It looks like we are about to get hit by the worst storm of this winter with possible snow accumulations of up to 9 inches. I figure I had better not plan on running tomorrow and probably not on Tuesday either. I've got to refigure my training plans for this week so that I can stay on track for the March challenge.

hey everyone. i looked at your blog julie, and i think you look awesome!! i left a comment on there.
susie-WTG on the will power last night, WOAH! that's just freaking awesome! the no soda (i commend you, there's no way i'd give up my diet coke-EVER) and the no popcorn! you rock.
dan--wanna see wanna see the bike wanna see!!! i looked at a bianchi at the bike shop the other day. LOL it was all tricked out- and up on a platform thing, mostly for show i think. anyway, i told dh i wanted it for my birthday LOL he said sure yeah, no problem. (it was around $6500) then i told the guy to wrap it up for me, and he just laughed. LOL ok, whatever.
i'm heading out for a run here pretty soon, it WAS raining, but it stopped, waaahh. it's a new month, a new day, i just looked at the course for the marathon (i meant to link it here for you julee, and i spaced it out--i'll find it again) so hopefully that'll be enough to get my butt out there.

here's a link to my little blog--it's not much, but i do write on there sometimes. http://alley-gator.blogspot.com/

julee, here's the link to the rnr seattle marathon http://www.rnrseattle.com/

have a good day everyone.

Hi everyone.  We had beautiful weather today - sunny and all the way up to 50.   I got out for my longest run in probably 5 or 6 years.  It was only about 5 miles, but that is great progress for me.   As of the end of Feb, I have now run further than I did all of last year.

Have a great weekend everyone!

And don't forget that Cheri is racing on Sunday..... Go Cheri!!

Nice job, Dan! KIU!

I was a wimp this morning I was planning a bike ride but decided I didn't want to deal with the wind. I rode the trainer instead.

How's that wimpy? Trainer rides are the worst!

Good job!

MDHillSlug - 2009-02-28 4:07 PM I've got a birthday coming up and Michele has been on my case because I have nothing on my wish list; there's just really nothing I want or need right now. So, we've worked out that she's paying for me to participate in a swim clinic through my tri club. It includes videotape analysis, including above and below water views. I wish I didn't have to wait til March 29 for this. I hope they don't tell me that my stroke is a mess, but I hope there is something that can use adjustment. Goodness knows my stroke count is way high.
hey, my bday is in March, too! But I'm using my bday present to type this! Partner talked about possibly going to NYC for a weekend, but $ is a little bit tight right now for him, so I'm hoping to talk him into waiting until it's a little warmer. Plus then maybe my calves will be healed more and we can walk, walk, walk. My mom asked what I wanted, but I told her what I wanted couldn't be bought: A dinner with my immediately family all together, not fighting. My brother responded to that that he would be out of town. Oh, well. I tried.

what is the date of your bd? and good for you for trying....does your bro realize that grudges get you nowhere fast!? and it is easier to ignore the problem then to face it and go forward!? hope you can work thru this...I know how important family is and how it can hurt when someone is not being so nice! hang in there girl!!

i'm not gone!! sorry i haven't been around much guys! we've all been sick, i've been pouting, and i've been CRAZY busy! i'm hoping things will be calming down a BIT, the kids are all still sick, (and so far i haven't gotten it) dh is a BIT of a baby when he doesn't feel 100% and i'm TRYING desperately to have a  little compassion. (this is not something that comes easily for me-at least not like THIS)
anyway, i had a run this morning, i am back taking iron and the run was a little bit better, as of right now i've been "meatless" for a whole week, and i've lost about 2 pounds! the only time i REALLY wanted some meat was on wednesday when we went to costco, i LOVE costco hotdogs. with mustard, onions, and about a POUND of kraut. BUT i was strong, i didn't have a dog. i had some trail mix (that i had bought at costco-i LOVE that stuff) and one of  those plastic tub things with just the kraut (ok, i had two, but whatever-i have a sour kraut issue)

ok, seriously, i'm done pouting, i'm really really done pouting, but just so it's out there, this week has just SUCKED! from start to finish, this week has just been every kind of rotten. i think we're back on the upswing though, and i'll try to not get so down and pouty. it WAS nice to get on the scale this morning and be back down a bit.

Hey Lyssa,

First, I have to thank you for the quiche idea earlier in the week - I'd forgotten how easy they are, but made one Friday that has been feeding me all weekend! Perfect Friday night-week was too long-I don't feel like cooking tonight-meal! And pretty much complete if you put some greens in, too!

Next, I'm not saying it's the same at all, but Tofu Pup brand soy dogs, fried in a little corn oil or grilled on a George Foreman with a little oil (they have pretty much no fat, so you need to add some, definitely) with a pile of kraut and really good mustard are a good substitute for the real thing. Especially if it's the sour you like. The Tofu Pups have enough of that smokey hotdog flavor to make it a near miss.

I hope you're all feeling better soon!

Hi everyone,

I just got back from Seaside, and the HM was very interesting.  We had a big front come through yesterday and last night, and the conditions for the race were horrible -- 25-35 mph winds (with higher gusts) directly in our face for the first 6.55 miles and 39 degrees (and it didn't warm up).  Plus they made us wait 20 minutes past racetime in the wind and cold, waiting for some last minute runners on a parking shuttle.  So for the first couple of miles my hands and feet were like blocks of ice, a very wierd feeling.

I finished in 1:55:40 on my GPS, not chip time.  Not a PR, but under these conditions I'll take it!   We left before the awards, so I don't know if I placed or not.  My GPS time is probably about 30 seconds off, since it took me awhile to get to the start line.  So a 1:56:10 last year would have gotten me second place in my age group (I got fifth last year).  We'll see...

rockin' splits cheri!! i looked in your log. all i can say is WOAH. you rocked the race woman.

i ran in the rain. well, kind of. it wasn't raining when i started, it POURED for about 5 minutes half way through, and it was starting up again right before i finished. i'll take it though. it was about 45 degrees and the rain felt PERFECT.
i did a whopping whole 5 miles. LOL dh decided he was going to cook me up a training plan, so far all i know is i'm on for 2 miles tomorrow, no running on tuesday then wednesday he's planning on killing me. he used to run when he was much younger. (little age jab-he's 15 years older than me. LOL) and he did his first marathon at like 15 years old (yeah, the year i was born LOL) so we'll see how it goes.

Hey Gang! Happy Sunday! I can't believe how this week has flown by....I suppose that is what happens when you are buried in marking and reports. It was a not so great week for me in terms of focus. While I did get in some workouts that I am happy with, I am disappointed that I totally dropped the ball and forgot about my chiro appt, and then a parent meeting at school- I didn't have to be there but I know that it would have been appreciated. Just didn't feel like I was pulling my weight anywhere. Oh well....brand new week ahead and I am looking forward to everything falling back into place.

Susie- so sorry to hear that bro is not being cool- he will come around, and until then celebrate the positive relationships in your life. I am also very happy to hear that the TP therapy is working for you and will allow you to get back on your feet that much sooner....I don't get the orange and pickle combo...but hey...

Julie- loved the tri outfit! You look like a triathlete...wait...you ARE a triathlete! Go and get excited about your race next weekend! DH and DD are going to love cheering you on and they will be so proud!

Alyssa- Sorry to hear that the week was not so good... we're about to start a new one, so it's bound to be better! Are you signed up for the RNR Seattle?! Does it replace the November marathon?

Nicole- I cannot believe that storm! Hope you have some snowshoes or skis...it would be some fun cross-training for you! Are you far from Rock Creek Park? You could get in there and a great little winter snowshoe! Congrats on the SOLID PEACH February calendar too! You rock!

Cheri- congrats on the race! What is with these officials changing things??? First Nalani has to run an extra mile, and then your race is delayed because of a shuttle? Was it chip timed? Wasn't it ultimately up to people to get to the shuttle/start on time? Rest those legs!

Dan- Yipppeeee on the new wheels! Too bad they won't do so well in the snow! Be sure to take some pics and have fun!!!!

Isabelle- Love cleaning clutter....it is so cleansing! The rule from a course I took..."If you don't love it or need it, chuck it." The other interesting point that the instructor tried to tell us was that the only things that children wanted passed on were pictures, albums/scrapbooks, and jewlery.

Amy- sorry that the doc is trying to slow you down but he seems to know what he is talking about so far....3 mile walks are still great, and the fact that you can be swimming....awesome! Get out there... Tribi will be right at your side!

Trish- exciting that your HM is just a couple of weeks away! Be sure to take care of those legs! Did I miss something earlier? Are you vegetarian? I love tofu...but not sure if I could give up my meat!

Julie- scary story, you shared on your blog....glad to hear that everything turned out ok- that smoke detector is such a life saver. Have we told you lately what an inspiration you are??? Thanks for volunteering to mentor- I feel so fortunate to be in your group with such an incredible group of people.

Have a spectacular day gang!!!! (Hope to see more of Scott, Nalani, Monica, and Amy)

Hi guys, it is going to take me awhile to catch up.  Sledge!  Awesome HM time in poor conditions!

I worked 59 hours last week.  I'm burnt out.  Probably not so much from training but from all the overtime (which I don't get paid for, salaried--which is why I'm the one having to work it!), all the attention the hockey team (I manage a Mite B team) has required to plan the end of season party--and trying to collect money for that, family stuff, and then the training.  I just want a nap!  Just an hour!

Anyway, I did just get a couple of minutes here, so wanted to say hi...I'm going to catch up now

With the coming snow storm I'm figuring on no run tomorrow or Tuesday. I just looked at my planned schedule and need three runs this week, so it looks like I'll drop my daughter off for dance this afternoon and then get my run in before the snow starts.
