The host hotel doesn't have microwaves, so I'm looking for a hotel, condo, house that close and has a fridge and microwave. Any recommendations for accommodations? I am a little worried about being cold coming out of the water and then getting on the bike in 50 degree air. I think I will take the extra time and put on a long sleeve top. I may be regretting it by mile 70 but I don't want to freeze for the first three plus hours...... Anyone else thinking this way? |

If I get hot, I'll put my arm warmers in my jersey pockets and stash them both in my special needs bag if I feel the need. The water was chilly, but after about 50m it felt fine...I know that putting on all my bear gear/compression sleeves with numb hands will be a challenge, but I'm not worried about a few minutes lost in transition... Have a great race! |

I swam in TTL last Saturday then rode right after. I was cold so I put on a jacket but regretted it by mile 10. Tomorrow I'm going with arm warmers and a dry jersey and just expect to be chilly for a while. |

Really not much colder than spring lake temps in MN. I've got some arm warmers that are stretchy, loose wool sock material that I'm going to use for the first lap then either ditch or leave in my SN bag. For the one that asked about the hotel, I'm staying at the Courtyard Marriott which is about two blocks further from the start than the host hotel. Nice room, they brought us a fridge and microwave, and less $ than the host hotel. |

It's about 3.5 miles from the race site and a very easy drive. |

Champion 19812 MA | Subject: RE: Ironman Arizona : Official Thread Cheap way to keep warm early on the bike is put a gallon ziplock up your jersey in the front, then ditch it when you warm up at aid station. It acts somewhat like a vest keeping your core warm and only costs pennies. Have a great day out there tomorrow BTers! |

Instead, I will be volunteering at the bike aid station (Hawaii themed!) at the Beeline and Shea turn around point from 12-5 and as a finish line catcher from 8-midnight. Monday, my wife and I will be registering for IMAZ 2013...our first! Following your training and preparations over the last year has been extremely motivating and moving. I would wish each of you good luck, but you have been so diligent in your training, I will instead say, trust your training, follow your plan, and you will each do great! Should I be fortunate enough to provide hydration, nutrition, or needed encouragement, or catch you as you cross the finish line to either become an Ironman for the first time or once again, I will be greatly honored. NOW, get a good night sleep so you are rested as you prepare for battle tomorrow! YOU ALL ROCK!!!!! |

For this Texas girl, the initial shock of the cold water was brutal. I just had to move right away and keep moving. Took me a little bit to get comfortable and settle in, but after a couple of minutes it wasn't too bad. I will be changing into dry clothes with arm warmers for the bike. Everyone have a great race and have fun. I hope to see several of you out on the course. |

I'm volunteering this year, so I can register for next year. I'm at the Quality Inn on N. Scottsdale Rd, about 1/2 a mile North of Tempe Town Lake & 2.5 miles away from Transition. My room is a "King Bed Suite." It has a small fridge & microwave. I booked this room way back in March for $49/night. They also have rooms with a full kitchen for a little bit more. But, I don't remember how much more those rooms were. Next year I'm renting a house. Already got it reserved. I used vrbo.com to find the rental house |
