We will be at the animal kingdom this weekend. If you're in the resort that backs up to the Safari stuff that's pretty cool. I'd love to chill on the porch with a cup of coffee and watch the giraffes roam. |

We'll be there the 3rd through 10th or 11th. Scouting out run routes out of the Polynesian now. I am sure you already know this, but you'll be broke by the end of the week, especially with two little Princess daughters. They are going to have a blast. Have fun Scott
Uh yeah. Food is already paid for, meal plan is really the only way to go. Dinner at Cinderella's Castle has been scheduled for MONTHS. Also hitting up Astros spring training in Kissimmee. Good news is my parents are coming up from Miami and they can be the suckers that buy memorabilia. Now if we can just stay the hell away from the Bippity Boppity Boutique makeovers. LOL at Bippity Boppity Boutique makeovers. We'd never make it there, even with our 1 daughter (she's all tomboy). Now if there were a Star Wars ride or something, where we could beat each other up with light sabers (or just beat each other up)....well, my clan would be all over that. Have a great vacation! |

Master 1832 Elgin, IL | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 - CLOSED It wasn't in my training plan, but I won't refuse going since so many of my friend are going and it was an awesome surprise since months ago I had to choose Goofy over Princess (which I don't regret). Also, most are doing this as their first half and plan on making lots of stops, so this will likely be my slowest HM ever, which shouldn't affect training much. |

Regular 1777 Auckland, North Island | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 - CLOSED Hi guys, Well I raced today, I'll have a report up soon, but it went as well as I could have hoped, and despite a rather big loss in running speed since last time I did this race I was still able to beat my previous time.
The big downer of the day was packing up the bike after I noticed that there's some damage to the fork. To my untrained eye it looks pretty bad. The bikes still under warranty, so hopefully it wont be a major problem to fix, but it put quite a downer on the day for me. (crack.jpg) Attachments ---------------- crack.jpg (71KB - 5 downloads) |

Have you tried tapping it with a coin. You can by the noise whether the fork is actually cracked or just the paint. |

Scott - you're not OCD, you have stuff to do and want to get your training in. Those of us that are busy must do such things. Heading out for a run in about 30 minutes, despite cold and wind. Have a fun party! Plus, you have to Earn your cheesecake |

Take the bike to a shop and have them take a look at it. Unfortunately, you can't tell whether it is extensive damage without an xray. However, that is in a high-stress point of the fork and, if it is cracked, could break without any notice. Better safe than crashed. |

Master 2151 Johns Creek, Georgia | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 - CLOSED Andrew - glad you had a good race. Bummer about the fork, hopefully it's just the paint. I had what looked like a crack on the top tube of my bike after I crashed a couple of years ago. The shop where I bought it checked it out and said it was just the clear coat/paint and not the actual frame. I trust them, but still worry about it sometimes. You certainly don't want your frame to split apart when your out biking, especially doing 40 down a big hill. Make sure you get it check out before riding. |

Regular 1777 Auckland, North Island | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 - CLOSED Well I've had another, closer look at the fork. If I try to squeeze the ends of the fork then you can see the crack opening. So I'm pretty sure it's proper damage. I've had a reasonable amount of experience with carbon fiber in my previous life sailing... I know how unpredictable and catastrophic it can be. And like Karen said, if it were to fail at full speed down a hill it would be nasty. So no road bike for me until its replaced. The good news is the bike has a 2 year warranty and is less than 8 months old, so at least it wont cost me anything. |

Master 2151 Johns Creek, Georgia | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 - CLOSED My triceps are really sore today??? I have no idea why, very strange. I noticed it swimming today, but more so when I was on the trainer later in the day. Could it be from the fall yesterday during the trail run? I landed pretty hard, hands were caked with mud, and my knees and elbows are pretty bruised. But why my triceps? I'm heading to Newington, VA tomorrow for work. Never been anywhere around there, should be an interesting trip. Back on Tuesday night, short trip. |
