Well SOMEONE make a decision already!  If not, then I'll have to do it and we'll all end up biking to "The Flame" in A.J., followed by lunch at The Feedbag.

Ummm......the Flame is AJ's t*t-tay bar.  (And I when I say "AJ", I don't mean Aaron Jackson. However, it COULD be Aaron's fav t*t-tay bar. Not sure. He will have to let us know).

Yes...you are right Paulette, Chris is NOT the authority on where we ride, or else we WOULD end up at the Flaming Feed bag!!  BUT I am not the authority either! Buuuut...having said that......due to most of our needing to prepare for Soma, I would propose we do the "Square" around TTL that includes the dip down the hard hill, then run around TTL.  BUT I can be a sheep and do whatever the group wants to do as well. As long as it's safe. I'm the safety girl, ya know!

Paulette - The full name is "The Desert Flame".  And how is that any weirder than females going to watch a bunch of guys who call themselves "Chip-n-Dales" wave their tackle around?

Because the Chip-N-Dales still have their teeth.

I agree it's a boring loop.  Well, I had originally planned on doing TdG and running on the canal, but again, am up for whatever the group wants.

I'm trying to remember. Is the bike lane still open on Curry where it narrows down past College? With all of the cones for Timex, road construction, and congestion of bikes, I don't have a clear idea of what it looks like normally.

BTW, my previous wasn't really input as to whatever route ends up being taken on Sunday. I'm seriously considering going off on my own Sunday and doing loops around Mummy Mountain. IIRC, it's about 13 miles/loop, but there's just a buttload of climbing with some really obnoxious grades (although you can opt-out of the really nasty stuff by altering your course). I really wouldn't wish that on anyone else...

I suppose I could add a run on the roads around the golf course afterward.

I have been up around Curry a lot lately and they JUST reopened College and Curry is still a disaster zone with only the right side of the road open. YUCK!

I am DYING to do Mummy Mtn. Sorry I will miss it! GO TO BED GRAMBLER!!!

Funny. I was thinking the same thing about you when I saw my "update notificaton". Of course, you posted your "go to bed" 2 hours ago... so I guess you win this round. But I'll get you next time Gadget. NEXT TIME!

Oddly, DYING to do Mummy Mtn. is a fairly appropriate description...

Ok people.....we have today and tomorrow to sort this out.  Where's Harry.  We need a voice of reason and logic here.

I talked to Harry at Yogurt last night and he agreed that the SOMA course was a goofy course and not worth doing now that we already know what it is.

He said he threw out the South Mountain ride but that nobody responded to it.

ok....I would like to propose So Mountain, or Tour de Gilbert. I can go either way.  SM would be a nice change of scenery.  Only advantage of doing TdG is that we can do laps, and people who are not yet ready to do the whole kit and caboodle can jump in and do fewer laps.

And loops keep those of us in the back of the bus from being lost all day as eventually you will catch up on your second pass to where I was dazed and confused on the road.

I vote South Mountain Loop.  We've never done it so it would keep things fresh and is closer for the West Siders.

Kind of looks like people are leaning towards South Mountain.  Give me a chance though to look at some maps and see if Desert Breese park is the best place to start and stop from. I need to do a long run afterward, and running on pavement or streets kills my legs. I would really like to run on a canal.  I see there is a High School with a track that is right next to a canal about 2 miles away from the park, so let me see what that would do to the route and then I will propose something.

Here's my proposal:

http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/training/map.asp?routeid=33650

We do the South Mountain loop, leaving from Tempe Town Lake, going down Hardy to Guadalupe, and joining with the other route in Little Mexico. It adds a couple miles making it 51miles, and the Lake course is there for the SOMA run training.

Breakfast at US Egg to follow.

Now, all that said I don't know how much I can do. My folks will be in town. Maybe I'll see if they want to have brunch with a bunch of smelly people

Harry's plan it is then.

Meet at TTL at 6 ready to ride at 6:15 then??  Be packing food and water for a long ride!!  (Or at least bring some moola for a QT stop along the way if necessary)
