Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I ordered a couple of books off Amazon yesterday. Yippee! Including this one book about training your brain for weight loss by Dr. Beck, who I met once. It's about the distorted thinking that causes people to be unsuccessful at their diets. I'll let you guys know if it's any good. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() ![]() I have one precious can of sweet lovin' Diet Dew left. I'm going to cradle it tonight, pour it into a beautifully chilled glass and whisper sweet nothings to it. Then I'm going to drink it one more time and say, "Goodbye, my love. You're just no good for me. And I have to let you go." That gives me a cushion of three practice days before the no-sugar challenge begins Sunday. The lime water is treating me pretty good. ![]() |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() They're going to announce in 10 mins. who's leaving the company, I think. One person's come around the department already to say he has been "selected to leave," but he is 64 and now has a nice severance package. I hope he is the only one in my department ... |
![]() ![]() |
Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() yes, only one person in my immediate department. These are sad times, though, and I can only hope there are no more layoffs. |

Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Good morning Susie, As of a few weeks ago I've mostly given up my diet soda, in large part because you helped me realize that it doesn't really do anything positive for my body (but it sure does taste swell). I'm still drinking one can with my lunch at work. I'm not a big pastry or doughnut eater but I have to keep myself from starting a bag of pretzels and eating the whole thing. My body is happiest when I eat something every three or four hours; it's always a struggle to keep these snacks nutritious and to a minimum. |

Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I've got a few things to give away! First: a Polar S150 cyclocomputer and heart rate monitor. It's a wired computer; in addition to the standard sensor for the front wheel I also have a sensor that will reach the rear wheel, allowing it to record rides on the trainer stand. Second: a Zoot triathlon top, as seen here and here . The built in shelf bra is good enough for me, but YMMV. I think it's an extra large but will have to double check tonight. |

I hate shopping for gloves because it's tough to find any that fit my hands. I usually end up buying men's gloves. And I *should* buy a new helmet because mine is getting on the old side. But it's just soooo comfy! |

For me, I don't think it's necessary to totally eliminate it. I was not a really big soda drinker anyway. On a typical day I'd drink one 12oz can with lunch and then about 18-24oz with dinner. I figure every time I drink water instead I'm doing something good for my body and saving a few dollars. Since we don't have it in the house my daughter is now also drinking water with dinner most of the time even though I never asked her to; I still give her the option. |

This is a result of old shopping. I've had these sitting around for a long time now. I tried to sell the Polar on ebay but didn't get any takers. Regarding the top, part of why I replaced it is I didn't like the way it looks when unzipped. Yes, vanity. Oh, I just remembered that I have another cyclocomputer. It a great wireless unit called the Cateye Double Wireless . This is what I replaced the polar with and then I replaced both with a Garmin Forerunner 305 (I love data!) |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() i'm going to have to start keeping a note pad by the computer, so i can take notes while i catch up!! there were so many posts i was going to comment on, and now i can't remember them all. anyway, the diet soda-i am an absolute addict susie, so i think you're a freaking rock star to give it up. i told a friend of mine i was giving up meat for lent, and she said "i think God would be more impressed if you gave up diet coke, or coffee" but i got all sweaty just thinking about it!! so meat it is. LOL i wasn't raised Catholic, but i grew up in the Lutheran church, my dad is/was a Lutheran minister, and he LOVES theology, so i have lots of things like that stored up in my itty bitty brain. LOL TI-i have the book, and i love the concept, i've watched some vids on youtube, but i'd LOVE to go to a TI camp! i saw a vid on youtube of a comparison-a guy before a TI camp, and the same guy after. i DEFINATELY look like the before guy!! the difference was amazing too! oh yeah, the swimsuit/sail--i had the SAME problem, but it was with my swimsuit bottoms!! every time i kicked off the wall, the butt of my suit would fill up with water!! needless to say, i haven't worn that suit since, if anyone wants it--it's TOTALLY up for grabs!! LOL as far as meatless dinner goes, anyone is invited of COURSE!! LOL dh works the 2-10pm shift, so he's only home for dinner on his days off, which means i can make meatless dinner 5 nights a week! a typical dinner here at chez gaither would be black beans and rice, with home made bread. or home made pasta (yes i DO make my own) with home made pesto ( my sister makes it, and we trade, pasta for pesto) giant salad, green beans, and home made bread. sometimes if i'm short on time or motivation, we have quiche, or a hotdish kind of thing, like lentil hotdish (yum) anyway, roundabout, that's our gig. ![]() ok, i just realized this is like an epic post here, so i'm done rambling. |
