Extreme Veteran 730![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Milford, MI | Subject: RE: Let's make a triathlon.I'll head out to the park later this week to make sure the road markings are still there. As for setup on Sunday morning, I don't think there's much we need to do. Make sure that you bring some sort of blanket to lay down in the transition area. The area is grassy but its rough. I'll bring a bunch of tools for bike repairs too. I'm planning on bringing a cooler of Gatorade. I wasn't planning on setting up any roadside drink stations - just plan on bringing whatever fuel belts or containers you need to get you through. Alcohol is not allowed in the park, so unfortunately no after-race beer will be provided. However, if there's any interest I'll offer up my house for post-race festivities which most certainly would involve adult beverages. I live in Milford, about 15 minutes from the park. If we want to just keep it in the park, there are plenty of grills there. I'd recommend that everyone bring a dish along with whatever they'd like to grill. I'll supply the charcoal. In case you didn't see the links in Rick's message, here's the link to his image of the area. Parking, Transition Area, and Lake And here's a link to the park website: Park Website And here's a link to a pdf map of the park: Map |

I'd be down for either a BBQ at the park or some post-race festivities at Coops. Just let me know and I'll bring a dish to pass along with some soda's (canadian term for beer...from what I'm told). |

I will do everything I can to be there on Sunday- but right now I've gotta focus on writing a stellar grant so my grad program doesn't give me the boot- and it is due Monday, after our fun festivities. I really wish I could help run a transition clinic, or be more actively involved in the event, but as it stands right now, I'm lucky that I can even get out the door and train, and will be even luckier if I can show up Sunday. So, my apologies for being a lame tri-mentor to our fellow MI BTers! ok...back to grant writing.... |

Master 2202![]() ![]() ![]() Canton, Michigan | Subject: RE: Let's make a triathlon.I'd be more then happy to help out with a little transition work or at least show what works for me. I'm sure between Mike, Cheryl, Eric, Kim and Jason (sorry if I forgot anyone that's done Tri's before) there'll be more then enough folks to assist in it. I'll be heading there as soon as I get off duty Sunday morning and will be there by 9am or so. With the sickness that's hitting the family right now, I may be doing some longer running or riding after were done. I'll have to figure that out come Sunday and see what I can get in Saturday while at work. Thanks Rick and Coop for all your efforts. |

Extreme Veteran 730![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Milford, MI | Subject: RE: Let's make a triathlon.Post Race Festivities: I mentioned that I'll offer up my place for the post race party - that offer is still open - its 15 minutes from the park (about 1 mile north of the north entrance to Kensington Park which is off of Milford Rd). I've got an enclosed trampoline for any kids that might be coming along or for the adults who still think they're kids. I've also got a large gas grill, deck and patio. Plus if anyone needs/wants to shower you're welcome to use them. The bonus is the Canadian soda that will be on-hand (refer to Hamiltk10's msg about this being beer!) |
