Found out yesterday that a guy who was a groomsman in my wedding (and the reason that Annie and I met) was awarded the Legislative Medal of Honor given out by the Texas Legislature. The MoH is given out once every two years and is only awarded to one person. My buddy was killed by an IED in 2009 after saving 3 guys from his platoon. And....I got an M-Dot tattoo this weekend too...
Same person given the medal and who tragically was killed? Sorry to hear of your and his family's loss. He sounds like a brave guy; the guy you want with you.
Yeah....same guy. In re-reading that it sounds like I'm talking about 2 different people.

Wow. Lotta stuff there. Amazing friend.

Pic of tat?

How yer feet feeling, puppy?

He was a great dude....

Pic of tatt (and story) is on the blog - link in signature

Body is back to 100%. Start working out tonight.....push ups, squats, sit ups, and low mileage running/biking.....can't let myslef gain weight.

Hi TAN,

My weekend was pretty much a bust.  Started out with a sore throat Friday night but I decided in my infinite wisdom that if I just ignored it, it would go away!  Didn't quite work out that way... I spent most of Saturday, Sunday and Monday indoors with poor Tony taking care of me & making me yummy chicken soup.

That sucks.

I finally had a GOOD long weekend.

Went out with the office on friday for lunch and Star Trek.

Saturday I shoped and golfed and caught up on some stuff.

Sunday was movie day with the wife.  We say Hangover III and snuck into Star Trek Sealed.  Then went to a fantastic dinner

Monday was Grand Canyon.

Nice!  Sounds like a much better weekend than what I had.

I was all prepared to do your sneaky movie thing on Monday (Ironman 3 and Fast and Furious 6) until I went across the street to pick up some milk and came back absolutely exhausted.  The rest of the day was spent on the couch watching The Killing.

so at work i like to listen to pandora to help me focus (noisy cube farm environment). my personal fave is ludacris radio - it's almost exclusively luda, eminem, and jay-z, pretty awesome.

so far today they have snuck in BARENAKED LADIES and LIFEHOUSE.

wtf, pandora?

BT is a ghost town.

I think the changeover has done more damage than anticipated.  I'm still scared to try to get into my logs.

There has been next to no activity in the political Joe forum.  You only have to go 5 threads deep to see the last contribution was last Friday.

Wasn't it getting close to that anyway? Maybe it was just TAN.

For the last month-ish, it seemed to be heading down that path.

I just did an ironman though....so I was kind of zoning the last few weeks as it was anyway.

3rd time to work Ironman into a conversation in the last 2 hours.....

normally the site slows down this time of year as people are training more. i think this is worse than previous years, though.
maybe they should have dropped the redesign in january?

Didn't you say that once the political trolls get their posts "quarantined" into the political forum, and out of the general population, they would stop with the inflammatory statements? I will call you Nostradamus from now on.

That was my prediction.  If you like to argue, and there is no one around to argue with, what's the point?.  Standing around in a room with people that think the same way and tell each other how smart you all are get's boring.

However, it's a bit slow on the political front these days.

I wonder if some of the usual suspects will fade away since there are less people to take the bait?

I'll take a wild guess: While diving in FL, you fell in love with a Manatee and are going to antELOPE?

Alright.

so I haven't publicly announced I have been seeing someone she is awesome and I wasn't really ready to commit to a new relationship already.

Despite taking precautions. And it wasn't planned. But I am excited anyways.

I am going to be a Dad for the first time in my life.

If the usual suspects want to restrict their circle jerk to Political Joe - go ahead, means I can pretend they don't even exist, which is just fine by me!

I hate to admit it but the antELOPE thing made me chuckle.

WOW! That's BIG news. CONGRATS!

I've a four and a two year old. Never a dull moment. The unconditional love that goes both ways (parent to child, child to parent) is the most amazing feeling. Get ready for a wild ride Smile

It is a bit of a shock I have known for about 8 weeks now and kept it low key. It is definitely Fast but I have known the girl for a 10 years and we were in similar marriages before sort of a common ground. She runs and cycles as well. which is nice. We have some common grounds.

And she has a 6 year old girl and 3 year old boy from previous marriage. I am more happy then I have been in years with her. She completely appreciates me and shows it all the time.

I have wanted kids for a while my ex refused. Until I told her we were separating back in July of 2012.

This is quicker then I wanted to move on things but it has felt so right all the way a long.

ok and I am a bit freaked out about it too.

As you should! Smile

Just keep in mind that nobody really knows what they are doing when they have their first child, and that people with less common sense and intelligence do a good job every day. It's going to be a BIG change, less free (training) time, less free (equipment) money, less (pizza) privacy. And yet, somehow, totally worth it.

And I won't go on because Monica is about to throw up, and Kido will send me to the "my kids are adorable" thread, while posting in the "all kids are annoying" one.

Sounds like you've got something good going on, and no matter how freaked out you are right now (I would be too!), I hope this is only the beginning of a LOT of happiness for you two... actually, I guess it's you four, soon to be five.  Smile

I am excited she has been amazing through this allowing me to learn instead of telling me how to do things seeing she has two kids already. (50% custody)

Dude I don't think you understand how little pizza I had in my marriage. Non in the last 2 years I was married.

I can't keep up with the amount of pizza I get now. I know it will slow down and I know that the kids are busy. But I also know they make running strollers.

I had just saved enough money to buy my Motorcycle. Sadly this is the one thing that will go on hold. And the one thing my Girlfriend was saving up for with me.

But it is ok. I have been back to doing a lot of scuba diving as of late and that is pretty cool. And I have been instructed to not stop. I am ensured that yes there will be interruptions but we will still have a life too.
