Up and on the drainer at 5am today - think I was running a bit of a fever with my cold but sweated it out nicely.  Feel better for the 45mins of hell on wheels!  I figured if I do these workouts in the morning or lunchtime for running it just seems easier for me, if I put off until the evening I can ALWAYs find an excuse not to go!  Also means tonight I'm free to do spellings homework with Artemis!  Thought we'd make up some poems with the words today!

She won two awards at school yesterday for excellence in Art and Italian - so proud.   Here she is on the left with her BFF Willow.

Congrats! Very nice. She's a cutie.

Saturday - 10km run was sooooo beautiful out there, ran into a girl from squad and we organised to meet Sunday.

Saturday afternoon - 2.8k at squad - drill drill drill, one arm this, otter scull that, fist the other - outta control.

Too much wine consumption Saturday night, Sunday morning breakfast with the girls - then home then out for coffee with swim squad girls then grocery shopping - laundry inbetween all of that and dye one's grey hair!

Supposed to do a couple of hours on the drainer - MEH NOT HAPPENING, ran out of motivaton.  Means an extra session this week - Tuesday morning, Weds night, Thurs Morn, Friday night - all drainers of at least 45mins.  JFDI.

?

How can you be English and not know that one - Just effing Do It - it's the Nike slogan really Romford style.

How's the weather over there?  My family have all been out watching the torch relay in Romford - surprised it didn't get stolen.

I am so excited about the Olympics - gonna be a blast.  Got three friends currently in Dover waiting for a good slot to swim the Channel too - so a big few weeks of UK watching!

Big congratulatins to Bradley Wiggins!  Awesome stuff, nice being a UK Aussie - could cheer for Cadel but also for Bradley!

Surely JEDI, though i still wouldn't have got it.

Weather is awesome but only since the weekend. As you probably know, we've had rain of biblical proportions for three solid months, so it's nice to see some blue sky.

Bradley has been amazing (so has Froome and Cav, plus the whole sky team). i am now suffering post TdF blues.

Luckily the Olympics are just around the corner, then i have my Tri after which we fly to Turkey for three weeks of guaranteed sun sea and EFES (the local brew).

What part of Turkey? I've only ever been to Ephesus, but really liked it.

Marmaris this time. Ephesus is amazing though and well worth the 'One of the Seven wonders of the world' tag.

We go somewhere in Turkey every year, trying to see different things.

Yeah, I am guessing I am not using my whole body/core enough. I hate to admit but my lats aren't sore at all. Just the deltoids.

Also, I don't really kick very much. I feel like I almost only use kicking as means for stability not propulsion. I'm sure that's a problem as well.

I wouldn't worry any about your kick at this point. If they're not dragging and holding you back, they're fine.

As long as I am on the whine-train today I'm going for it. Swimming is so complicated!

It is. It has more in common with ballet than biking or running. Even more difficult because of the foreign medium. (No, I'm not talking about me ... I'm talking about water).

I'm a ballet drop out. Age 5, two practices in, I hung up the tights for good. Broke my dear mothers heart.

I made it through one 8-week session. I didn't like it because it made me sweat.  If you had seen me at boot camp tonight...oh, how things have changed.  Really HTBU - hardened the Brie up. (but isn't Brie supposed to be soft??? It was my argument for many years, probably age 5 to 21)

he he.

But i bet after you've showered, you become everyones favourite, a bit of fresh Brie!

(always best spread when it's fresh)

Awesome afternoon for the manatees, although i'm just a voyeur apparently.

I have no idea what I do on my swim but my elbow has started to bother, slight pain, me on some of my harder/longer workouts, pool workouts get your mind out of the gutter, thoughts?  I think I need to make Sheila's book my next no idea about form I just go...

Where exactly on or in the elbow? Both arms or one (which, and if so, what handed-ness are you?) What kind of pain (stabbing, burning, just feels like a sore muscle, etc.)? I'm going to go look at your logs to see if you've recently ramped up swim intensity or distance.

Does the pain last past the swim? Does it occur at any other time? Have you been doing any kind of extra work with your arm/s (yard, construction, car, lifting, moving, throwing a ball), including repetitive motions like lots of extra mouse clicking?

So while I'm awaiting a top-secret care package that I am assured is on its way ...

A wonderful piglette in the U.S. has offered to ship me a care package, and I can also order stuff in the States to be delivered to her home and she'll include it. Obviously I don't want to order a bunch of heavy or bulky stuff ... and it's all going to be tri stuff, of course! (because that's a NEED, not a want, and you really can't get anything here)

However, for the last week I've been completely afflicted with blank-itis regarding what I need. Here's a short list of possibilities:

- decent sports bras
- de Soto distance tri shorts
- just one tube of sports sunblock that really works, for those truly important days

I can't think of anything else, though. But I know there's got to be a whole bunch of stuff. Durrrr ...help!

or maybe I don't really NEED anything ... no, perish the thought ...

Your selections are well thought out.

1) A DECENT High Quality woman's undergarment is not to be taken lightly. I have only second hand info on this, but it seems that there are very strong opinions about such things.
2) Sunblock - I am a fan of Neutragena (sp) for the face. The sport 70 SPF they have is AWESOME!
3) I always go with the shoes - currently running in Saucony, but I race in a pair of PI Iso Transitions. Although next will be Zoots.
4) Are you primarily interested in clothing/gear? Or are there bike parts needed as well? New seat, etc?

Maybe take a look back at your packing list from Australia. That might show what you've lost, worn out, or whatever...

Hmm, are you thinking stuff to get you through training and the IM?

I'm the last person that should be answering about stuff, since I hate stuff but here goes...

swim cap(s)

tubes (can you get those??)

Shoes? (I imagine you go through a pair at least in training, no?

Goggles???

Do you use/need regular bike shorts for the IM or just tri-shorts

New tri bike shoes? (I thought you had mentioned that a while back)

Fueling-type stuff? (Gu, chomps, eletrolyte tablets)

same question RE IM training and race - will it be another cold day, is there anything you need to prevent hypothermia? Neoprene swim cap, booties, more insulated wind jacket?

I do like the look of the de Soto distance tri shorts...

Also, where is your friend shipping from? I could hook you up with anything PowerBar (Gels, Energy blasts, energy bars, recovery bars blah blah blah) BUT that stuff does start getting expensive to ship and at some point, not worth it. Maybe just gels and the chews would make sense...

Oh Jeebs. Underwear. I always need underwear. I really don't have any but for some reason when traveling, I need it.

Excellent idea to look at my packing list from Oz! That was like, three spreadsheets or something.

A lot of stuff I "need" is stuff that is unfortunately just too bulky or heavy to ship. So I'll continue in the "make do" mode with those.

Lube?????????????????

TRI BIKE SHOES!

Unfortunately I need to get ridiculously expensive ones because my feet are practically square ... and they need to be light, too (though thankfully most of them are). Thanks for the reminder.

Lube, I make do with Vaseline, and, um, adult lube. I do have a few tubes of my preferred lasts-through-ocean-swim-IM lube for special occasions. Like RACES.

POWER STUFF ... drool ... hey, did you know I once dated a guy for the sole reason he was a CLIF rep and kept me in supplies?

Unfortunately, once it gets into nutrition stuff, it's just too heavy. Sigh.

Actually, riding nekkid is more comfortable than with wrong-size or fit shorts. (Slightly less comfortable than with well-fitting shorts if more than 15-20min). But the bike fit, including the saddle itself and every part of the saddle location and position, is so perfectly dialed in that riding nekkid is pretty darn comfy.

No lube. I'd fly off the bike seat if I farted.

1. I am glad you have your priorities straight.

2. No. Big surprise. I mean, shocked...really.

There is no part of me that wants to test this theory.

None!

I won't get this mental image out of my mind today....especially while I'm out on my bike! Surprised
