Wesley12 - 2012-10-18 9:16 AM I'll be in Florida in less than 2 weeks.  Starting to get nervous and excited.  I've trained the whole year for this, so now to just enjoy the day.  Anything under 17 hours is a success.  I'm not going to go after any time goal except to finish.  After I get my first IM out of the way, I'll look at some time goals for IMTX.

You will love the environment when you get to Panama City!  A concentration of like minded athletes all excited to get the race underway!

There is a thread at the top of the mentor groups forum asking for input into the next generation of BT and specifically the mentor program.  Since you all have participated in at least this one, and some of you many others if you have some ideas how to make these better speak up!

56 miles bike ride timorrow.  11 mile run on Monday and then a few swims and one more 56 mile ride next Saturday.  Then it's all downhill until Nov.3 from there.

Hope everyone had a good weekend. I had a solid training weekend. ~95 miles of biking down the flat NJ coast yesterday, and the Atlantic City marathon today. Finished in about 4:20. I ran the first 23 miles with an in-law but I left him when i realized 1)he was going to make it, and 2) I was close enough to beat my time from 1999 if i picked up the pace. So i killed the last 3, and the weekend overall was a good confidence builder for IM. Atlantic City is an expensive race, if you count the donation that I left at the Bally's craps table...

HM went ok, should have been a bit faster with the flat course, but I haven't been as fast the past few weeks. 1:46:39 I think.

Nice Race Bill too!

Had kind of a bad weekend here. Weather was great so I wish I could have been outside. But I had a stomach bug and am having more sinus issues from the chlorine from swimming recently. Saturday I felt drained after PT and just started getting things done that I'd been putting off while training. The whole day went by and I still felt like crap so I didn't do anything but PT. Sunday I got up early and did an early bike loop with my cousin. I still felt drained and was having to force down water and perpetuum. I constantly felt like it was going to come up. So when we got back for loop 2 with the rest of the group I opted out and went home. Only did 35 then this morning and spent the rest of te day with my wife. I still feel a bit off. Hopefully I can still do some of the shorter workouts over the week and still get better. Next weekend is our last official lifetime fitness ride. So I'm leading that and then will be working on spin certification so I can teach spin over the winter.

Great job on the races this weekend guys, and good luck to you peeps doing FL soon!

Hi all.  I'm going to end my absence soon.  I've been on recovery month after Branson half IM and started a new job.  I will start posting again soon.  I'm sure you all can't wait.

By the way, are the groups staying open indefinitely now?  I do hope so.

Good to hear from you Ice!  Glad you are recovering well!

Keeping the groups open indefinitely or staggering start dates are a couple of ideas that are being bounced around.

Solid race Ken!

I had the same dead Garmin issue as you this weekend.  Luckily I had 1/2 an hour to charge it, and it surprisingly lasted through 24 miles.

The new ones do charge pretty quick!

How do your legs feel after the race Bill?

The legs are feeling surprisingly good Ken. How are feeling? Yesterday I was achy, today less so, but they are still pretty heavy. Went for a 1 hour recovery run today and that seemed to help. However, i don't want to count my chickens too soon. Sometimes I dont pay the full price for a big weekend until Wednesday or Thursday ...

Thats good Bill, lets hope that it doesn't get worse tomorrow.

I don't feel too bad considering.  I am in off season now, which means less structure for a few weeks, but I got up and felt like riding this morning so I did an hour on the trainer and felt fine.  Looking forward to fit class tonight, or more specifically, the half hour of yoga that follows.

I may make my maiden voyage to the pool tomorrow or Thursday too!

I spent yesterday in the ER with my son - he woke up complaining of stomach pain.  Took him to doc and she thought he may have appendicitis - so to ER we went.  ER doc also thought he had appendicitis.  Luckily the CT scan came back negative.  Turned out he had severe constipation - poor kid. After we got him cleaned out and headed home I was too exhausted to work out. He must have been backed up pretty good 'cause he is still sore today like he pulled a muscle in his stomach. Just glad he is ok!

made up for the lost workout today in the pool with a workout that just shattered me!

Sorry about your troubled Robin (an your son's). Our 5 y/o girl has a chronic issue in that department. Since we know now, there are no hospital trips, but its terrible to see them suffering...good luck!

I love the smell of chlorine in the morning, it smells like victory! To steal a line!  First swim post shoulder repair this morning!  It is going to be a long slow road back, but I think with some patience and maybe a little help focusing on form and body position will actually make me a better swimmer in the long run as I wont (can't) just power my way through the swimming with a strong pull any more.

Anyhow, it was great to be back in the pool this morning!

How is everyone else?

Congrats Ken!  although I don't agree about the chlorine.  Smells more like a sinus infection to me! LOL
