I thought I would add a link to a BT video for the Closed Fist Drill.  One of the best drill I have found for swimming technique.

BT closed fist drill

If you don't have access to the BT video (I'm not sure if you have to be a member or not), here is a You tube video.  closed fist drill

ALSO, if you look a the youtube video.  On the right hand side of the screen, are tons of other swimming video.

Swimming is SO technique oriented, it never hurts to keep studying or working on form.

Did some one armed drills this morning at the pool. Take about feeling awkward. It was tough getting out of bed this morning. We had a high of 10* today. I got of work early today. Went for a run. It was 8* then. It wasn't that bad, no wind. Better than a treadmill any day.

They feel funny for sure.  Like there is no power.  Just focus on getting the feeling you are pulling with the entire forarm.  Once that happens, you know your elbow is high enough and form is better.

The pull should be with the whole arm.  I have found, that even if it feels slower, I can get pretty close to my regular 100 splits if I do the closed fist correctly and use the entire arm (maybe 10-15 seconds slower - not the twice as long as I thought).  Surprised the heck out of me.

I do this drill all the time and see the same. About 10 sec above my normal 100 split.

Happy late morning to you!

I'm pleasantly surprised that I'm not dreading my trainer rides as much as I thought I would.  Good thing, because it's supposed to be sub-freezing for the next couple days here...

Like anything else - just have to get used to it.  90 minutes is pretty standard and easy.  I still dred the thought of 2 hours or more, though...  Good thing it's warm here.

Yeah... warm there... we are at -23°F right now???

The most amazing thing, is that on my way into work (well to the gym first) at 4:15a this morning, I drove past someone out RUNNING in this stuff!!!???  I can't believe that there is any benefit running outside at these cold temps?

Glad to hear Vegas is still warm

I must be the odd man out because I prefer trainer rides to being outside.  I like being able to read my book uninterrupted or watch a movie.  When I'm outside I have to deal w/idiots trying to run my off the road.

i hada trainer ride planned for this morning, when i woke up the heat had not been working and it was 58* in my house. It seems an oil line froze outside and after i figured and thawed that out, the heat came back on, but only in two of three zones, i hope i did not freeze a pipe!!  :0(

Just had my best swim ever. Intervals were 6X100m @ 2:10 (1:39, 1:40, 1:43, 1:48, 1:46, 1:45) I know it's not fast for a lot of people on here but it's the first time I have managed 6 in a row sub 1:50.

Have a good weekend guys.

No heat here to send you. Until 2 years ago I lived in CT, just south of Hartford.
Went for a nice 50 minutes run. It was cold, but really nice out.

Brick this morning 1:40 on the drainer, short 15mins on the dreadmill.

Can't wait for spring!

Just stood for most of the afternoon watching my eldest daughter play football (soccer) in the wind and rain. Not nice. They lost 10-0!!

I wanted to mention how powerful BT can be.

I know some of you already use the nutrition section, which is great.  Some already use the plan section as well.  And of course, the workout logs.

I know my biggest problem is my diet right now.  Not really WHAT I eat, but when and how much.  I decided to use the nutrition section to log in my meals and see where I'm messing up.  Like anything, the more work you put into it, the better results it will give you.  I didn't realize, however, how easy it was with the data base of food to select....

Take a look, if you haven't yet.

Oh well I'll go tomorrow. Did get a run in. Felt really, tight. I don't think I drank
Enough water today.

Good for you to get a run in.  Mostly, I get to the gym and the pool is closed for maintanance.  Good thing I have a couple, so I end up driving to another, but it's still a hastle.

Made it to the pool this morning. Sticking with the drills. Feels like I'm getting smoother. It's only been a few days, but I do feel different. One of the drills today was counting strokes for 25 yds. I did 24 (total left and right arm). Wondering what others counts are?
