Added 9.3 this morning -- ran a 15k race. First in my age group, but there were only two of us. Still, I beat her by 17 minutes. :-)

Talking about small races -- I'm pretty sure there were less than 30 of us in four distances: 10k, 15k, 25k, 50k. As I signed up this morning, I debated with myself about whether to run the 15k as planned or go ahead and try the 25k. I decided to stick with my plan. I figured it was better to finish the 15k feeling like I should have signed up for the 25k than sign up for the 25k and feel like I should have signed up for the 15k.

Even though I walked a lot of the steepest hills (there was only one "flat" stretch of about 200 yards; otherwise, the whole thing was either up or down), at the end, I kind of wished I tried for the 25k, so I think I chose wisely.

This was my first "trail" run, and although we weren't really on trails (rural farm roads), the running surfaces were varied -- mud, gravel, sand, limestone, rocks. No water crossings. And up and down and up and down. Did I mention it was extremely hilly? ;-) Yep. In Kansas.

Oh stop it - everyone has seen Wizard of Oz and knows that KS doesn't have any hills

seriously - nice job!

Completed "Stone House (2x) Triple-Cross trail 8.5M " this morning - beat my goal by 30 secs !!!

The triple-cross part came from 3 stream crossings we had to do (twice since they were in the out and back portion of the race.  Water was cold - feet were numb for a bit after each crossing.  Overall a fun race though.

Kind of 'sad' - in a small (98 racers) 8.5 mile race I was 20 minutes behind the winner

Brr - cold wet feet - if I am going to do that type of stuff then I better get some Goretex shoes and some gaiters....  Great job on the race!  While you might have been 20 minutes behind the winner, you were way ahead of everyone who didn't bother to show up!

First 10k done in 1:00:44 ...  Was looking to average 10:00 mile - actually hit 9:41.  Beat my goal time of 1:03 by 2 minutes, but missed my super-secret goal of breaking 1 hour.  Great course by the lake, lots of wind today - 15-20mph - I wonder if wind affects running like biking...  hmm....

Congrats on great races everyone! I'm stoked about setting a three minute, half-marathon PR today on a perfect day in Michigan with a 1:21. I think the big running mileage is paying off.

WOW great job at the races today !!! so many PRs and nice success stories. It's inspiring .

I did a club run today and went easy except for a 2 mile section where i upped the pace and worked
on my form. Planning on a trail run tomorrow with our running team.

Fantastic job, girl!! So inspired!

Great job everyone that PR'd! I didn't get a new PB out of this race, but I ran a lot better than I expected I would. I'm very happy with my result, and my added miles, yay!

It's been a looooong weekend with much time spent away from home. Feels good to be back in it doing comforting things.

Enjoy your Sunday!

I'm on an unscheduled rest day today.  My 2.5 year old little boy has been puking all morning.  He's asleep right now so I think we are through the worst of it.  Being a mommy is the best job in the world even during the bad times.  Be sure to put in a couple extra miles for me.

I did a two mile recovery run tonight. My quads are getting mad at me for the hills yesterday. Ouch.

9 miles done this morning.  It was a difficult this morning due to the hills on the route and the DOMS from Sat....  Good miles though - I will be ready for my first 10 mile training run next week!

I haven't been running, or doing anything at all.  My health has really suffered this month, chronic fatigue and back pain. Ack. Sorry! I'll take myself off the log!

Ran with the dogs this morning for 4 miles .

Dont forget to post your miles. time or sessions and
add 50% extra mileage for races you competed in.
So for example an 8 mile race is worth 12 miles towards your goal

Lynne , rest up get better and hopefully we will see in a challenge again very soon .
