Good Evening Your Royal Hotness Yanti Doll, Treadmill Crusher, Taxi's Bane and Goddess of Haecceity!

Good Morning Kate

Morning Troy!  How is life in the fast lane?

Fast lane?  I have been here for 1.5 hrs and accomplished nothing.  trying to motivate myself to recycle a couple sylabi for next semester and prep for a new course im teaching.

Ooooh You want to come teach this for me  I would prefer not to, I am not a big fan of having to teach.

I have a hard enough time with basic cell anatomy let alone what you work with.  For that matter processing pee is to advanced for me.    Im more of square peg round hole...us a hammer type guy.

would you rather:

go on vacation to barcelona or ecuador?

Depends on what you want from a vacation. Barcelona will be more relaxed, Ecuador more active/hectic. With just 5-6 days, I would probably do Barcelona.

Barcelona is one of my favorite cities (if not my favorite). My brother-in-law is from there. Food, culture (architecture), lots to do and see. An easier vacation than Ecuador as you don't need to move locations much. I could easily spend 3-4 days in Barcelona alone, but there are many day/2 day trips you can do also. And Spanish wine is pretty good.

Never been to Ecuador (I was born and raised in Venezuela); but I can imagine being more active vacation (trails, hikes, etc), more stunning views and landscape, and more of a culture shock (in a good way). My only issue is that with only 4-5 days of actual vacation time, it might be too little to do everything you want to do.

My advice is take me with you. Fluent in Spanish, so I can help you in either location, very familiar with both cultures, and probably know people in both places that can show us around.

Barcelona Barfelona.  Kidding, one of the best cities I visited.  Go see:

La Sagrada Família - world-famous architectural masterpiece
Park Güel – Gaudí’s Park with beautiful city views
La Pedrera / Casa Milà - Gaudí’s famous building in Barcelona
Casa Batlló - Gaudí’s astounding contribution to Modernisimo
The Columbus Monument –  for the world-famous explorer

Oh, and musems - Picasso was from there, so lots of his stuff of course.

Sagrada Familia was slightly underwhelming but the Gaudi Park was cool as sheeyot. The hike to get up there is a challenge, but fun. And the beach. Just stay on the beach. I love the beach. Just keep an eye out for naked old men sunning themselves on the boardwalk.

I was disapointed with the scaffling up...  Apparently, it will be up for like another decade or some nonsense.  It sure is a tribute to those who build wierd things just because they can.

Oh, as a side note.  The public transportations system is pretty good.  Remants from the 92 olympics.  SUPER easy to get around for cheap.

You forgot "Las Ramblas". Is the main street of the old part of town. Make sure you stop at the food market, and plan just to get lost in the many small streets surrounding it.

OH yeah!  I remember that.  It was just down the street from my hotel (which was also just off the main street)

I want to get another stamp on my passport this year... so tough to decide on where if I can only pick one country!

Obvious first round picks are places like France, Italy, Spain.
Second round picks are places like Dubai, Amsterdam, Tokyo.

Where would you people go if you could only pick one place?

Dubai would be in the lower tier of countries I would ever want to go to frankly.  Seen too much of the ME...

Been to Dubai and Abu Dhabi (both in the U.A.E.)... I have no desire to ever return.  Granted, most of the construction that has happened there has been since I was there, but seeing the Burj or the funky private islands just isn't reason enough for me.  If I wanted to visit a place like that, I'd prefer Egypt, Turkey, or Morroco.

of the list - agree on Italy.  History, culture, food, museums, art... they have it all.
