I've got a birthday coming up and Michele has been on my case because I have nothing on my wish list; there's just really nothing I want or need right now. So, we've worked out that she's paying for me to participate in a swim clinic through my tri club. It includes videotape analysis, including above and below water views. I wish I didn't have to wait til March 29 for this. I hope they don't tell me that my stroke is a mess, but I hope there is something that can use adjustment. Goodness knows my stroke count is way high.

i'm not gone!! sorry i haven't been around much guys! we've all been sick, i've been pouting, and i've been CRAZY busy! i'm hoping things will be calming down a BIT, the kids are all still sick, (and so far i haven't gotten it) dh is a BIT of a baby when he doesn't feel 100% and i'm TRYING desperately to have a  little compassion. (this is not something that comes easily for me-at least not like THIS)
anyway, i had a run this morning, i am back taking iron and the run was a little bit better, as of right now i've been "meatless" for a whole week, and i've lost about 2 pounds! the only time i REALLY wanted some meat was on wednesday when we went to costco, i LOVE costco hotdogs. with mustard, onions, and about a POUND of kraut. BUT i was strong, i didn't have a dog. i had some trail mix (that i had bought at costco-i LOVE that stuff) and one of  those plastic tub things with just the kraut (ok, i had two, but whatever-i have a sour kraut issue)

ok, seriously, i'm done pouting, i'm really really done pouting, but just so it's out there, this week has just SUCKED! from start to finish, this week has just been every kind of rotten. i think we're back on the upswing though, and i'll try to not get so down and pouty. it WAS nice to get on the scale this morning and be back down a bit.

Good morning everyone.   I spent about 2 and a half hours in the bike shop today getting my new Bianchi sorted out (fit, etc.).   By the time I got home and had a late lunch, it was 3:30.   I just had to go out for a short ride.   I ended up riding a little over an hour.  I did my best to keep the speed slow.   The wind was pretty strong and I did not want to end up crashing on my first ride.    Note that I currently have rat traps on the pedals.   I need to wait about a week for new shoes with the Look type cleat.   My old clipless were SPD type.

What can I say?  Fantastic!!!  It is so much smoother than my old ride.   I can't wait for nice weather and calmer winds.    Unfortunately, the weather forecast is ugly - they are showing snow two days later this week.

Have a great Sunday everyone!!

hey, my bday is in March, too! But I'm using my bday present to type this! Partner talked about possibly going to NYC for a weekend, but $ is a little bit tight right now for him, so I'm hoping to talk him into waiting until it's a little warmer. Plus then maybe my calves will be healed more and we can walk, walk, walk.

My mom asked what I wanted, but I told her what I wanted couldn't be bought: A dinner with my immediately family all together, not fighting. My brother responded to that that he would be out of town. Oh, well. I tried.

No sugar challenge starts today. It's funny because I was reading on the thread about how they all had a massive sugar binge yesterday. I was craving a soda SOOOOOO bad, but I didn't have it.

Then we rented a movie, but my partner wanted movie theater popcorn, so we actually drove over there to buy it for him. So then I was going to air pop my own and put a tsp. of butter on it, but we only had a tiny bit left and he had used it on bread, so it had gluten on it. So I had an orange and pickles instead. Yeah, I know - weird combo. But go me.

Here's my injury update.

Every time I do the Trigger Point exercises, it is less painful. Also I got another night splint yesterday, so now I can wear two at once. Surprisingly, I had no trouble sleeping with them on last night. My pain is also diminishing, so I am pretty hopeful I can do this beginner running program for women that starts at the end of March. At times I had no pain, and other times it flares up, but I am keeping at it.

Also, one note for everyone: I've noticed that if when you are sitting you kind of keep your legs together so they don't splay out, your posture will be greatly improved! I thought I was doing better with my posture in my car on my own, but until I used that yoga block, I had no idea! It forces you to keep your back straight, etc.

The first times I used the foam roller on my ITB's it hurt terribly, but in a good way. As you are already finding with the trigger point stuff it gets better and less painful as everything starts loosening up. Hopefully you are on the way towards wellness!

I may have to look at getting a yoga block or two.
