My friend just brought me the neatest gift! She brought me a huge gift bag with 'race food'. It has Vitamin waters, triscuits, apples, etc. That sure was thoughtful! She thinks I'm a little overboard on the training, having never been athletic, but she supports me. She said she would travel to the race with me this weekend....so as not to pass up a shopping opportunity.

Took a little swim this morning. Just to stay limber.

Good morning Pineapples. I'm going to the Doc again today and I'm hoping that he will release me to start working out again. At least with the bike and pool, please please please. I'm going crazy. Once he releases me I'll be on board to help bring our percentage up.

Going to the doc again today. Hoping to get release to do some kind of training. Of course, Sunday night I could not sleep the foot hurt so bad. I mean really bad. But then once I got walking on Monday morning I was okay. Still hurt but not enough to even make me limp. Funny how at night it hurts so much worse.

I am dabbling this week, I know my percentages will fall below "pace" this week, but it is recovery/taper.

I also have plans for growing weeks after this week, assuming I can fit my plans around work and home.

Lets go, Pina Coladas for the winners!!

Hey everybody! I'm back in Kalispell with a good internet connection finally. YAY! Looks like everyone is getting some good training in, or needed recovery time. Great job!

My 10k was alot of fun, and I really liked that distance. There were only 9 people who ran it so I won my AG and got a medal and gift card (not too bad for my first 10k), now I just have to look for races out in the middle of nowhere, with very few people and I might be able to win some more   I have a little catching up to do on the biking, and alot to do on the strength sessions, but by next week I should be all caught up.

Go Pineapples!

hey pineapples!
i ran yesterday, but i'm not sure if i logged it. i was DEAD after. this speed thing is kicking my butt!! i read in runners world that to see major progress in that area, to focus on JUST speed runs for like 6 weeks, then go on to threshold, and THEN to LSD. i was doing WAY too much LSD (emphasis on the S ) so sprinting hills, and general speed work is really killing me. in a good way though.
my first race is coming up-actually, my first race WAS going to be this coming sunday, but i begged out, since i KNOW i'm not nearly bike ready yet. i might be able to flounder my way through, but i'd rather save it for the next one, and really do well. SO first race of the season is may 10th.
have a ton of errands and dr appts etc etc etc this morning, but might catch a run this afternoon, depending on weather. i was going to take the day off, but we'll see. if we get home early enough, i think i'll try to still run.

i'll just throw this in. my husband freaking rocks, and my kids are dang cute!!
(having one of those surreal "perfect" mornings LOL)

Great job on the race. Even if I ran against 9 people, I more than likely would not win my age group. LOL

Great training every one.

Lyssa-I'm going to have to find that Runners World article cos' I've been doing some speed work as well and my legs are trashed. If I can see the point I wont mind so much.

I logged another run today. Only 38 minutes as my training session was a little short. This is what the trainer set but I ran a few extra laps to increase my total. It was hills today-my turn for a butt kicking.

Hi all,

I am back from Germany and after sleeping all day I went for a bike ride with hubby before going to work (nightshift again).

I will be home the next 10 days and training will be a lot. I need to finish all my bike and swim during that time as I am not sure I get to bike or swim while flying in Europe the last 10 days of the month.

I hope you will all have a great Friday and a great weekend

tammie, it's the april issue, and it's the article on nutrition plans, and training plans for dropping 5,10, or 15 pounds. the part about the speed thing, was the guy who wanted to lose 20 pounds. it's a really good article.
i don't know if the new RW is out on the shelf yet, it might be, i gave myself a subscription for my b-day, it's so inspirational, a lot of days when i don't want to run at all, i'll pick it up for a few minutes, and then i'll totally go.

anyway, if you can't find the article, i can copy it and send it to you if you want.
just pm me.

nhaefs - 2008-04-08 2:01 AM I can see that everyone is doing a great job. I know that we are going to make a comeback this week. I have to admit that I am probably part of the reason for our low ranking this week as I have been on vacation and only getting in a short run here and there but will get a long bike in this weekend and hopefully a couple of other good workouts when I get back on Thursday. kind of off topic question, but can someone help me with changing my avatar. I have looked everywhere. I know it is suppose to be in your control panels section but I cannot find it anywhere. Which tab is it under? Does someone know where there are directions?

Just below the "BeginnerTriathlete.com" logo and just above where it says "Welcome nhaefs. (log off) you will see this "Home-Control Panel-Help". Click on this "Contol Panel" and it will get you there.

I can't believe I know something computer like. Hope this helps.

Thanks a million for your help. It only took me a fraction of a second to find it with your excellent description!

My theory about my race this weekend: Since I set my April goals in time instead of distance, the slower I race, the more credit I will get!!! Good idea, huh? huh?

Saturday is supposed to warm up from 33 to 67 degrees, so by the time my heat goes, it should be decently warm! YAY!

So heres a question on this race time doubling.  Is it only for the actual race event or does the warmup and cool down get doubled also?

BTW - to everyone racing this weekend, have a great race!

I have not had any luck getting to the spreadsheet. Does that mean my times aren't getting added?

Well team I got a long swin today, I feel like a jelly fish, and extremely sluggish. I really do not like swimming. Had the doc not said swim, I would not be. But thanks to this challenge, I am plunging into the pool. Had a real lesson today, I guess what I have been calling swimming was really playing around...cuz I got the real thing today...grr.

Interesting idea. But, um... if you see the guy with the broom behind you, you might want to pick up the pace a bit.

GOOD LUCK this weekend!

Just added a 40 minute walk to my run total. My legs are tired and sore and it's supposed to be a rest day for me but I thought a walk would help. It's a beautiful and I really enjoyed the walk with my 7 yo son who kept me entertained the entire time with his chatter. He's very cute.

Train hard Pineapples.
