What's your least favorite part?

Not being able to volunteer at races... just don't have the time... makes me feel very selfish.

Morning Beasties.

How long have you been doing tris? Well... two years but I didn't do any last year.
What got you into triathlon-ing? Probably it was a mid life crisis. I was trying to lose weight and started running. Someone mentioned doing tris. I figured that was something "athletes" did, not me. Then, after a bit It seemed to jell. I love Mt biking and I love to swim just not fast at either. Why not I said. and I did.
What are your goals this year? To not get discouraged like I did last year. Keep at it and finish a 1/2M.

What's your favorite tri sport? Running, followed by swimming. I love to swim I have lousy form and am slow but I can do it all day long
What's your least favorite tri sport? Biking, I am terrified of road biking since being hit by a car. Perservering though

Current challenges/obstacles? Overcoming my slug-like nature, I'll procrastinate a workout for ever but LOVE when  I get it done. And balance with family job and training. (like everyone else).

What's your favorite part about training for tris? That I can- I never ever ever thought of myself (with good reason) as an athlete
What's your least favorite part? Becoming comfortable with the idea that I am never going to be good at this. Wrapping my mind around the concept that it is OK to have a goal of compLete rather than compete.

How many races did you do last year? A few 5 Ks
How many races are you planning on this year? Two sprints, two HMs a couple of 5 ks and a 10 k. I may not get to do the first half mary though, with this leg issue. It is in 3 weeks and I am way behind. OMG!

Ramble over...

I will be taking several rest days to hopefully get my leg healed up. I swim again tomorrow (or Friday) and Monday, will do an easy trainer ride on Tuesday, and will test out running on Wednesday. I dropped one run and 40 miles from my goals so I will still make my swim goal and my revised bike/run goals.

Morning Beasties!  My condensed version:

How long have you been doing tris? 6 years
What got you into triathlon-ing? I've wanted to do one since high school.  This may date me, but I grew up watching the likes of Dave Scott and Mark Allen.  Only thing that prevented me from doing a triathlon, was the fact that I couldn't swim more than 50 yds.  Took a swim class in college, and really didn't learn to swim comfortably until about 4 years ago (Total Immersion).
What are your goals this year? sub 4:30 half ironman in June...the rest is icing on the cake.
What's your favorite tri sport?  Copout answer, but I like them all, swimming for upperbody workout, biking for the speed, running for the social aspects.
What's your least favorite tri sport?  Don't have one.
Current challenges/obstacles?  Work and family commitments.  Need to get most of my workouts in before work or on lunch break, otherwise the workouts typically don't happen.
What's your favorite part about training for tris?  The challenge.  Knowing that I'm staying in shape.
What's your least favorite part?  Constantly being tired.
How many races did you do last year? A few half marathons, a half ironman, a few sprint tris and a marathon.
How many races are you planning on this year? 2 half marathons, 2 sprints, a half ironman and a marathon.

So, I fail at morning workouts.  I always mean to do them, then I just never get up in time.  I would have been a nice morning for a bike ride, too!  Too bad my bed is too comfy!

Anyways, I'm actually not sure what's up on tap for today.  Usually I lift on Wednesdays, but my lifting buddy is out of town this week.  I could go home, grab my bike, and ride after work. . . But I'm horribly notorious for not leaving the house once I get home from work.  So I'm afraid if I go home, nothing will get done.  If I go straight to the gym from work, then I will definitely lift.

Or I could lift at the gym, then hop on the trainer when I get home.  We'll see!

Bored At Work Getting to Know the bEASTies Poll
How long have you been doing tris? Last year was my first year!

What got you into triathlon-ing?  Dunno...just always wanted to do it.
What are your goals this year?  To do an Oly in September.  I have a sprint planned for June, then I thought I'd do a slightly longer sprint in late July.

What's your favorite tri sport?  It's a toss-up between swimming and running.  I never thought I'd say that 'cause I always hated running...it's really hard, ya know!

What's your least favorite tri sport?  Biking...I'm not sure why.  It was a always a leisurely thing, and now it's a task.  Also, I don't have any really good, safe spots to ride right near me.  The bike path (sorry, the multi-use path) is always filled with meandering elderly or idiots just standing int the middle of the lanes chatting.

Current challenges/obstacles?  Stress of life getting in the way of good spirits and ability to concentrate and feel good in general.  I'm also taking 2 courses right now that keeps me busy as well.

What's your favorite part about training for tris? I like to see my progress.

What's your least favorite part?  Doing it when I don't feel like it.  I'm with you Missy on the nachos and beer.

How many races did you do last year?  One - my first!!
How many races are you planning on this year?  3 if I don't chicken out.  Well, if I chicken out on the Oly, I'll do a sprint in its place.

Oh how I wish I could drag my butt outta bed in the morning.  I feel so good when I workout then too.  X2 on the go home and crash thing.  That's why I'm heading out for a run in a few minutes on my lunch.  Otherwise, it won't happen.

bEASTies,  I am waaaaay behind in reading posts, so I have no idea what's going on with the rest of you.  I did an AM swim and I'm planning a PM bike ride.  At some point, I am simply going to have to force myself to put on my darn running shoes.  I'll catch up on post reading later when I log in my bike ride.  jackie

Go for it and have a great workout - I hear you on the home thing though.  If I get home and slow down - bam I am done for the night.  That is why 99% of my workouts are morning workouts!

Morning before work is the only time I can really call my own.
