Hows he doing now?bcraht - 2012-08-27 5:26 AM Having a blast watching IMC--on the side of the highway about 20 km from the bike finish. Home for lunch now, then heading into the finish to watch until my volunteer shift starts at 9pm. Have done a nice run along the Kettle Valley Railway trail along Skaha lake as well as a couple shortish OWS. Staying at friends 5 acre home with horses to help with and chickens to collect eggs from and fruit to jam. I am in heaven. OMIGOSH that guy I call Spiglet who comes and lurks about in here is doing IMC -- his bib number is 656 in case you check this before you go! His name is Mark Spadoni. Been going steady at about 20mph on the bike. He SAID he was going to take it easy ... although I suppose for him, a 6-hour IM ride would be. Yeah, me too, but it was the swim for his lungs and crashing on the bike for his blood that really worried me. So now that he's staggering (at what would be antelope speed for me) along on the run, I do feel much better. |

Did you happen to see a REALLY FAST smokin' hot redhead guy about 6ft tall at the race? Yeah, I know, so many ... but ... he would have been one of the fastest runners hands down AND he's a smokin' hot redhead. As usual, it's more a nearly-inextricable web of idiocy building on itself. I made the error of checking Transitions - the Aussie triathlon website - first topic I hit on was one close to my heart, that of Iron Cowboy's effort to break the record for IM in one year - man they bagged the cr*p out of him for - a)raising money as it would be costing him a fortune b) airmiles he will clock up c) wanting to break a record in the first place d) and this is the one that gets me - having the audacity to be away from his wife and kids thus being a bad father. So when you are a triathlete you have the God given right to question people's parenting skills..... I did of course reply - i met this guy in Melbourne and he was humble as. He loves his family and gets home when he can and they have joined him on some of his ventures. As for how he spends his money - WTF he's still raising money and spending his own - surely his choice. And he is a great athlete dong less than 12 hours! |

Extreme Veteran 536 | Subject: RE: Yanti & Salty RidiculoSnarky Almost Intelligent-Charming Manatees PART 4 - Full Race report is UP! Sorry I have been MIA, I do miss my manatees and wish I could get back to being more present. BUt life's been kicking up lately. YOu can read the race report, but overall I had a great race (aside from my lame swim, caused by lack of swimming, like, ever). Also I was a little stiff/sore because apparently I went to the Yanti School of Wicked Smart Training Strategies by doing trail/hill run of 5.3 miles on WEdnesday for the first time in at least 4 months and swimming drills on Thursday after not swimming since July, then doing a hardcore training ride (on a horse) Thursday night to get ready for riding clinic today (Sunday). I skipped boot camp Friday AM becuase I was afraid my legs would fall off when I tried to use them Sat. at the race. I think it was a wise move. They also weren't too happy about the near 2-hour drive down to the South Shore of MA, where the race was, on Friday night. Then I went to Patrios Place and the NE Patriots Hall of Fame/Museum - fun! - and Kelly Clarkson w/The Fray concert Sat. night. Riding clinic today was pretty good too, although the continuing stiffness hindered the riding a bit. Great weekend overall, hope everyone else had a good one! Peace. |

Master 3888 Overland Park, KS | Subject: RE: Yanti & Salty RidiculoSnarky Almost Intelligent-Charming Manatees PART 4 - Full Drive by posting as I've got a meeting in 10 minutes. It was RAINING for yesterday's sprint tri so I went slow on the bike (we know what happened last time I rode in the rain). But I had a great swim and run. It was a small field for the "long" course tri, only 27 men, I cam in 4th and as Bob Uecker would say "just a bit outside" the podium. It's a small fundraiser race but lots of run, great volunteers and great Lake community. Was my best swim pace and best run pace in any tri thus far. I got "teenaged" on the run by a H.S. XC boy that was running the relay. The race is not on BT, can I log the race into BT or do I need to be the RD to do that? I know the RD and he wouldn't mind me entering it in on his behalf, but I don't know how to do that? |

I was balancing working the Hood to Coast Relay with PowerBar and attending a really good friend's wedding. I managed to get in some running on the trails at Mt. Hood which was BEAUTIFUL BTW, drink lots of great micro-brew and make some amazing contacts. At one point I was driving the Race announcers car (he gave me the keys, no questions asked. Shame on him ) and then I got roped into doing a flexed arm hang competition at the Marines booth. Here I am climbing the announcers tower returning the keys hahaha Annnnd my big flexed arm hang win

Nice job on the "just a bit outside" near podium finish, and even better job on playing it safe on the wet, rainy bike. Smart manatee! You can log the race onto BT yourself. I think the main things you need are the race location (town, state), distances and the race website's URL, if memory serves me correctly. Any other info is not mandatory but of course could be appreciated by others. I've had to add a lot of the little sprints I've done. Edited by melbo55 2012-08-27 1:37 PM |

Peaaaaanut, Peaaaaaaanut butter! Nice work, notably on taking it easy in the rain! Meh, better "teenaged" than say, "strollered" |

I went from Seattle to Mt. Hood to Seattle to Arlington to Seaside and back to Seattle. That's like, 800 miles in 2.5 days or something!!! Here I am climbing the announcers tower returning the keys hahaha
Annnnd my big flexed arm hang win
Sounds like a fun weekend, Salty!! And the trail runs, yay!! Luvs me some trail running! Nice 'gumdrops' (calf muscles) in the first pic, and way to kick arse on the flexed arm hang, you beast!! Gumdrops! LOL that's a new one! |
