Pennsylvania | Subject: RE: Yanti & Salty MAD MANATEES Part 2 -- Full Pod rrrunner - 2012-06-26 8:15 PM Felicia, we are in the mid 90's and don't have the humidity. It gets hot fast! Maybe racing the sprint is a good option, no? All this talk of racing on the 8th I might have to do one i've been contemplating. It's actually only a 5k! It's called the Pork & Brew 5k and the entry fee for the race includes a ticket to the local Pork & Brew festival. I did it two years ago before we moved here. We were here on our house-hunting trip and our realtor told me about the race so I thought i'd do it since we were here, right? Well I was NOT prepared for the elevation or the dry heat (we lived in Omaha then). So, yup, a 5k kicked my butt... I might have to do it to redeem myself (and get some beer & BBQ). Sounds like a great race and an excellent chance for redemption!! For me, that is partly why I pick the races I do: is there some element of fun or uniqueness or special location? THAT is what pulls me into a race. And beer. Will race/play hockey for beer! |

Pennsylvania | Subject: RE: Yanti & Salty MAD MANATEES Part 2 -- Full Pod jogo - 2012-06-26 11:13 PM So I've biked a little, swam a little, ran a little, and I am the proud owner of a $50 Sugoi tri suit that was marked down $100. I'm totally ready. Now just sit on my a$$ and wait for July 8th to get here. Ha, JUST KIDDING!!!! Have no idea what the training will be for the next week and a half but my goal is just to keep doing something. Starting Paleo Whole30 tomorrow. I apologize ahead of time for any b*tchiness or crabbiness that this may bring out. My DH's reaction: "Really? Can't you wait a couple of months? I don't know if I can handle your youngest moving out, your empty nest syndrome, evil tri b*tch, and you WITHOUT wine or chocolate. I may have to leave you a forwarding address and I'll come home when the 30 days is up." Wooo! Congrats on the tri suit deal! But I gotta agree with the other manatees: what plan involves giving up chocolate and wine? Eeek! All kidding aside, good luck! |

I paid attention to my head position, and my neck/shoulders were definitely less sore. Congrats on the training PR -- you're just smokin' it right now, good race, great swim, longest bike!!! Good news on the bike position, too. And you're likely acclimating to higher mileage on the bike as well. Thanks, Yanti. Yes, I am gaining some confidence to be sure. I am feeling strong and like I am recovering well and quickly from workouts. Only 4.5 weeks to race day. Eeeek! |

My 21 year old son who lives there told me if I "get to work" I could be ready by March (not sure what he thinks i've been doing)(he's never done a tri). Guide me my POD... |

Master 7712 Orlando | Subject: RE: Yanti & Salty MAD MANATEES Part 2 -- Full Pod I'm having a bit of trouble getting back into the swing of things after vacation, sickness and injury. The nonstop rain from TS Deby hasn't made things any easier. At the beginning of the year I was contemplating the new REV HIM in Sarasota in October or repeating the Miamiman HIM i did as my first HIM last year. That race is November. I haven't been able to pull the trigger on either and I keep getting emails about price increases. sigh. I am signed up for a sprint August 1st, so I will have at least 2 tris completed this season. Seems like a waste of my beautiful new in January P2 not to get more races in this season, so hopefully my funk will leave with Deby. Of course, if I saw a local beer and BBQ race, my mood would improve drastically! |

You're a pretty good athlete and while your race may not be optimal in October, you should be fine to finish it with some measure of cheer. Get some friends together and MAKE yourself a beer and BBQ race I hear you on hard to get going after interruptions, particularly negative ones. Even a wonderful island (well ... it IS an island, heh) vacation is hard to come back from; there's that inevitable slump. But I bet if you go ahead and pull the trigger on a race, it would give you a bit of go getter ... |

The ride will pass a mile from my house, on the highway I ride on a couple of times a week. Oh yeah, let me check that with my wife first. And I'm with you on TS Debby, I am soooo done. Master 7712 Orlando | Subject: RE: Yanti & Salty MAD MANATEES Part 2 -- Full Pod Thanks for the encouragement (and the conditional room offer), I will keep swimming, biking and running and hoping that things fall into place. I may try my own beer and bbq run this weekend. That may do the trick |
