Yesterday morning I thought my cold was gone. But in the late afternoon I started sneezing and stuffing up again. Yuck! Another round of phone calls this morning..... SUCKTASTIC! Will you have time to get some rest this weekend, or will you be on the run?
Only thing really planned tomorrow is grocery shopping and cooking the BBQ pork for potluck. Sunday I will be busy from about 7:30 to probably 3:30. What do you have coming up besides the kayaking? Back to school, and grocery shopping today. Kayaking most of the day tomorrow, it's a whitewater kayaking class I'm taking. Sunday I could drive 2 hours north and go on a kayaking trip with the people from the class and others, not sure yet about that. It depends on how I feel after kayaking all day Saturday. If I don't go on Sunday I may take Caleb to see the new Percy Jackson movie that came out this weekend. |

MotoQueen ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Dee - I hope that your cold is going away. Ann - you do need to stop hurting yourself. Hope that the burn is not too bad and you can enjoy your day kayaking. I looked at the kayaks here, but between boogie boarding and bicycling (and we really only have two days) I'll have to save the kayaking till I come back in October. Robin - wherefore art though Amy - are the kids getting ready to go back to school soon? Ours went back this week. Well, not mine (ha ha, baby is 29), but the county's kids. Dr. Melissa - hope that you are surviving your residency. |

MotoQueen ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Job - They made the offer and I accepted. They now have to get it approved by the equal opportunity board, and should know by end of day today, or Monday. Then they will send me the official "offer letter". They offered me almost 9K more than what I am making now, so I am quite happy. Once I have the offer letter in hand, I will turn in my month notice at work, so I will more than likely be starting the new job on Sept 16th (that is a Monday, right?) Now I am totally nervous. I really thought I would retire from Gwinnett County Public Library, but now that is not to be the case. I am having second thoughts, but not enough to change my mind. Because I can up until I give my notice at work, but I will not. I think this is a great opportunity to challenge myself in my work life. Plus, what they offer is just awesome. Can you imagine being expected to attend 2 to 4 conferences a year? Not having to bid for a spot to go, but just to let them know you are going. Woot! I think I'm going to have to have a party to celebrate the job change. You are all invited! |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Morning Ghoulies. I was up and out of the hours early yesterday so I didn't get a chance to say HI. I did a whole lot of nothin. Got my hair done, toes done and read a book. Today, a run and yardwork and laundry. Have fun kayaking Ann. I hope your burn is better. That sounded awful! Body glide can help with things touching it. Though, the water is sure gonna make it tender. Take carel. |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() So how were your weekends? Friday night I single-handedly tried to stimulate the economy. We got school supplies, shoes, some clothes, dinner, and groceries. I do believe that there is no such thing as customer service, and common courtesy anymore after my dealings at several businesses this weekend. <sigh> Saturday I was up early and headed to the river. It was warm so I didn't need my drytop at all, which was good. We did the land portion first. That was easy. Then shuttled up to the put in and did some driving back and forth so only 1 vehicle from our group was there. That ended up being mine. We got on the water around 11:00. We spent the day practicing getting in and out of eddy's, ferrying across the river, some surfing, and things like that. It was hard work. We did a lot of paddling upstream. There were 6 people in our group, and 2 instructors. Most everyone was nice, but there is always that 1 person. We had a guy who was more interested in just playing than doing anything else. We frequently had to wait for him because he was surfing, or rolling, or whatever. It got frustrating for the rest of us. We had lunch on a small island on the river. We were on the water for about 4.5 hours. Towards the end of our trip the river really widened, so there wasn't much current, which meant a lot of paddling. By the time I got home Saturday night I was wiped out! Keri made me some dinner. Even if I'd have planned to go on Sunday's trip I wouldn't have been able to make it. My shoulder told me it was done, thank you very much. Yesterday morning I was doing some running around. I was stopped at a red light and saw smoke coming out of the front of my car again. I looked down at the thermometer and my car was running hot. I hit a walmart parking lot that was nearby and called Donnie. I figured I had time to kill, and I was thirsty so I walked in to Walmart and picked up a bottle of water, and a Twix. I got in the 10 items or less line. There was a cart behind the person checking out with 35 items that I could see, and the owner wasn't around. I was really hoping the person checking out would get done quickly so I could just jump ahead. She came back carrying 3 more items. I pointed out to her that the sign said 10 items or less. She asked the cashier if she had to leave and the cashier told her that no, the sign didn't mean anything. I said that was ridiculous, the sign said 10 items or less it means 10 items or less. The cashier said she wasn't allowed to turn people away and suggested I talked to the manager. I asked where the manager was and she called her over. The manager looked like she was about 17. I asked about the sign and she said that anyone could check out anywhere regardless of the signs. I told her that was ridiculous and if that was the case they needed to remove the signs. She said no, they couldn't remove the signs. She told me she'd check me out at the next register. I walked out of there incredibly pizzed off. Grrrr Anyway... Donnie gave me his truck, he took my car, and I finished doing what I was doing. When he eventually got home after church he told me we'd have to take my car to the garage, he thinks the water pump went out. I told him I didn't want to put any more money into the car, but he said it would be cheaper to put in a water pump than buy a new vehicle. We put a couple hundred dollars into it a month ago. Plus it needs tires, breaks, rotors, and now whatever else needs fixed. The car has over 170,000 miles on it. It's time to go. I did get to take Caleb to see the new Percy Jackson movie yesterday. He enjoyed it. I thought it was kind of flat. That's it. No more. |

Ann, Your WW kayaking trip sounds lovely. I miss doing that. I can only imagine how your shoulder felt. That is A LOT of paddling. Your experience at Wal-Mart is why I never go there. I hate, hate, hate the place and everything it represents. Matter of fact, I try to avoind all big-box stores when I can. I am off to Raleigh this am, I'll catch up more this evening. |

MotoQueen ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Good morning Ghoulies. First day back to work after vacation. Tomorrow is a branch meeting, and I'm so hoping that I can tell my staff all at once that I am leaving. It sure would make life easier. Unfortunately I found out that someone who retired from here 18 months ago passed away at the end of last week. The funeral is on Thursday, so I need to see if I need coverage so that staff that knew her can attend. She was a very special person, such a positive outlook on life. She will be missed. Keep fingers crossed that the letter arrives today, so I can give notice first thing tomorrow morning. Woot! |

MotoQueen ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Ann, sounds like you had an awesome weekend, except for the car. My weekend wasn't much. Driving home on Saturday, did get in some shopping. New running pants & top. Sunday was spent cleaning out the garage. When we arrived home on Saturday we discovered our freezer had defrosted, so we hat to toss everything, and it eventually turned into an all day clean the garage. Tonight I get to go shopping for food. |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Ugh. So the head gasket is blown on my car $1,300+ to fix. My pos car is worth less than $1,000 according to kbb. My husband told them to fix the car. I just called the garage and told them no. Along with this it also needs tires, rotors, brakes, and a water pump. I am not putting that much money into a car that is worthless. Time to car shop. |

I was looking at Nissan Rogues until I read some reviews, same with Murano's. Looked at Hyundai Tucson, it's too small. I'm looking at Ford Escapes now. I had an escape years ago and I loved it. With Donnie being a big guy, and Caleb working very hard to be a big guy, all the sports equipment, and chairs for sporting events I carry, I need room. Plus I'd like AWD or 4WD since I'm on call 24/7/365.

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Good morning Ghoulies! I am WFH today. With only having 1 vehicle that leaves Donnie with the motorcycle. We have been getting torrential downpours for the past few hours, last I read was 2" an hour. We also have flood advisories, watches, and warnings for the whole area. I'm staying put. Donnie probably couldn't have borrowed a vehicle, but on a day like today I hate to assume. Buying a vehicle will be the bane of my existence. Donnie doesn't like to spend money, ever. So when we tried to sit down last night and look at the budget he is totally unreasonable. I spent close to $600 this past weekend on items that aren't needed monthly, like backpacks, lunch boxes, other misc school supplies, the kids both got 2 pairs of shoes for school, plus both needed soccer cleats and shin guards. I also got some clothes for both of them. I put $200 a month in the budget for stuff like that, he wanted to put $600 in. Other things that I've paid once he wants to put in as reoccurring monthly payments. NO. At the end of the day, when all my bills and expenses are paid I have plenty of money to make a car payment. I have a good job, I make my own money, I'm buying what I want. I'd prefer to do it with him, but I'll do it without him if I have to. |
