This run will be done at 4 am. It's freezing and dark then. We also have more than a foot of snow on the ground and more on the way. Outside isn't happening. It's 4 am or not at all. With that said, how do I make it work on the treadmill?
I try to find a run thought. It might be "don't bounce", or "stay smooth", whatever. Treadmills are necessary evils. You'll have the days you can go outside, but work is work. Keep your HR in the zone assigned regardless of the speed/distance. |

I use the 910 to try and stay within my target HR zones, per my training plans, so I see the benefit of that use, but is there anything to be gained by looking at the historic data? I guess I can go back and look at a previous exercise to see what my ave HR was for a month ago, versus todays; or see what my average pace was for a bike or run exercise for a similar distance and route versus todays - is that about the extent of the historical datas usefulness? Is there any other type of deeper analysis that can tell you if your fitness level is increasing/decreasing like a program that can complie a graph showing average swim/run/bike pace over time to see if you are getting faster? Would be nice if there was, and it would link to Garminconnect.com |

The adjustment was typically speed increase toward the end of my mile. Just go. |

Would be nice if there was, and it would link to Garminconnect.com What your looking for is a trending decrease in pace and increase in power for the same HR over time. E.g. in December you ran averaged an 8:30 min/mile at 145 bpm but in March you average 8:23. |

Extreme Veteran 3020![]() ![]() | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2013 (Year 3!) - CLOSEDRun test done for the day. I had to get up at 4 to get it done (along with a recovery ride with OLP). I will be dragging this afternoon. I struggled during the last interval so not sure if I paced the test properly? Or is that the way it works? Anyway, I'm glad it's done. I've put on around 5 lbs. since I made the dietary changes after the New Year. Not sure what that's about but it sucks. I think I'm going to have to toss the scale and not worry about it. I'm seeing performance gains right now, and my health is improving, so that's all that's important. |

Thank you I read that it's common for newly diagnosed Celiacs to gain weight. It has something to do with the distress symptoms easing on the gluten-free diet. The stomach starts to absorb everything from the food (fat, calories, nutrients, etc.) as it's healing. I'm not making excuses, but I find this fact to be interesting and wonder if it's one of the reasons I've gained. I've also added more fat to my diet, which could also be the reason. The doctor told me to raise my HDL, and I'm hoping all the healthy fats I've added will do that. Anyway, no worries. |

Me and the trainer are going to become VERY familiar with each other over the next few months.

Some of the weight gain is muscle gain. You are gaining in performance and as long as you feel better (other than looking at the scale) that is whats important. |

There is no point in my trying to be as disciplined as you guys have been, I am OK with little changes for now. I am on day 4 of more responsible eating ... I have cut down some portions, cut out most additional salt, and have only had 1 1/2 cup of pop on Tuesday. Very happy! Its not much, but for me it is alot! |

Baby steps. I like it. Why the salt though. My opinion is that extra salt is the last thing any endurance athlete should really be worried about. |
