I have a question that I think I know the answer to, but just want to make sure.

As you know, most phones and Ipads and Ipods can be charged at the computer AND the outlet if you have the plug to usb adaptor.  The question is, and my assumption, any adaptor can be used.  For example, I pluged my Ipad cord into my HTC EVO plug to USB adaptor?

I ask becuase 5-6 years ago, I bought an apple adaptor so I could charge my Ipod if I wasn't around a computer.  But is SEEMS that I was frying my Ipods when I used is.  I had a couple that lasted years charging on the computer, then fried after using the wall adaptor a month.

I think it's ok, because now I charge my Garmin, Ipad, HTC, Fitbit, and any other USB device from my Ipad wall adaptor, and everything is still working ok.  I would just hate to burn out my new Ipad using my HTC adaptor.  I figured they make it idiot proof and usb is usb and various charges wouldn't allow you to swap out cables if they adaptor spit out different voltages.

Sorry, long winded.

Along those lines: Is it possible to wire an outlet for USB charging? They've got them at airports and I wouldn't mind a little home project to make a charging station with 2-4 of these next to my 110vAc outlets.

That would be cool.  And I bet, new homes MAY be doing that soon or offering a plug you can swap out yourself from Home Depot or something.  Every plug also has a USB port?  Just build it into the outlet itself.

It would have to have some kind of internal step down transformer like the adapters do so it might be a bit pricy but I bet they have them. I would look into one myself.

Scandalous!!!! I need to take a pic for a new avatar. Dare I ask youse to give me some ideas?

Something that captures your beautiful smile and awesome cleavage.

Once I get the images from my doctor my new avatar will be x-rays of my plated and screwed clavicle.

But then I'd have to brush my teeth and shower. Way too much work.

You could photoshop out the food bits between your teeth.

that's what I'm thinking. I just looked at homedepot.com and they've got nothing. May need to go to electric wholesalers or a true trade shop to find the transformer. It should be small enough as the adapter isn't huge.

Why are you guys still in the other threads.  You KNOW you can't change the mind of extremists...  PERIOD.  I only wish they would just admit to that instead of trying to justify it.  If you don't like minorities (as an example) "just cuz", say that because any arugment to try to prove you are right just makes you sound crazier.

Ya size wise it should be very small (Like Tony) and only maybe like an extra few bucks for the outlet compaired to a normal one.

I also have a theory that people with very narrow views and view of the world, probably don't travel much or try to see what the rest of the world is like.  Just they TINY little part.  Maybe just their house, work, and church.

My aunt and uncle are like that.  Anti just about everything except hard core right wing and christian.  In fact, they "boycotted" my weddings because I married a minority.  But the limit of their exposure to the world is their small town and church.  I think their "Big Adventure" was a trip to Hawaii.  And then, I'm sure they were bad mouthing the "natives"...

If they've put them in the airports, I guarantee it's not difficult nor expensive.

Right, a normal plug is 2.99 or so.  I assume at first they charge maybe 12.99 for one with a USB in it as well?  Eventuall, they could be even cheaper.

There are a number of these available on the web.  I'm pretty sure they run on a standard 15 amp circuit.  Just pull the old plug and wire up a new one.  The ones I've seen usually have the regular two plugs, along with a couple of usb plugs.  I think they are typically around $20-$25.

Maybe most, but not my parents - specifically my dad. He's HARD CORE right wing - but is fairly well traveled, loves to see other parts of the country/world. While he is respectful of differences on the outside (like he'd never confront someone in public), he is anchored to his faith and inside his home he will argue till he's blue in the face about what he believes in. I love that about him.

Then you have my late grandmother, who was also well-traveled but a complete racist. I'm surprised her mouth didn't get her into trouble on her international vacations.

I may search and install a couple at my default "charging station"  It would be nice to plug all 4-5 devices in one place rather than take turns or spread out all over the family room.

I don't smell smoke, so I figure it's ok.
