tbatt - 2008-01-16 6:41 AM I already have a roof rack.  That's my friends rack.   I like my rack because it can also carry a Christmas tree!!  I'll be ordering a 3rd tray soon.  I seem to carry 3 bikes with me sometimes.  Transporting on a gizmo like that only takes skill to keep them from banging.  And we can't control all situations.  I would take someone rear ending me as an excuse to upgrade my bike

NICE RACK!!!!!!

Hi Cubie Baby!

I see you were able to walk to your laptop. .  How are you legs recovering?

The 145 mile December was crucial for me.  I feel GREAT!  No biomechanical issues (ITB, pulled muscles, etc).  Just some lingering soreness which is countered with 800mg Ibuprofen.

This will get better as you get back into this!!

I had to do that Tim!! Take it easy and don't try to start up where you left off! That's a sure way of hurting yourself. You will be suprised how fast you will start to feel better. Just try to be as consistent as you can.

Hey everyone!! I hope your weeks are going well and you've been getting some training in! If things get very busy for you try to remember that a 20 minute run or 30 minute spin on a trainer are an option! You'll feel much better after a "quickie!!"

Hi Bob,

Quick question for you, What type of HR monitor do you used? You get so much more data from yours than my Polar.

Thanks

Hey David! I use the 625X and love it. I don't even use most of the features that are available on it. I like how easy it is to set up to do what I want it to. One of these days I'll look at the manual and figure out how to program intervals into it.

About my "race weight" - I got down to 160 last year at some point but at the Ironman I was 165. I'd love to see 155 and sub 10% but will race at whatever weight I am at.

Another lunch round of spin class with she devil again.  Lots of climbing while maintaining cadence both in and out of seat, some sprinting, little recovery.  Average HR 161 bpm, that seems to be where I am locking in although that is over a longer period of time that a field test and accounts for the initial warm up.  Got up early this am to do a bike trainer test, but I was too tired to really give it my all for two 8 minute sessions.  Accordingly, my HR during those sessions was much lower 142 bpm.  I need to go get it all tested at the Sports Factory.

Exciting news from the homefront.  I OFFICIALLY registered for IM 70.3 FL.  No backing out now!  Now for the sad news, my wife's biggest client-centric convention in New Orleans starts the same day.  So she, and as a result my kids, may not make it.  So, I may be looking to glob on to the cheering crew of anyone else doing this race.  Just a simple "Go Jon Go" will give me a huge boost of energy.  My wife decided to not come watch me in the HIM in ATL that went by the end of our street (1 mi from house) and that was a huge let down/slow down.

OK, enough BOO HOOing, time to do some work stuff.  GO BOB STOCKS GROUP!

John,

You can tag along with our cheering section! We have 4 of us going down to do the race (3 1st time 1/2 racers and 1 2nd timer racer) We should have a nice little crowd to feed off of!! Good luck and keep intouch with the training!

David

Definitely sign up and pay for a race.  Then print out your receipt and put it over your desk.  You then have a target and a daily reminder to train.

JBD - your races look awesome! So living in Iowa...my races are all po dunk. I think I need to go somewhere warm.

Heading home to go for a swim. I just looked at my planned workout...it says I should swim 300 steady, 100 drill repeats for 45 mins. No stopping...seriously...I thought it was a big deal swimming for 20 mins last summer.

Later...

T Dog
