So I was up past one with a baby that was WIDE A$$ awake. Anyway it scrapped my plans to workout this morning. I'm highly irritable today as a result. Not sure anyone really wants to deal with me. |

Regular 211 | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 and UHCoog's Mentor Group-Closed Today was my first swim back after vacation, and even with the workouts I did over vacation, today was hard. It was a 2400 m anerobic endurance workout, but with the heat wave we've been having in the east this week, the water was much warmer than normal - uncomfortably so. We felt like we were all being made into a great big bowl of Masters Soup. Add to that the fact that they really needed to vacuum the pool out this morning to remove all the old band-aids and the big clumps of hair floating in it. Temporary issues, I know, but it made me wish for freezing February. It's all good, though. I'm getting back into workout routine, and preparing for races in September. |

Aren't both of those things actually good signs? I'd think (expert that I am - ha!) you'd want to carry a little extra weight into the race to burn it off and have some extra antisiness to burn as well. You're going to do great! |

Extreme Veteran 3020 | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 and UHCoog's Mentor Group-Closed So fatigued. I've only been up for 3 hours and I'm ready to go back to bed. I hope I'm able to get more sleep this week. Going to bed early tonight after my guests leave. Major discomfort at the 4:30 mark on the bike yesterday. Normal? I have this one area of my rear that gets pinched, and it hurts so bad at that 4:30 mark. I had the same saddle on my road bike and never had this problem. |

It's odd that it shows up so late in the ride. Now the road/tri bike thing isn't weird. Different geometry and pressure points. Does it dissipate if you quickly readjust? Muscular?
Swim and a bike today. Going to South Carolina on Wednesday to see my grandparents. My parents are driving my kids up from Miami and we're all meeting there. Should be fun. |

Started light marathon training this past weekend and also start the INSANITY program! Day 2 done! This is one hard program, but I already see how it is going to help make my legs and core stronger!!! |

Extreme Veteran 3020 | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 and UHCoog's Mentor Group-Closed It was 3 hours outside and then 2:30 inside. It didn't bother me outside but did once I was on the trainer. It's not muscular. It's a pressure point on the right side. It's sore for hours after the ride. Hours! I'm pretty sure it's going to be a PITA (literally) during IMMT. It's probably just because rides longer than 4 hours are new to me this year. |

I would think the insanity stuff would beat up your legs when you're looking to put in some serious run volume. |

Well the thing about the trainer is you're literally in the same spot the whole time, unless you're Rizer and get the Rock n Roll Kinetic. Anyway outside there are small changes in position due to turning, eating/drinking, etc. So if you are settled in on a pressure point you may just sit there on it. Wait until after a nice long ride outside to make any judgement calls on what's happening. |

Pro 4723 CyFair | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 and UHCoog's Mentor Group-Closed BTW I'm super excited for how the rest of the year is shaping up. 2 olys coming up. I hate this distance because the ride/run aren't long enough to help me make up for my deficient swimming. That said it's what I need (the things we hate generally are), and I'm hoping to qualify for HyVee at the 5150 in Galveston. Then there is Oilman, and literally everyone I know locally is racing there plus a good 6-8 clients. Then training starts for my first marathon.
Oh and I got the go ahead to try and get in on the Flo pre-order that's happening Thursday. |

Member 216 Haymarket, VA | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 and UHCoog's Mentor Group-Closed Long weekend at the track with horrible weather. I was only able to get in some riding Thursday afternoon, the rest of the weekend was jam packed with work. Slept in after my drive home last night, so I have a ride and run ahead of me tonight. Have a sprint coming up this weekend, and another the weekend following so I'm going to take it a little easy this week and next. Don't want to overdo it. |

I would think the insanity stuff would beat up your legs when you're looking to put in some serious run volume. Exactly. Like cross fit, Insanity can be really good off season general training / stregnth training, however coupling it marathon training is not a good idea. Its way too much stress on the legs when you want to be using your legs for run specific training. |

I find that changing shorts (going from wet to dry shorts) once or twice during a long trainer ride helps with things like pressure points. |

Likely you haven't "gained" weight. Likely now that you're just fully hydrated or retaining some extra water. Antsy-ness is good. I'm heading up to IMLP on Friday night and will be sure to cheer for you. Are you wearing the saucony kit again? |

Here is where you have to weigh goals vs. things you like to do vs. aesthetics, etc.
No, Insanity is not compatible with marathon training. You will not be able to do either at the prescribed intensity and recover. Doing both simultaneously is a bad idea if you want the best results from either. That said if you are just looking for improved aesthetics and general fitness you can do both. Now if you were to find a program that was a 2-3x a week program where the intensity of the leg movements was variable than I might be willing to consider that somewhat compatible. |

Extreme Veteran 826 Bristow | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 and UHCoog's Mentor Group-Closed Hey everyone! I apologize for not being around. It as been tough since losing the job and I haven't had any luck to this point. I even got so down on myself that I didn't even feel like working out. But enough sadness, I am getting back at it and starting to look up. I have had to go outside of my normal channels to look for work because my security clearance is being held up. I even took an interview from Starbucks today. Seems everyone is doing well and I will get caught up here soon! You guys have been busy! Keep rocking on! |

Only took off jersey and changed sport bras. I will change shorts once I transition to trainer next time and see if that makes a difference. Thanks! |

At the end of overload before an IM (exactly where you are right now) its really hard to get your HR. Totally normal. They're just numbers, you can't beat yourself up about them. |
