They say it may get up to 70F today here in upstate NY!

I'm heading out for my long run to enjoy the sunshine.  Oh I really do like the hours of a stay at home mum/ part time coach sometimes

I'm getting psyched to ride OUTSIDE this weekend for the first time! I am looking for hills.

Papson, I would let you see my logs, except I don't have any online.

I had a breakthrough with swimming yesterday, and it was welcome because my swimming has been SUCKING lately. The only difference was that on the way to the pool, I used my asthma inhaler a couple of times. Wasn't having asthma, it was kind of a whim. Well lo and behold, I swam two miles, easily. I was shocked! Took 55 minutes.

Previously I would swim a few laps then stand in the shallow end trying to catch my breath. It was frustrating and freaking me out. I had this image of never actually swimming the whole distance, or even half of it, without stopping, then getting to race day and having a panic attack. Now it turns out the pool/chlorine was giving me asthma and that was why I could never get enough air.

I think I'm going to do the 2.4 miles every couple of weeks, increasing to once a week as it gets closer to race time; then do the interval workouts on the other swim days. Being able to swim the distance easily and often will do a lot to calm me down on race day.

Now I just need to find some people to elbow/punch/kick me in the head/swim over me while I do it...

Yep glad for the warmer weather and outside rides, but let's bring that sun up a little bit earlier so I can get my bike rides done outside in the morning.

Still nervous to bring my new bike outside, still using my old road bike outside.  I'll have to suck it up and ride it outside sooner or latter.

If I can scrounge up enough money!  For now, I'm just a lurker in the IM threads.

I'm planning on IM Australia next year and if I can convince the wife I'd like to take one last run at IM Japan to try and redeem myself.   LP is hard to get to from here.

Question??? Why do you need to redeem yourself at IM Japan?

I failed with my nutrition and spent the last 20 miles running from port o potty to port o potty.  Maybe redeem is the wrong phrase.  How about - Take another crack at IM Japan

Have you really identified the issue with your nutrition? What was it?

No LP.  I want to do Challenge Roth next year, or whatever that IM in Germany is called.   I think it will be my 3rd & final IM.

I had switched from a Perpetuem/Gu combo to a GU and Cytomax.  It seemed to work better for me as I liked the taste much better and I felt better throughout training.  However, some of my  training sessions I would have some slight GI trouble a few hours after I finished the long workouts.  Since it was always 3+ hours after I finished and I never had problems while I was out training I didn't worry about it.  Guess I should have because the same GI problems arrived early on race day.

I have since switched to Infinit and the problems have not been back.

My hubby is volunteering in a med tent this year so that HE can do LP next year.  He's looking forward to starting some IVs so STAY HYDRATED!!!  I ain't shelling out the $$ for an Ironman brand Ironman-distance  race for a loooong time after this year.

I skipped the sushi the night before, it does take some getting use to knowing that you wont be able to find the things you're use to eating.  Goto, Nagasaki is a tiny island, but I had been practicing eating curry and rice before long workouts as you can find that anywhere in Japan.  You should have seen the dried fish breakfast they were serving race morning... I passed there too.

PennState - 2010-03-18 7:59 PM Personally I think I am going to take an ironman break in 2011. I'm not sure of this and certainly don't hold me to it. Just thinking that 3 straight years of ironman are a bit much and I would like to focus of the HIM distance.

I think I'm going to do an UltraMarathon early next year; then the Boston Marathon, then Plymouth Rock Iron distance in September.    Only M-Dot will probably be Eagleman.  In 2012 I'm thinking I may give all three Rev 3 Series a go, depending on how I like the Quassy Rev this June.  Oh yes, I am addicted to running, biking and swimming.

how do sign ups work for people doing the race?

either sign up Saturday or wait in line Monday?  Do you get preference Monday with the volunteers?

just curious, I could see myself waiting to see how it plays out Sunday, this wont be my last IM, but I could see myself waiting, maybe doing a race that doesn't sell out so fast, like louisville....

If you're doing the race, you can sign up on Saturday.   I don't know about preference on Monday morning, but I don't think so.

Not likely I'll do IMLP in 2011.  I'm more interested in trying all the different races than repeating.  Maybe St. George or New Zealand and Canada next year.
