Master 2238 Dallas | Subject: RE: Ernesto's group (5th season) - Closed Some more riding in the Texas hill Country today, got almost ninety miles in the bag, very windy and about 5,200ft of climbing. One of those days when you train both mind and body. Happy to hear that Samy crushed his goal time for the half and it is Chris Phelan's birthday today. Hoping that everybody had a good, productive weekend. |

That doesn't sound like much fun at all but I have been there done that many times myself. Glad you made it through in one piece. |

Regular 789 | Subject: RE: Ernesto's group (5th season) - Closed 1:40 run today followed by what should of been a 50 minute ride on the drainer but the weather was a sunny 45 degrees out and the roads have finally cleared of ice/snow so I grabbed my cold riding gear and did hot laps around my sub division. The main roads still have quite a bit of gravel on the sides so I tried to avoid those. Got my new 165mm crank on and an initial fit but I am thinking I need to go back to have the seat moved around a little bit. I keep sliding forward out on the road but don't on the trainer. For some reason I really tend to ride as far forward as possible which puts my legs at odd angles on the pedals. yet it is the most comfortable for me to ride that way.

Samy, congratulations on your HM. That is really awesome for your first one. Chris, Happy Birthday again. So now you need to look at my blog www.funafterfifty.com Mitch, I bought the Hanson book and also the plan. Both of them are well worth it! I really enjoyed the plan a lot. Now that I'm in the taper, I can see the whole benefit of the plan. I feel like a race horse who hasn't been allowed to run hard in the last couple of weeks. I hope that carries right over to the marathon! Jackie

Master 1780 Boynton Beach, FL | Subject: RE: Ernesto's group (5th season) - Closed Thanks Gabe and Jackie. Gabe, it's easy to PR when it's your first HM Full report to follow, but extremely happy with my race. Target 2:15 (10:15/mile pace)- Result: 2:11:50 (10:00/mile pace - ran 13.2 according to Garmin). I decided to follow the group advice and began with the 2:15 pace group (pace 10:18). Well, that did not last very long. After 1/2 mile I saw my Garmin and the pace was 9:05! At that time, I heard the collective scream of everybody in this mentor group yelling DON'T START TOO FAST! So I decided to ditch the group and run my own race (not surprisingly, I caught them and passed them at mile 11, the pacer seemed out of gas). Negative splits - 1:01:23 for first 6 miles. 59:15 for next six. Ran last 4 miles at about 9:35/mile. And had a blast doing it! Thanks everybody for your help, suggestions, and encouragement. I don't know if this is the adrenaline talking, but next year its sub 2:00 or bust! |

Mitch, I bought the Hanson book and also the plan. Both of them are well worth it! I really enjoyed the plan a lot. Now that I'm in the taper, I can see the whole benefit of the plan. I feel like a race horse who hasn't been allowed to run hard in the last couple of weeks. I hope that carries right over to the marathon!
Thanks Jackie - does the book have the plans as well or do you have to download them from site? Also, which plan did you download? Book has plans, but they are slightly different than what I downloaded. Plan comes with lots of explanation, it's 29 pages long. I downloaded the 40-60 MPW, 20 week plan for 14.95, Item# 622534. Well worth it, IMO. Jackie
