Is everyone going to bring a pump to transition and then just have a family member hold it?

Enjoy the day - all of it. I am sitting here smiling thinking about laying on my bed at the Galt House last year at this time. I don't think I slept at all the night before.

Soak it all in and remember to slow down and enjoy the finish chute - you will remember it for the rest of your life.

Go Hard!

Yes there will be access to the bikes in the am and if you need to like me access to run and bike bags. I forgot to put my running shoes in my bag... Really? Yep!

4:30 wake up
5:00 t1
5:30 wait in line for an hour and half... Seams redicilous to me

Also something else that pisses me off is that they throw away your special needs bags if you don't take something with you. There's thousands of dollars worth of tubes co2 valves nutrition etc. That just seMs redicilous to menkust to throw it away if you decide not to take it. They should at least collect it and donate it to someone some where??? Anyone agree? If I lived here I would throw them all in my truck and sort them out at home... Probably a lot of usefull stuff and al
E not but at least it wouldn't all be trashed.....

Time for dinner and bed

Wow toasty out there! Hope everyone is out there racing smart. My training group friend looks like she might have missed a bike cut off... no splits for her past mile 40. I feel bad for her.

Kicks some butt out there BTers!

and? How did we all do? Hit goals? Finish? It was crazy hot. I truly was broken in the run. My marathon time was disgusting, but I finished and had a great bike and swim!Hope everyone did well!Heard some amazing stories with some people I ran with... Multiple flats, bent rims, cracked frames.... But all still out on the run. Hope those guys finished!

Yesterday was fun.

My goal was sub 13 and wanted to average 1:45/100 on the swim 18mph on bike and 5hr mary.

Actual was 12:49:27 with 1:52/100 on the swim 18.04 and 5:06 mary.  I was able to run the first 20 mile on the run with walk break but at 20 miles my legs said no more.  I was able to run the finish shoot like I was running on a cloud though.

Sore this morning but feel pretty good.  Headed over to the IM store to buy stuff then get on the road.

Thanks to all for the support over the last 9 months!  The race was a day of attrition but I'm made it through.  My "run" was more of a slog as the knees took a hiatus at about mile 5 and I had to walk the rest but it gave me the chance to meet some good folks.

Recovering nicely today, with the exception of blister and swollen knees.  Hope everyone made it to the end!

Ironman is about overcoming challenges so I had an awesome day. From elbows in the eye on swim, a bad stomach that prevented me from taking in any nutrition after hour 4 on the bike. Which led to complete leg cramping on the run. So after nobrunnig final 8 miles I finished with 12 minutes to spare. Nowhere near my goal, but I never gave up.

A perfect example for the kids when they say they can't do something because they have a boo boo. I now can tell them to sit down and listen to my story!

Great job, way to persevere!

I had a great swim and bike (for me) and only a 5 hr marathon stood between about a 12:30 finishing time.  Unfortunately the heat and stupid decisions caused big time stomach problems starting at mile 4 of the run so I ended up walking/vomiting to an almost 7 hr marathon.  If I had done other IM's before I am pretty sure I would have quit.  I'm still happy to have just finished in about 14:40 with that 96 degree heat - I heard a lot of people talking about how it was the toughest IM they've done, plus with what I saw in the medical place afterwards (and on the course), it could have been a lot worse.

Only thing I noticed is that some bike aid stations ran out of water, and the run stations were running out of cups and ice. Everything else was awesome

What do you think caused all of these issues?

I don't know about cracked frames but there were parts of the road that were rough.  (Most of it was very smooth but there were rough sections.)  On 2 occasions I took pause to make sure that I hadn't pinched my rear tire on a large rut.

I am a bigger guy, 6'5" & 240, resulting in a lot of stress on the rear tire.  It has made me paranoid about rear flats but I made it through the day unscathed.
