Aikidoman - 2009-02-17 10:43 AM For the last year, I had to be in at work by 7.  Now, due to the reduced hours, I get in at 8.  It sort of feels like I get to sleep in every day.  I'm sure that feeling will go away sooner or later.

well my morning sux because a few months back the wife and I decided to turn in my car that was on a lease to save some money.. so since the wife and i are now on different work schedules... she gets to wake up at 6 also to take me to work... and let me say that is a pleasurable time for all...

I've got so many tales to tell TAN, but it's a slow...

But speaking of cars, I dusted off the motorcycle and worked on it over the long weekend (long for me).  I'm going to use the economy as an excuse to ride it to work.

BTW, something I learned the hard way.  Completely discharging a battery is BAD.  Do it too many times and it's toast.  I ruined a brand new motor cycle battery that way (85 bucks down the drain).  I needed a new battery and a battery tender (something to hook up to it to keep it charged).

I also need to drain the gas tank, add some stabalizer, and add new gas to get it running.  It wasn't starting for a long time, so I thought I might have to take it apart or get it serviced, but after the 'gunk' got worked through the engine, now it's running better.

Moral of the story?  Engines don't like sitting around doing nothing for months at a time unless properly prepared to do so.

Story #2.

So the reason the coffee machine was down yesterday...

We had an old vendor.  They installed the coffee machine, the water dispensor, and supplied the coffee.  Well, they were too expensive, so we went with a cheaper company (but the service is BETTER!).  They installed everything and the old vendor took all their equipment.

Well apparently, the old vender had installed a valve to tap into the building's water supply.  That valve was now being used by the new equipment.

So the old vendor came in on Friday, when we only have 2-3 people at the office and removed the valve and didn't tell anyone.  So there was no water feed to the new equipment.

Is that just a classic case of 'sour grapes' or what?  Basically, "if I can't play, I'm taking my valve and going home"...

Pretty shady.  could have at least told someone that it would need to be replaced....

I'm grumpy.  I faxed an order to purchasing last week (2/9).  They have to approve it because it is over $5,000.  But, I filled out all of the forms for approval months ago and they did the competitive bidding process and approved orders in general. There shouldn't be any issues with my orders going through.

I called the company today and the order hasn't been placed.  Called purchasing and they are placing the order today.  Apparently they got the order yesterday.  How does something get lost in the fax machine for a week?

Someone got lazy or dropped the ball, it sounds.

Or figured it was someone else's problem and ignored it.

I'm thinking of doing a 45 min stairmaster workout instead of a 45min run (but counting it as a run in my logs).  Is that so bad?

I figure my heart and lungs doen know the difference

Probably a tougher workout.  Tell you what, I'll tag off to you and you can climb the tower and ring the bell for me at the 1/2-way point of the Mary I'm running at the beginning of April.  Yep.  The 1/2-way mark is getting to the top of the tower and running back down.  OUCH!

A co-worker gave me a Ghirardelli Intense Dark Twilight Delight piece of chocolate.  It's sealed in a little package that makes it look like a prophylactic.  I asked him if it was ribbed, and he responded "for her pleasure".  He's got a pretty good sense of humor.

That sounds like a fun race....  I like unusual stuff like that.

I did the "Alferd Packer" race in Colorado a couple times.

It was SO cool.  Done in March, so freezing, but you still had to run in swamps, across rivers, over sand dunes and marshy areas....

They had a half mary, full, and ultra.  I always did the half....

Wow...they sent someone in to get a valve?  That seems really strange.
