Just back from the buffalo half marathon and a week long vacation.  I need to review my race stats, but I can at least update the basic info.  2H 36min.  Not as good as my first half marathon, but I will take the results.  I took the week off of running and stuff, so I am really interested in getting back into some swimming, biking, and running again.

You all posted some stellar races this past weekend!!!

I apologize for the lack of activity by me in this group - I started a new job last week and things have been a little crazy around here. Check out my logs - even my workouts have suffered a bit.

But, I'm proud to announce that my last few runs have been pain-free!

A tip to find race reports. If you click on "Races" in the icon bar under people's posts, it will take you to a list of their races.

Let's get this thread moving again... What was your biggest accomplishment in May?

Mine was knocking out a few pain-free runs during the month and "graduating" from Physical Therapy.

Ken - Great job on your half marathon!

Dave - Way to knock out your Oly!  And I'm staying out of the battle with your wife...Tongue out..congrats to both of you!

Elaine - congrats on the new job and hopefully things will settle down so you can get back into the training groove.

Here is my race report from my first Oly I completed this weekend if anyone wants to check it out: http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=255369

I did not have any big accomplishments in May.  I did get to watch my daughter in her school play and her ballet.  That was a lot of fun.

train safe it is getting hot.

train safe it is getting hot.

I've hit the temperature of morning training only, which sucks cause I hate waking up extremely early!

Wanted to check in and see if anyone is racing this weekend? I have one week left until my first tri and I can't wait, but I am nervous.

I got a nice 5k race this weekend.  First race since my half marathon two weeks ago, so I am still deciding how I am going to approach the race.  We have a nice large group of people from work running, so I might simply do this one as a fun run.

Looking over your logs, you look ready for your tri.  I officially have two months until my first tri, and I simply can not wait for it to happen.

Ken - good luck in your 5k!

Nick - you're totally ready. It's really normal to be nervous, though! We're here for any last minute questions

How was everyone's weekend? Did you do something triathlon related? Or maybe something else fun?

What is your focus on right now?

I'm struggling with getting up early to train. Any tips?

weekend was spent traveling home on Friday.  Pool party with friends on Sat.   biked on Sunday and more pool time with kids.

Focusing on OWS navigation and running tempo.

I fought the morning snoozes and had to start going to be earlier and it helped.  it was only about 30 mins earlier than when I struggled.

Finished a 5K race.  30:38.  I was not surprised by this time.  It was probably only my 3rd run since my half Marathon three weeks ago.  I ran this race last year and did it in 33:52.  So I am still ahead of my previous year run.

Other then that, spent a good day with the family for Father's dad.  Got to play around with my nephew.  He is almost three years old now.  So he can run around for hours without getting tired.

Ken - sounds like you should be proud of your 5K time, beating last year's effort!

Over the weekend I was in WV visiting my husband's family.  Thankfully I was able to get a GREAT open water swim in at beautiful, clean, clear Summersville Lake.  I could've swam all evening!  The next day I took my favorite running companion (the four-legged, furry variety), Coco for a run through the trails that are near the lake while my husband and less-running-inclined, furry pal Dobie walked/occasionally jogged along behind us.  Boy, Coco and I had a blast.  The woods were damp and misty from the previous night's rain which, although it made the trails a bit more slick, also added a neat mystique.

Had a high and low today.  Our training group picked up a local sponsor, we are working on what our new jerseys are going to look like.

low our open water swim area is closed for a while due to low water levels.  Next area is 45 minutes away.

Nick,

nice work on your overall finish.  I am looking forward to seeing your race report.  What is next on your schedule.

If you race Tri Tulsa I will be running it now.  The other tri we were going to race got cancelled so we switched it up to that one.  Might be racing claremore too.

Great to read about your tri.

It makes me think about the swim portion of my tri, since it is also an indoor pool.  But mine is only a 25meter pool.  So we will need 12 laps.  I am wondering about getting stuck in a slow caravan and not being able to pass.
