Wow - lots of posting going on...didn't really catch up on everthing, but yaaaay about the hearing aids, sorry Nicole that you seem to have hurt yourself, new avatar for Dee...that's all I got...  sorry...at work, feeling poopy.

Have 3 swims and 4 strength training sessions to do in the next 8 days.  Swimming tonight, Thursday and Sat.  I will weave my strength days in there along with running (not a challenge goal, but I do have a tri in early June that I'm supposed to be training for).  I've had SUCH a stressful, sh!tty month...I need some encouragement bEASTies!

ebshot - 2010-03-23 10:47 AM Oh, one more piece of news here.  I am so excited, our insurance company APPROVED COLE'S HEARING AIDS!!!   So, now the audiology people submit the payment forms and then after they get paid, Cole will be able to get them.  I wish we could do it now but at $2000 a piece, I can see why they want payment first!

That's GREAT news Erica!  We also just got some similar great news.  We need to make our kids' bathroom "handicap accessible" for our oldest daughter, Rachel, who has CP.  We faxed the contractor's quote to just about every agency in the tri-state area.  Well our prayers were answered and the Center for Mental Health and Retardation is going to pay the bill.  YEEEEE-HAAAA!

MDHillSlug - 2010-03-23 10:12 AM Am I the only person capable of injuring themselves getting out of a pool?

Nope!  I did it last year.  I was just a few weeks out from my HIM and I had strained my quads playing softball.  I jumped out of the pool and ended up pulling my right one.  It wasn't pretty.  I still have issues with it every now and then.

Don't tell me that!

I tore my calf muscle doing a drunken cannonball off by brother's diving board.  It felt like getting hit by a Roger Clemens fastball right in the back of the leg.  I was on crutches for a week.

Well, I didn't make it over to the Y at lunchtime for my swim.  My 11-12 meeting went well past 12 and the pool closes from 1 -2:30.  For the rest of the month, I have to run 7.5 miles, bike 25.3 miles and swim 8,650 yards.  I'm feeling up for it, but I need to get some 2-a-days in to make it.  Let's do this thing, BEASTIES!!!

Here's what I have left this month:

2750 yds swim - could do it all in one if I wanted or maybe split it into 2 easy swims...  it's just so hard for me to GET to the pool.  and if I do get there, I usually have the kids with me too.

73 miles bike - looks a little scary to me right now.  But I am actually exactly on plan so I should be ok.  I must have been crazy when putting together my plan this month.  Have a 20 mile trainer ride planned for tonight if I can stay awake.

2.04 miles run - no problem!!  I will most likely go over on this goal.  It will be the first month (I think) that I did not bomb my run goal!!

2.1 pounds weight loss - hmmm...  I actually haven't weighed myself in a week.  Could be good.. Could be bad.

I am bombing in my weight loss goal.  I have gained weight this month.  But, I still have a few days to drop some pounds, right???  All is not lost yet!
Yeah, I'm nt exactly rocking my goal either... This weight is SO stubborn! Even being sick the last week hasn't done anything! I too am counting on the fact that there is still a week to go!!

It's been my observation that weight loss goals make poor challenge goals. I don't think I've ever had a teammate who was successful with this.

I agree.  You can only control your diet & exercise. . . Whatever your body does with it is not completely in your control.

A couple of years ago, when I first started exercising regularly, I was basically a gym rat going to the gym 6 days a week and really closely monitoring what I ate.  I wanted to lose about 20 lbs, but for the first two months I only lost about 5 lbs, even though I went from a size 10/12 to a 4/6 in that time.  Everyone kept telling me I lost a ton of weight, even though I didn't!

Eventually, the weight came off months later when my body realized it didn't need it anymore. . . but for a while I thought the weight was never gonna come off and I would just continue to shrink!  Now I don't really take too much stake in what the scale says as long as my pants fit (or get looser, depending on my goal) Laughing

I've usually seen that they will approve them for kids, but not for adults. I have a hearing aid in one ear that I managed to get paid through my spouse's insurance.

I was only a bit worried because his hearing loss isn't profound.  In fact, if he were an adult, he'd be borderline normal.  So, I was a bit concerned that they wouldn't fork over the $4000 but am so thankful that it went through quickly.

What kind of hearing aid do you have Nicole (if you don't mind me asking)?  Here is the link to the ones Cole will get. He wants blue.  I was pushing silver but to no avail.  Are they hard to take care of?

This was the first month I put a weight goal on the list...  and it was mostly to force myself to control the diet part of the equation.  My other goals should take care of the exercise part.  But without putting the scale in the spotlight, then I eat things I should NOT be eating - or at least not be eating everyday and totally negate the excercise.  But that's just me.

Really, I should probably have a nutrition plan.  But weight is so much easier to track...  at least easier than keeping track of all the things I put in my mouth through the day.   Laughing

Ok, since it looks like it's time to take an inventory for the rest of the month, here's what I still need to do:

-Run 26.61 miles.  Should not be a problem.  I have a 8-9 mile tempo run planned for tonight.  I even enlisted the help of a friend so I don't have to run by myself.  This weekend I have my 20-miler.  So that's already 28-29 miles planned, not including my 3rd run of the week, plus whatever I do the beginning of next week.

-Bike 4.75 hrs.  Yeah, that's where I've been slacking.  I'll plan for a couple of trainer rides which will hopefully get me close.  I'm itching for the weather to get nicer so I can bike outdoors again!

-Lift 1.5 hrs.  I should definitely be able to get that done.  I usually lift on Wednesdays, though my lifting buddy's out of town this week.  I may ride outdoors Wed evening instead of lifting, since it looks like it'll be nice.  But I should get 2 good lifting sessions in early next week when my lifting buddy gets back (45-60 min each).

-Yoga - 1 more class.  I'm planning on going Thursday, so then that'll be it!

Totally agree with weight being easier to track!  I probably weigh myself 2-3x a month just to make sure my *ahem* drinking habits *ahem* aren't catching up to me.  That, and I have a pair of tight pants that I try to squeeze into from time to time.  My goal is to have them fit properly eventually.  I'm hoping will be by the time summer comes!

I have an Oticon Delta in red. It was almost $3000 a little over 1 year ago.

The battery lasts about 5 days. I requires very little upkeep.
