Hey Guys and Gals,

Good luck at IM Cozumel.  I just finished Beach 2 Battleship in Wilmington NC.  Second Full Race.

I am looking at IM Cozumel in 2010 and would love to hear some reviews, cost and logistics.

feeling like I have a lot of things to prepare and plan in the next couple weeks!   Usual taper madness (too much?, not enough?... too much?, not enough?...etc.). Flying in on TG day.

Still here! Wondering if I did enough training, made all my long runs and long bikes. Just took advantage of XTERRA's 50% of deal and bought a speedsuit. Starting the taper and still recovering from the flu.

We are fly in on the 23rd and staying at the El Cozumelo, and leaving on the 6th. So making this a little vacation.

Overall feeling pretty good, just a little nervous on putting all three distances together, this is my first IM so don't really know what to expect. If anyone needs a training partner while down there let me know and can make that happen. I told my girlfriend she is on here own for the first week, no drinking and late nights for me. I also borrowed a set of HED wheels from a buddy, they are Zipps equivalent of a 404, 808 set up, pretty exited about that.

Anyway hope everyone else is feeling good!

Did anyone see this little nugget?

From the bike check in section.
"All equipment will be checked as you leave TA after your race the next day."

I guess we will leave our bikes until the day after the race? I find this odd.

Anyone else see this?

Please disregard my previous post, I've got IM COZ on the brain. I read WAY too much into that statement.

Getting closer!

My new Xterra speed suit is on the UPS truck for delivery today! Will do my swim tomorrow in it to check it out.
I have a borrowed set of Zipp 606s to race with. Figure that 404 front and 808 rear will be a good windy course choice.

We fly in on the 24th and are staying till 12/4th. Have rented a really nice looking brand new Townhouse in town. Pool is on the roof, that is where I'll be found post race chilling!

I'm starting to wonder if I did enough ...

Puuuhlease ... you looked fresh enough after Chesapeakeman to do the run then and you have like 8 more weeks under your belt now!

Im my opinion there is a mental aspect to IM as well. Go into race day knowing you did the training and you put in the hours, believe in yourself and your training ... all thats left is to knock it out!

My wife and I are staying there too. Maybe we can all try and get together for a swim or something. Our Airline reservations got screwed up so we wont be flying in until the 27th though   Good luck and happy tapering

I'm just catching up with everything on here.  I didn't realize that the water temp is close to being wetsuit legal.  I'm definitely bringing mine just in case!  Hopefully I can do a test swim before the race to see if I'd get too hot in it.  It's sleeveless but if the water temp is 78 on race day I'm not sure with it being such a long swim if I would get too hot in it.

I just started my taper- I'm trying not to freak out but I don't feel so great this week. I think my last big build week took a lot more out of me than I realize. I hope that next week my body feels more rested.

How is everyone planning to bring extra CO2's?  Are you putting them in your checked luggage even though we probably shouldn't take them with us?   I would say that I'll just buy them at the expo but I'm actually worried that the expo could run out.

I'm pretty excited for this race!  I CANNOT wait to get down to Cozumel!

That sounds great. We should get a group together to swim, bike, or run. Just to calm down the nerves. The island is pretty small so finding everyone shouldn't be to hard. I am planning on calling my cell carrier to allow me to make calls down there. We can also exchange email to facilitate meeting up.

Good luck to everyone

Good question on the CO2. Maybe a good question for the race director?

There is some good information from one of the race directors (Andre - not sure of his official role) on this forum that addresses some of the concerns about CO2 and wetsuits:

http://iamtri.com/group/iromancozumel2009?groupUrl=iromancozumel2009&id=1984656%
3AGroup%3A64698&page=1#comments

It is a little confusing as it is chronological from most recent post to oldest.  According to Andre, their will be CO2 available at the expo.  Also, he really does not expect it to be wetsuit legal despite the recent water temps, even if a massive cold front were to come through.

Most of the races I have done seem to have plenty CO2s at the Expo. I plan on just picking one up there.

I fly in Turkey day and will be at the El Coz untill the 5th.

One more long ride tommorow and then it is tapper time for me!

What kind of HED's? I have HED3C's and only riding the rear with the HED, front will be spoke
Easton race wheels. A friend of mine is riding HED JET 60's. Rode in some major wind today on the SC coast. Don't think the race wheels helped. Have a great race!
