I am with you with the crap in my lungs.  I biked in the rain for a couple of hours before watching the Tour of California go through town.  Lance sends his best.

So I made the best out of day and knocked off another strength workout--yoga.  What worries me is that I will be traveling all next week. I had counted on getting pretty much done with the challenge this week.

You guys are all doing great.

Numbers looking good for the month still.  This may well be my first 500 mile bike month ever 8).

That's some great mileage!  You'll be more than ready for the upcoming events.

Good week in so far, with a medium length run and ride for the weekend.    Already hit my bike goal, commuting to work helped get that up.  Have a single short swim to finish the yardage for that, and a long run should cover the final leg.   Should be at 100% for everything by Tuesday.

Bah swim totally sucked this evening.  Completely ran out of gas after 2500 yards and just sucked it up for the last 500.  I may have upped too many things too fast after that marathon.  Looks like I am going to have to take a second recovery week or at least an extra day off next week to try to get the body a bit more recovered.  Maybe drop a bike workout or two since I will probably hit my 400 mile goal tomorrow.

I just put last week's minutes into the spreadsheet.  I'm a bit behind (understatement) on my strength training.  I guess I will be doing lots of crunches this week.

Hope you're all having a great weekend.

Great job out there today!  Thankfully it wasn't raining the whole time.  In fact, I think the weather was pretty darn close to perfect!  I had a blast!

Sick again!!!!UGH!!!!  My family keeps passing this darned cold around.  Fortunately, it's not a terrible this second time around.  Took yesterday off though to rest some.

I am hitting the pool for the first time tonight.  My goal for this challenge, swimming wise, is to get to the pool sometime in Feb to start my training.  I have to say that I am a little nervous.  I know that I have to do this, but it's been years since I've done any real swimming.  Gotta get form back and all.  We'll see how it goes.

What is with the germs this year???

I just started back with swimming at the beginning of February and I know how you feel.  It took a couple of times before I felt comfortable in the pool (and not intimidated by the people who looked like they knew what they were doing).  I just told myself, "I'm here, so suck it up, get in the pool, and swim." Smile

You'll be fine.

Grats on the half maries.  On my only/first half mary last year I totally agree with the effort involved. First 10k woot feeling great, then slowly start bleeding seconds per mile until bam mile 10 where has the adrenalin gone... and then ya suck it up for the last 3 miles.  For the full mary it is worse because your 10 mile fatigue hits somewhere around mile 18-20 and you you then have 6-8 miles to suck it up for.

Way to hang in there and put some umph in that last mile.

I hear ya on the germ thing.  I took the whole weekend off from workouts to try to get a fresh start for today.  Hard to kill a long bike day, but it was needed.  And well my son had a birthday party on Saturday and it rained all day Sunday, so ... the decision wasn't that hard to make.  I should still be good for my goals.  Biking is easier to make up than swim or run.

Got a 6 mile run at lunch.  70 degree weather in Vegas today.  Should have worn less clothes, I was finally hot on a run for the first time in since the fall.    That leaves me with less than 5 miles running and 1.8k swim to go to finish the February goals.   Will get those knocked out on Wednesday, tommorow's a bike day.

Everyone else getting close or at their goals?  It's crunch time!

I saw that you did a gel every 45 min.  When I do distance I try to do a gu/gel 100 calories every 30 minutes and only drink water.  So with your gels and the 3 gatoraids I am not sure whether you ran low on calories by the end or not.  Nice race though.  A pacer would be soo nice for first time distances.

I did  take  nutrition every 30 mins when  I trained. I do all my running outdoors no matter what the weather. I hate the dreadmill. I was so warm that I didnt think I could stomach it, it was a choice between calorie deficiet and possibly puking. It was a difficult decision as what to wear for the day. It was sunny when we started but called for rain/snow mix as the race progressed. I was overrdressed and  got very warm...but as predicited the weather turned and it got chilly and started to drizzle and the wind picked up. I welcomed the drizzle by then. Live and learn. I am going to have sevral plans for my HIM for all different weather possibilities!

WEEK 3 CHALLENGE UPDATE

Here are the current standings. Please note that the percentage for Team Edison includes some workouts entered for week 4, and I didn't have the time or energy to go back and calculate the actual percentage at the end of week 3. So... the Team Edison value is a bit of an over-estimate for end of week 3 - but - SHEESH!! What a bunch of OVERACHIEVERS!

1ST PLACE: Team Edison - 91.22%
2ND PLACE: Team Washington - 69.51%
3RD PLACE: Team Lincoln - 56.5%
4TH PLACE: Team Galileo

One more week to go, everyone! Keep up the good work!!!

Got in a very short bike ride this morning only have about 16 more miles to go on that and 150m in the pool and I will be done....

Also, going wedding dress shopping, shoe shopping, pick his ring up and cake tasting today, we are having a very untraditional wedding on a plantation, the men are wearing khakis a button down white shirt and a navy blue sport coat...I've always wanted a canary yellow wedding dress and it looks like this might be the one http://www.davidsbridal.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplayView?storeId=10052&catalogId=10051&categoryId=-49998973&colorName=Canary&subCategory=-49998976%7c-49998975%7c-49998973&top_category=&catentryId=1000108

Unless of course I look like a beach whale in it....more then likely I'm going to have to get it altered....being 6'0 155lbs its very hard to find things that fit right off the shelf
