That's before weight each morning. I'm shooting for the 155 - 160 range to see if love handles will fall off at that point.

Go Cowboys!

Ah, I knew it was going to cool off in TX before I got back...I'm going to freeze...I'll be the one running in long sleeves and pants when it's 55 outside (when in the past that'd still be short weather...shorts as long as possible)...oh well, so long as I'm home, I don't care!

I may or may not run some tomorrow...if I do it really will be to keep my legs loose for Sunday.  I'm a little tired today. Kudos to everyone and their miles! Keep it up team and there is no way in heck we're losing this thing!

As for the Pats jersey--due to the crappy Dept. of Defense network I'm on here, there are lots of images that, for whatever reason, do not show up...so I can't see it.  BUT nonetheless... GO COWBOYS!  Our head boss man here is from Boston and never stops talking about the Patriots...he drives us nuts, his right hand-man is a Cowboys fan...needless to say, we will rub it in till we redeploy if (more like WHEN) the Cowboys take 'em down. Okay, no more intra-team smack talk..we gotta save that for the other teams! haha!

Happy Friday all...enjoy it, I am going to enjoy it because the MAIN BODY of our replacements get here today...I only have a little over a week of work left before they take over!

Hey Joe,

You have already voiced your concern about your training leading up to this event in your blogs. You may just want to take your advice to everyone else to heart.

jszat - 2007-10-12 1:18 PM

Its too cold and rainy this weekend. Make sure y'all stay out of that weather and logging miles. And treadmills? Blech! Take it nice and easy. You deserve it. No, really, you do.

Love,

A concerned BTer not in the challenge on a team that might be competing against you.

Plus you may just want to take it easy a little while longer after your IM. And think of your children... Why don't you stay home and take care of Ava and her bonked nog.

Signed,
Your Friendly Neigborhood Vampire.

Hi guys!  While the losing teams were busy posting pictures of constipated fruit and the like, I was out running 5.4 miles.     New shoes too.  Yummmm.  Life feels good.  I'm over halfway to my goal for the month -- amazing to me, since I made sure to set my goal higher than my best month ever before!

Next week there will be a slight drop in mileage from me as I take it a little easier before my big 10K trail run next Saturday -- woo-hoo!

Enjoy your running folks.  That's all the magic we really need.

You're doing great, CitySky. How do the new shoes feel?

After I bought mine, my wife started questioning the wisdom of buying new shoes one week before a race. Almost 25 miles on the new shoes and no blisters.

I LOVE running on new shoes, of course, they are usually the same model but new pair. I am good at scouring the internet for every last pair for several years until I have to upgrade to the newer model. lol

I have had a wicked weird and not fun at all couple of days. argh....finally got everyone out of the house and went for a run about 7pm. I haven't done an evening run in I don't know how long, but I just HAD to run. So I was going to go 30 minutes but decided to go ahead and do 4 miles. IT was cool and I didn't need sunglasses, visor or sunscreen for once. Wahooooo.

And, good thing I added the extra time on because in my last quarter mile or so the song came on my ipod SANTANA's BLACK MAGIC WOMAN....yes, that is what I finished my run to and now I am going to take a nice shower and have my favorite 'tis' just me here' dinner of wine and popcorn and watch an Oprah show I taped. GIRLS NIGHT!

Tomorrow I am bagging the OWS because I honestly am still a little leery of the amoeba's. And then I'll do the Breast Cancer Awareness ride, and maybe a run on the trail before or after that - gotta get my miles in before Monday.

You guys all have a GREAT time out there, run some miles, and let's see if we can take over first place this coming Monday, ok???

They felt great, nice stability.  Still Brooks, same platform, but a lighter-weight model.  ONE muscle in my right foot felt like it might be working more; weird, huh?  Will alternate for the next week and make a game-day decision for the 10K next Saturday.

I just read something not too long ago regarding shoes (I can't remember where). The article was stating that you should have at least two DIFFERENT makes/models of running shoes. By cycling these shoes, it helps prevents injuries.

Most people I know have only one make/model of shoe that they use. After it's worn out, they search for the same make/model.

I haven't had injury problems since I've started tri'ing but I thought it was an interesting idea.

I always have two pairs that I rotate, but usually the same model. I learned that it takes the shoes 24-48 hours to rebound from a run.

When I was running LOTS and LOTS, I typically had 5-6 pairs that I swapped out, and on long runs I'd switch every 10-15 miles. Now that was so fine, swapping into fresh shoes on a longer run.

I also only get about 300 miles per pair, because I STOMP around when I run, more like plodding. Most folks will get 300-500 miles per pair. Then mine turn into yard shoes.

Yea, I need to do the rotate shoe thing and will do so when shopping is easier for me (so in 2 1/2 WEEKS! Yeehaw!)...I never had the need to before, but I do now.

Anyhow, put me down for 4 miles for today! Plan for 2 miles on the APFT tomorrow. I am going to look at my mileage and planned runs from here and may need to up my pledge...will post further if necessary!

Happy Weekend all!

Ken - Good Luck Sunday. Go for it.

Good week everybody, well done. Black Magic are the BEST.

Just noticed whilst doing my fantasy team that it's Pat's @ Cowboys this week. Thought it was next. Silly me. Haven't checked TV listings yet but it must be on live here. Tex & Ken. Think you should add another 10 to your targets if Cowboys lose. I'll do same if Giants trip up. (Yes, I have seen your extra 15 already). This month is supposed to be a challenge, right?

Happy Sunday Team! Here are some big shout outs to Jszat and KenD for the big races today! Have fun, be fast, but most of all HAVE FUN! No running for me today, but an 8.5 miler on tap for tomorrow.  Here is my "initial" plan for this next week...we'll see what happens, but I will get my 150 pledged...it may be difficult or it may be easy and I'll go over, but it all depends on how this transition with the new guys go...but I will get 150 (most I'll have ever run in one month in my life....I'm loving this whole thing and truly think about y'all and HAVING to do my runs for the team!) GO BLACK MAGIC!

M: 8.5 mi
T: bike/lift
W: 17 mi
TH: bike/lift
Fri: 10.5 mi

Hope you all had a great weekend. After a short knee breaking run (this could be terminal & career ending), the computer calculates 37.64 miles so far this month. 62.7% by my calculations.

I had no problems with the knee on the ride but within a mile of the run I could feel that something was wrong. It started to sieze up as I was talking to a neighbour when I got back & has stayed that way all day.

Giants had better win tomorrow as I don't fancy doing an extra 10 miles - LOL.

Thanks for your consideration Cat..

Oh man, Lara! You should have at LEAST had a great makeout session if you had to go and get mono. I am so sorry to hear about it, but now that you know what's going on hope you are on the mend soonest. We would all LOVE it if you pop in and cheer us on, as we could really use the encouragement (speaking for myself of course)

not to mention I love seeing that AV.

Take care sweetie!

Cat, thank you for the accomodation. We have another member who I can't seem to get to respond but she's still logging some minutes. Should I keep her on the role? ( OfftheCouchandTri )

Other than that, our team is CRANKING!!! Remember to get all your run/walks logged before tomorrow so I can collect them for the posting.

Yeah team BLACK MAGIC

Hi, if she is still logging lets keep her in for now and re-evaluate next week when we know if she is gonna check in... sometimes life just keeps us busy!

There are several teams with AWOL members but Im acting on the benefit of the doubt right now if they have checked in to the team at least once... but Im not going to penalise teams if someone has to drop out so dont worry!
