KathyG - 2009-11-03 11:56 AM Tips for spectating on the bike:

Last two times I went to watch IMFL we spectated on the bike course near the bike turn around. It is a great place to watch folks as you can place yourself where your racer pass by twice.

For those of you with family that want to see you my recommendation is to have them watch you swim and go off on the bike, then drive out to intersection of 2301 and 388 towards the turn around for special needs. They can see you twice on that little out and back.

Ideally they can drive out to that spot down 388 the opposite way of the bikers, normally we would see the pros coming down 388 as we drove out. Park on the other side of 2301 where racers don't go.

It is a little farther than half way on the bike. Nice thing is you catch folks after they make a right hand corner so they are going a little slower and then you see then again after the turn around some 20-25' later.

Thanks for the tip - if my girls will stop building sand castles and playing in the pool, it may be a plan

I looked here and it is about mile 68 and again at mile 76 which helps spectators time when to get out there.

jjcnbg - 2009-11-03 7:04 AM Just woke up in PCB.  Water looks like glass.  Feels good to finally be here.  Long drive though!  53 degrees this morning so it's a little chilly.  For those staying at the Shores it looks great.  Other then a few ants last night the condo and the building look great.  I post more later but I am going for my first breakfast in PCB.

Forecast 73/57
Water Temp 70 degrees
3 Days 23 Hours 55 Minutes.....

Starting my 12 hour drive tonight! Also staying at the Shores, I think I'm on the 10th floor if my memory serves. Let us know if you find any good bfast/lunch/dinner places!

Super secret breakfast place right next to the Shores called "The Waffle House"Wink  I was starving for breakfast after an all night drive so it hit the spot.  We had pineapple willie's for lunch.  They had a decent grilled chicken sandwich.  We are trying to decide on dinner.  Spent $300 at Walmart so we should probably eat in but oh well.

Spent the day at Walmart stocking up, then we took a walk on the beach down to the race start.  I am not going to lie to you the construction in front of the hotel sucks!  Not quite sure how it is going to work on race day.  Otherwise it is a beautiful day.  75 degrees right now and a bit windy.  Wind didn't start until about 1:30.

I have met some very nice people so far but there are a lot of pumped up people in spandex riding/running around.  In addition, it looks like the Shores must be the go to spot for oversea's competitors because I have never seen so many speedo's in my life.  That's all for now, I am going to get back to a little relaxing.

I think Ironman City/Village/Etc is all ready to take your money.

Ready to go swimming tomorrow and Thursday..

Still trying to figure out where the finish line will be.  Bike rakes are all assembled at the Boardwalk.  Looks like the nightclub next to spinnaker will be the finish line area.  Workers are putting up scaffolding in front of the place.

Looking forward to seeing everyone

Mr Steve

Arrived today to a beautiful day in PCB.  We are staying at the Shores also...and I laughed when I read your post.  I thought my family and the staff were the only English speaking "folks" here.  Hope to run into you and chat a little
I'll be at the swim Thursday am...in my orange BT shirt.  Safe travels everyone...our day is almost here.

4:30 AM: I should still be asleep, but 1.5 hours is apparently all I'm gonna get. Rolling out an hour early. Gotta get to Atlanta (2.5 hours south) solo, then picking up my copilot at airport. She can drive while I try to sleep, which isn't likely. I really hope I get some kind or rest between now and Sunday! I'm just not cut out for this kind of thing. Tongue out

get some rest.  It is 4:19AM here in PCB. Decided to start getting up at 4:00am PCB time for the rest of the week. Rather than a rude awakening on Sat. Eating my pre-race breakfast...might as well as practice that.  Ready to swim today.  Hope you get some rest on the way down here.

Anyone ever see the Walt Disney World commercial with the grown man lying in bed with his wife where he says, "I"m too excited to sleep..."?

That's me! I've been up since 5am. I'm too excited to sleep! See everyone soon!
