Subject: RE: Barloworld Team Thread No rides for me today, folks. Rest it is - I knew I was tired when I woke up this morning to go swim and didn't want to - I love swimming. And I have to babysit right after work so no workout then eitehr. Which is fine, cuz it's been like a week since I've had a rest day! Getting up to ride tomorrow morning and hopefully knock one out on Sunday too. Who else is riding this weekend? |

Oh.....and by the way JoshKaptur..............you ready for this? I'm actually gonna be nice............GREAT JOB ON BUSTIN' YER CHERRY & ROCKIN' YER 1ST TRI! Even w/ the flat tire & all. However, it didn't happen if there are no pics in your album.
SEE YOU IN PARIS.........We'll be waiting!
Thanks for the kudos - there is one picture in my race report, as well as a link to the official results with my name in it in my blog. I guess I'll have to get some in an album too to make it "happen" Hope the injured barlo-ers in this thread heal quickly. I must proudly announce that I completed the savageman bike course today, and I'm signing up for the race tonight. You have to be a special kind of sick to want to suffer like that, but I think I'm that special By the way, it was also my longest bike ride ever! |

Royal(PITA) 14270 West Chester, Ohio | Subject: RE: Barloworld Team Thread sweet ride Josh 1.0! Did my first OW swim tonight--little nerve wracking on the way out but I settled down after a bit. Definitely need more OW practice before my race. Ran after that, very hilly out and back. Hit the trainer for a minimum ride when I got home since noone was here and I needed to call my brother. Hope for a real ride Sun AM before church though |

We are wrapping up an explosive first week of TdF here at BT, filled with all kinds of firsts and honors for the newbie Barloworlders. Josh v1.0 blasts his first tri and perseveres in the face of mechanical difficulties. Also bikes the crazy course of and signs up for his first HIM! That’s savage, man, savage. J Josh v2.0 has a deer blast his bike and perseveres in his triathlon--and unending, inimitable good cheer. Picks up a friend named Keith as a BarloDisciple. Chrissy blasts a training PR—a 1:12:40 split for 15.93mi on a hilly, technical ride. Mark’s son Zack blasts onto BT with his first post at the tender age of three—on the Barloworld thread. Mark exercises that most difficult of training strategies--holding back and saving for some serious mountains here at TdF and at home waiting for BarloBabe! Judi blasts ahead and stays in the lead for completed stages, AND blows up the water on her first open-water swim! Dolores blasts through her first brick … without blasting her legs! Yanti blasts out her longest ride ever—without a drinking problem. All of us have done things this week that we have never done before, and I imagine that some time ago we would not have thought possible. You guys are TRUE CHAMPIONS. It takes, as Josh 1.0 says, “a special kind of sick” to get over that greatest of barriers—a first step in a new direction. You ROCK my BarloWORLD.

Melon Presser 52116 | Subject: RE: Barloworld Team Thread Yes!!!! As Cat said, Juan Mauricio Soler Hernandez takes FOURTH in Stage 7!!! It's so funny ... a lot of the newsfeeds have been adding words like "surprisingly" to the stellar performances that newbies Barloworld have been putting out. Me ... well, like with our Barloworld team, there was never a doubt! I think it's great that a pack of wild-card puppies with experience and budget only 1/10, even 1/15 of the hotshot teams are kicking such . I was talking about us, of course. |

You're an awsome team leader, and very humble... but I for one think your own PR ride should have been on your list of accomplishments for Barlo. I do have to say, it is quite a list of accomplishments as a team! And TriAya... thanks for the quote... I like it more now that you've said it. |

Master 3546 Millersville, MD | Subject: RE: Barloworld Team Thread Not sure what happened to my post, but it was supposed to be quoting our fearless leader, and then reminding her that she too had a noteworthy first week of the tour. Master 1240 Knightdale/Raleigh | Subject: RE: Barloworld Team Thread Ride 3 is in the books. I thought it might be a mountain stage, but the biggest hill was 100' from bottom to top. Its a great way to start a Sunday morning. All the church going traffic at 8 is very friendly and I was still home in time to make it myself at 10:30. |

Subject: RE: Barloworld Team Thread Sorry team My roommie and I have spent the ENTIRE weekend cleaning out our kitchen - that's how unbelievably nasty it was. I still have to get some stuff unpacked, etc and then head to church - I skipped this morning as it was so we could finish cleaning. BUT...I think I am going to get up and ride tomorrow morning - riding early on Thursday was great cuz it was cool and there was no one out. That way, I'll still get a ride in, since I'm swimming in the evening. Promise I will catch back up and not let you down! Still got plenty of days to go... |

I'm getting them to put on the cyclecomputer as well and hopefully get someone to walk me through morer "bike 101" forcing me to remove tires/tubes in their presence since I'm a chicken about all that judi |

Melon Presser 52116 | Subject: RE: Barloworld Team Thread Just for my beloved Barloworlders ... I did have a major first today, something a lot more startling to me than my cycling PR ... So, there's always a gazillion pics of me, because my friends are a bunch of happy shutterbugs and we do a lot of events/social/sports stuff (oh, and I'm an attention hog). My coach just posted a bunch of pics of our AIDS Marathon training groups, and I kept looking through them, but couldn't find any with me. I looked harder at the ones with people from my pace group and with great shock realized that the normal-sized girl in there was me. That's why I couldn't find me. I was looking for the fat chick and she wasn't there. I am sure other people haven't thought I was fat for a long time, so my body has been making the transition, but my mind finally caught up. I have a ways to go, but I didn't know until today how far I'd come. I know a bunch of us have some serious before 'n' after pics, and all of you, for overcoming whatever your personal challenges have been, have my deepest respect. Edit: I was going to point out who in the group pic was me ... but you get to look for her, just like I did Edited by TriAya 2007-07-15 7:38 PM (BeforeNAfter.jpg) Attachments ---------------- BeforeNAfter.jpg (55KB - 24 downloads) |

This is just a quick reminder that reporting for the challenge is Monday (USA time) so TriAya can get the results to me on Tuesday for an update on Wednesday. NB: TriAya either post them in the team leaders thread OR email them to me... whatever is easiest!! Also feel free to mention any of the teams personal achievements to so they can be included in the update I think this team has a lot to mention.... |

Master 3546 Millersville, MD | Subject: RE: Barloworld Team Thread Kudos to triaya for her accomplishment!!! And kudos to team barlo for a sweet first week of the tour... the fact that we're on page 6 and the next closest team is on page four speaks loudly, methinks. What it speaks loudly about is another matter, but here are some possibilities, all of which make me proud:
Josh 2.0 - you da man for sticking it out despite your less-than-ideal circumstances. |

Subject: RE: Barloworld Team Thread Sorry for not being able to ride at all this weekend, guys. The kitchen cleaning took much longer than we thought - that's how unbelievably bad it was. We pulled out stuff from the pantry that had been there for years. And the fridge was disgusting. It literally took us all weekend. Then I was supposed to swim with a friend this morning and once again, our plans were foiled. So I will hopefully bike tonight, assuming no freak thunderstorms - there is always a threat every day around here in the summer. Then probably bike tomorrow morning. |

Yup, it's nice and clean now! I can still do the 21st, if we're all open for that. But I'm away the following weekend, so no worries if everyone else can meet up then. Let me know what works for the rest of you. If I can join you, I will. If not, I'll do something crazy like ride the W&OD by myself - maybe not the whole thing, but most of it |
