Expert 1231 B'ham | Subject: RE: swbkrun's group - FULL Long day for me today, had to catch a flight at 5:30 this morning and will be in meetings and other crap until 8:00 tonight. The upside, Pre's Trail is again just across the bridge from my hotel. Hopefully I'll be able to get a run or two in while I'm here this week. Edited by cadmus 2008-11-11 1:12 PM |

I used to get the email alerts to chainlove, but after a few days I realized it was totally useless. Now I have the instant alerts to chainlove and steepandcheap. Love that stuff! |

Champion 9060 Charlottesville, Virginia | Subject: RE: swbkrun's group - FULL Hello everyone, got back from Miami this morning, lol I want to go back, I miss 80 degree weather. Race went ok except for the run. Didn't swim as fast as I think I should of but still not bad I suppose. Was a great venue, I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a vacation/triathlon. Did I miss anything exciting? |

Champion 9060 Charlottesville, Virginia | Subject: RE: swbkrun's group - FULL Hey Tracy, In response to your post I loved the sleeveless wetsuit. The temperature was perfect for it. I heard other people say they wished they had brought a sleeveless one instead of their full. Though it didn't help my times much, lol the time I posted I can swim faster without a wetsuit. LOL, also is it bad that my run took longer than my bike? |

Master 1952 Guelph, Ontario | Subject: RE: swbkrun's group - FULL congrats on the race Tony. I would have loved to have been down there also. I love the warm weather. on another note: I was a bit slow on the ride this morning. I can always tell when I have eaten something I shouldn't. I feel crappy for the next day of training. I had two peanut butter and jelly sandwiches yesterday and have an allergy to peanut butter. I just love it so much sometimes I have to give in. Edited by Redknight 2008-11-12 10:26 AM |

Master 2436 Apex, north carolina | Subject: RE: swbkrun's group - FULL Hi guys, My running challenge group posted this article about running styles, specifically the foot-strike positions. Heel vs mid-foot vs forefoot. I thought it was interesting. The main point I got out of it was don't monkey with how you currently run, just run faster. By running faster your foot strike placement wil change accordingly and you won't force an injury. http://www.sportsscientists.com/2008/04/running-technique-footstrike.html |

She ended up being faster for the one race she tried it in but also ended up injuring her foot so badly she couldn't run for a month afterwards. |

Pro 4100 Wherever the trail takes me, WA. | Subject: RE: swbkrun's group - FULL Well my GOOD WINE, GOOD LAUGHS, and GOOD FRIENDS note for the weekend is coming out a few days early. I am heading down to Arizona to spend time w/ my folks until Sunday. My wife was asked to go to ASU on a recruiting trip and we figured if we can get down there only have to buy 1 ticket.... GIDDYUP! I hope everyone has a great weekend... Let's try and put a game/bet out there.... Something to spice this pig up.... Everyone please set a goal for themselves.... It can be speed, distance, something new, etc.... But set a goal, and GET IT DONE!!!! FOr me?! It is going to be tough being on Vaca.... Golf (better my score?) Lawn bowling? Bocci (sp?) ball? Horseshoes? Lots of wine? Swim in my parents lap pool? It is going to be hard for me to have any MAJOR BREAKTHROUGH, or ADVENTURE.... Does this make me a hypocrit? SORRY! |

Champion 9060 Charlottesville, Virginia | Subject: RE: swbkrun's group - FULL So got my computrainer all up and running, very sweet. Found the trainer for 300 bucks, 325 with shipping The guy couldn't find the cables so I had to buy those + the cadence sensor that was 75 bucks. He had the older software so I have to buy that tonight for 80 bucks. All and all it cost me 480 bucks for the whole thing, still a pretty damn good deal, I am really looking forward to my rides this winter, I might also get the course creation software, I can get course data from my Garmin or google earth and create courses from it, so I can ride all my courses I plan on doing next year ahead of time.

Master 1952 Guelph, Ontario | Subject: RE: swbkrun's group - FULL yahoo Tony. Great deal on the computrainer. Steve: you need to have a new gaol also even if it just jumping in thpool with your clothes on and trying to treadwater. Or maybe golfing with only 4 clubs (including your putter) and get a better score. In any event have a great weekend. Does drinking a case of beer (24) or wine at one sitting count as a new challenge? |

Good luck with it this winter. x2 Shaping up to be a rough week. Super long day yesterday, get back to the hotel and call home. The little one has the flu, and my wife ended up being up most of the night with her. Neither is feeling great and I'm not going home until tomorrow. Sucks being out of town when they could really use my help at home - makes me start to reconsider trying to get my bosses job when it opens because it would mean even more travel. Ok, whining over. I ran on Pre's Trail here in Eugene today. I about had a coronary when the UO track/XC (??) team passed me. I had my iPod rockin and didn't hear them coming, all of a sudden - SWOOOSH(tm)!!! Man those dudes are fast, fast, fast. I spent the rest of the run looking over my shoulder. |

Elite 5316 Alturas, California | Subject: RE: swbkrun's group - FULL Yay, got a cold setting in. Why do I get sick before every single competition? And at this point in my training for the mary I need to be healthy for a 20 miler or 3 in the next 2 months. Sigh. Haven't slept much in 2-3 nights. At 2:30 am I was hoping it was morning so I could get out of bed. Oh well I am at work because if I don't get stuff done well stuff would hit the fan. As fun as it would be to make my boss mad over it, I don't have the energy for the drama. ramble ramble. Time to type a report or 3. |

Master 2436 Apex, north carolina | Subject: RE: swbkrun's group - FULL I think I am going to run this trail run in January. It should be a good training run for my 1/2 marathon at the end of March. Hopefully it won't be too rainy otherwise I foresee those leaves being very slippery. |

Elite 5316 Alturas, California | Subject: RE: swbkrun's group - FULL It is amazing how much a 10 min ice bath helps for the legs after the long run. No real soreness at all today afther yesterday's run. Although... for that nasty trail run I was still sore for a few days even with icing. But that was mustly from the long downhill stretches and using my upper thighs to break down the hills. Looks like good weather for the weekend Yay!!! No rain in the forcast. |

Champion 9060 Charlottesville, Virginia | Subject: RE: swbkrun's group - FULL LOL, its alot tougher than I thought to build my bike up. Some of the parts are easy, front and rear derailurs(sp?), wheels, brakes, aero-shifters. What gets difficult is the Base and Aero-bars and the cranks. There are so many to choose from. I am making a spreadsheet to list out how much I pay for everything. My plan is to get everything for the most part used, the frame will be new but I plan on getting the rest from ST, BT, Craigslist or E-Bay. Any thoughts on cranks or base/aerobars? |

Elite 5316 Alturas, California | Subject: RE: swbkrun's group - FULL If you put an icecube in the water and it has not fully melted 5 min later the water should be cold enough 8). Also if your skin turns red and your legs go numb in less than 10 min is good also. If your teeth chatter and you are hyperventilating you have it right. If your asks if you are alright... probly good. |
