I'm a fan of goldfish crackers and pretzels on the bike. They are fast carbs and they help cut the sweet. I also like peanut butter and a banana mash on whole wheat. I mash the bananas up and spread them on on side of the bread with peanut butter on the other.

My mom introduced me to individual packets of almond butter this weekend. I was thinking of taking a few along on my next long ride along with some pretzels to cut the sweet of the gatorade along the way.

I had to google goldfish crackers!!! They look..ummm...cute?

I hear you on the sweet though... I do find that gatorade can get too much pretty quick! I know if Im craving it on a ride there is NO WAY Ive had enough calories... because normally all I want is water...

You've never had a Goldfish cracker?  THat's like not knowing what Little Debbies are!!

Well I know what they are in theory... but no never seen one in person!

You need a care package from over here. Goldfish crackers, flavored rice cakes, do you have Nutella? That's pretty yummy! We don't have Cheezles here - my Australian co-worker brought them in one time

I ordered a new one. Could have had it overnight shipped but figured that would eat up most of the price break I got on it's being half price!  I'll use the one I have for tomorrow.

Hope everyone has a great week.

BigDH - 2009-04-20 10:46 AM Good morning everyone! The fog is lifting over here. Summer is getting here, a high of 21C today. Think I will ride my bike to work tommorow. Yeah! Hope everyone has a great week.

It's getting pretty nice out here, too FINALLY. I might have to take some longer morning rides before my sprint to work to take advantage of the weather.

Darren, awesome that you got 4 workouts in this past week!  That's great you're finding some time to balance that with your new arrival!

Maureen, way to go on your first Tri!  Good to hear you had a great time despite the tough start.  Hope you'll give OW another chance, but you could always do the Du if that's what feels right to you.

Judi, great job pulling through with the too-big wetsuit - looks like you did pretty well even with the swim sapping a lot more energy than hoped.  With the new suit I bet you'd have a lot to bring to the bike and run.  Hope you're recovering well!

I got my first OW swim of the season on Sunday - my very first swim in a wetsuit this weekend!  It was dumb cold, but still a lot of fun and I can't wait to get back in.  Still dunno how I feel about the wetsuit.. I mean, it's def necessary in these temps but I don't quite feel comfortable swimming in it yet, like it's a little constricting and feel like I have to work harder to stretch my arms in it.  Hoping it'll break in a bit.  Session with a trainer tonight (free w/the new gym membership) which will be neat since she's a triathlete.  Later this week I HAVE TO get some quality time clipping in and out since that's the last thing big thing to learn before my event in May.

What's on tap for everyone this week?

Mina!

My week is going to be played by ear...I'll swim tomorrow then decide what I feel up to.  Yoga was good recovery today.  My shoulders are tight from whatever I did to attempt and swim and being aero but otherwise I feel pretty decent post yoga.

Thanks - my little monkeys jumping off the bed

Hope everyone had fun this weekend! It was great weather here in Jersey - Sat. my daughter had her first mini tri at the Y and Sunday I did a 50 mile bike ride as a benefit for a school around here which teaches mentally and physically disabled children. Great cause and a lot of fun. There were 2 50 mile courses - the Hills of Attrition and the "flat" one. Of course, I did the "flat" one which had almost 2700 feet of elevation gain. So much for flat!!

All this talk of warmer weather is making me jealous!!!

I know I dont get real winters here (no snow and temps stay above freezing - at least they do in Sydney) but Im already feeling it and its only autumn! Although it may just be all the rain weve been having!

To balance it out I went on a little online bargain basement shopping spree to get the beginnings of some winter riding gear... .fingers crossed it arrives soon and makes a difference!!!

my little monkeys jumping off the bed- oh I remember reading that book to my girls.  I miss all those great fun little kid books!  I think I enjoyed them as much as they did (maybe more).

Weather here for the next few days is probably best described as "blowing fog" as its hard to tell were the fog ends and the rain begins.  Heading to the Y this am for some elliptical time.  My knee is improving with the PT and paying more attention to form.  Only a soon to be 51 yo wannabe triathlete could be sidelined with an inflammed fat pat--- "fat pad"??!! WTF! Couldn't I have something more glamorous??? or at least athletic sounding??? Technically it is Hoffa's fat pad but that sounds too mafia like for me.  Being from RI we still have mafia news regularly.

Congrats to this weekend's triathletes Judi and PacMo and open water swimmer Mina.  Strong work out there!

Sounds like everyone is doing well....great races so far, including some great over-comes!

I'm 11 days out, and doing the roller coaster of emotions.  It's HOT here now, it's 98 right now....and if it's that hot at Wildflower, I don't know what I'll do.  I blew up in my last long run today, and it was 85.  Oh well, it will be what it will be, and I'll do my best.

I think I'm having IT band issues.....I thought it was a tight piriformis, but I've had several people say they think it's the same thing all the way up and down, from tush to knee.  So, I'm stretching and tennis balling and sticking.  fun.

good thoughts to all.....

Hey all - this weekend here in NJ is supposed to hit almost 90 on Sun! Can we complain about the heat so close to complaining about the cold!? Ha - I actaully can't wait for the nice warm weather.  I've officially started my HIM plan which is different than the BT plan from last year. It's a bit meatier and Im definitely feeling it already. Just around 11 or so hours a week but I just have to adjust I guess.   Next week is a recovery week and I can not wait to just take it "easy" for a bit.

I hope this cooling trend lasts through Wildflower ... it would be a great race if it were high 60's and low 70's.

90 in NJ this time of year ... nice a toasty ... get out for a workout and a tan

WHY DID I LOSE ALL OF MY STARS?!?  Where did they go?  How did I earn them in the first place, and how do I get them back?

And, finally, do any of you race with salt tabs?
