturday.  Sunday is the Backyard Burn, I'm thinking of doing that if its still open.

I will allow you to do that backyard burn, only if there aren't any animals in the woods that will step on you...

You thinking the 5 miler or the 10 miler? That may be a fun training run

10, very slowly. My two friends are doing it (the ones I rode/ran with yesterday) and I still haven't had my pre training run for CB.  I'd be Gallowaying it, for sheezy.  Its still open.

rollinsw - 2008-03-24 9:02 AM My bracket strategy (which was planned out well ahead of time) of lurking at the back of the pack through the first 1/2 of the tournament is working! Ha ha ha ha ha!

Unlike BITMs strategy to stay at the bottom of the pack from start to finish

It's called "boosting everyone else's ego."

It's is a small marathon, not too many people, so you could run there (just don't take gatorade)

You guys could meet me at mile 19-22 when I'm really hurting and be my pace crew and motivate me to the finsih.  I'll probably be slowing from a 9:45 pace to a 10:30-10:45 pace by that point.

That of course would be the Anacostia portion of the marathon.. haha

Maybe it is a good thing that the end takes you through Anacostia; so that I can avoid being shot, I may run faster at the end than any other portion.

Mile 19 is near the Navy Yard metro station.  7.2 mile run anyone?

don't mention "kill" "anacostia" or "marathon" in front of Z.   she doesn't need to worry about your a$$.  I think thats a great idea....maybe mile 18 and get 8 miles in.  Of course you may still betoo fast for me.

I doubt I'll be too fast for anyone at that point.  9:45 is ideal and somewhat dreamy for the first 19-20 miles.  After that, I'm looking at close to 11:00 per mile plus walk breaks.  My new strategy is to run the first 20 miles in 3:15 so I have 1:15 to run 6.2 miles and still make my goal of 4:30.  Remember the last 6.2 are as hard as the first 20.

You do realize you're talking to someone that in doing the math at my IM was worried at some point that I should be able to complete a 10K in 3 hours, right?  And that I had to do a mary in 8.

Okay Turtle, we are talking about just a run here.  No swimming plus biking.  You don't even have to do the previous 20 miles.  Your last run you did 5 miles in 47 min, just add 1.2 more and do the whole thing slower.  Your good to go.

don't mention "kill" "anacostia" or "marathon" in front of Z. she doesn't need to worry about your a$$.

Are we actually talking about pacing/goals/race strategy in this thread? damn. what's next? nutrition talk or should I get a road or tri bike questions?

okay, let's switch topics: Who is sleeping w/ Z and I at Kinetic.

Oops, no one is touching that one!

Murphy!

He has slept with 6 bters, and is always looking to pad his count.

Just like his pround Mom.

I plan on jumping into everyone's bed to get to the point.

really?  I can't wait.

I'd come out and watch the end of the marathon, but I've got a 40 mile ride on Saturday morning for century training. We just got a "real" training plan, so I've got that to follow now as well. Except, according to the training plan, we have a 65-mile ride the day before Kinetic (and a 45-miler the day before CB, which I will probably only do half of at most, and easy at that). Kinetic is only a sprint and it's not like I'm gonna win my AG or anything, but I feel like 65 miles is a lot the day before a race.

It is a lot considering it is the day before a race.  Most of us sane people would take it easy, but you are a hard charger so I expect you'll double that distance.
